That's exactly how I feel. It should stay self contained. Nolan and Bale did something very special and having him appear in something that could end up being a disaster kind of dilutes that effort.Yeah... Bale Bats is done and honestly thats the way it should be. I love him and would gladly have him play the role for another 10 years, but I just don't think its meant to be that way.
It's rare for any superhero character/their respective actor to get a complete, successful, critically acclaimed story up on the big screen, with a solid beginning, middle and end (we hope).
It's the end of an era... and I want Christian Bale's Batman to be complete within his trilogy.
Kick things off with Man of Steel next summer...
Chris Pine would have been a better Hal Jordan. Always wanted him.
If bigger actors than Henry Cavill get cast for some of the other roles, who ends up first in the cast? It doesn't seem right to have someone else (other than maybe Batman) above Superman. What if Ryan Reynolds is in the movie? Is he more well known than Cavill? What if he's more well known than whoever plays Batman? Will he be the one headlining this movie? I hope not.
That's a contract thing. I don't agree with Mr. Freeze being higher than Batman in the cast list for BATMAN and Robin.
Why did they get Ryan Reynolds for Green Lantern when he seems like he would've been a better fit for the Flash?
I'd like 2011's Green Lantern to just go ahead and be connected to the JL movie. Why not? Give us the Yellow Sinestro as one of the JL's villains.
Why did they get Ryan Reynolds for Green Lantern when he seems like he would've been a better fit for the Flash? I'm ok with having the same Green Lantern, but equally I'm not too bothered either, as having a different Banner in The Avengers didn't hurt the movie
I'm talking about better from an overall film perspective. Look Avengers was a fun ride, but it wasn't this ground breaking piece of story telling or even a ground breaking piece of cinema.
it was an entertaining ride that was executed fantastically and deserved the money it got at the box office. But the results for Nolan's desire to self-contain Batman speaks for itself. With no (or few) restraints he's been able to craft three very different movies, each with a unique and compelling story that is full of depth and great character arcs that require multiple viewings. There is no-way we get TDK or TDKR if Nolan was told by WB to go in a specific direction for a DC universe.
We'll see with Man of Steel next year what happens when the objective is to treat each characters movie as it's own universe but I fully expect that film to also set itself apart. And I'm sorry, Thor and Captain America are still not in the same league as Donner's Superman.
Ryan Ryneolds was a waste of time as GL if you want the movie to be taken seriously. He can maybe play Deadpool or some other comedic hero but he was totally wrong for a serious space cop. I think the idea the first writer had of Common as Green Lantern would be a much better fit. You kill 2 birds with one stone. You diversify the the moivie at the same time keeping JLA traditional.

HELL NO to Common as Green Lantern. The guy can't act for ****.

He's an actor, most actors can play more than one type of character. The character he played was Hal Jordan through and through. I'm sure if he played Wally West it would have been Wally West through and through as well.
TDK was a great movie but in no way required multiple viewings. I would say that Watchman had a better chance of requiring multiple viewings than TDK. There was nothing deep or complex in the TDK plot line to warrant multiple viewings. As far as the movies not being able to be made without some guidance from the studio is ridiculous. All directors have to deal with some influence from the studio. That has nothing to do with the ability of the director being able to deliver a good movie.
Superman the movie was nominated for awards based on its music score and visual effects mainly. Gene Hackman played one of the worst campy villains of all time. What made S1 great was Chris Reeve. Bottom line. He was probably the best casted comic book character with maybe only Snipes as Blade challenging him for that spot. I agree that Thor, Cap are not in the same arena as cinema "Classics" as S1 is considered by most but neither is TDK or TDKR. All 4 are just really good comic book movies.

If we MUST reboot Green Lantern too, give us Nathan Fillion like it should've been in the first place.
Nathan Fillion - Green Lantern
Bradley Cooper - The Flash
Megan Gale - Wonder Woman
Dennis Haysbert - Martian Manhunter
Henry Cavill - Superman
Jon Hamm - Batman
Oh that's right, I forgot box office equate to being ground braking. Dah.Ummm, setting box office records are considered by most as ground breaking cinema.
'The Avengers' smashes domestic box office record for opening weekend
