Justice League Status Updates Thread - Part 2

well, you have to give them a reason to give a ****. honestly, if we heard today that a justice league film is in the works for late 2013, and that bale was returning as batman, the **** would hit the proverbial fan. it'd probably give the internet a heart attack.

I would be disappointed if they go that route. I don't care wether the GA is confused or not. I want continuity.

Continuity means nothing, different universes means the characters can be taken into different directions.

Continuity means nothing, different universes means the characters can be taken into different directions.

Continuity means you can develop your character more.

I'm torn with this. Because as you said, continuity serves for character development, but I really really REALLY want self contained franchises, developed just like TDKT. Right now, I don't really care for a Justice League film, I just want epic stories with the most important characters of DC. We had that with Batman, I just hope that Man of Steel will be good and do well at the box office so we can have some well done Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, films. I believe even Aquaman can sustain his own film.

But Justice League seems inevitable, so if you they are going to make it, just make it good. I do believe that it loses something by not having established characters first. But it can work. I mean the Justice League animated series had only established firmly Superman and Batman, (with guest appearances from Flash, GL, and Aquaman). And it turned out great. I'll keep saying it, having the animated series as template is a step in a good direction.

And I think you underestimate how valuable a joint continuity can be, if executed right. In particular, having different actors playing different takes on the character means that you basically get no leverage out of your track record.

I'm not saying I don't want it I'm just saying you don't need it. I think you'll fid films like X-Men and Watchmen worked without having to go solo routes first.

I think that Batman for JL movie will be different from the one they will introduce in a solo Batman reboot after some years.

As for Superman, there is a good chance that Cavill will continue as Superman in the JL movie and they may even bring back Ryan Reynolds for GL.

This way only Batman would be different in two separate franchises, for obvious reasons.

It'll happen. WB want a JL movie, and rather than doing the Marvel thing of build up, they'll shoot us out something quickly. A movie where the characters are already the JL by the beginning.

Is it smart or not?

If they use Cavill and Reynolds, then they already have a build-up (sort of), after Nolan's Bat trilogy there was always going to be a new Batman actor stepping into Bat costume.

Batman is already a well known character, so I see no need to re introduce him in a solo movie as he is not an unknown hero like Iron Man and Thor.

The only new members that will be in JL are Flash and WW, which should not be a big problem.

I imagine they'll make solo movies AFTER the JL movie.

But it's going to be weird.

New movies based of a separate continuity, and a separate Batman continuity altogether with sequels.

This is madness I tell you, MADNESS!!!

You can do that in different universes too. Besides, if anything Avengers showed us you don't need to have character development.

X-Men can do it because they have a common premise. . . and even then, what is the number one complaint about most of the movies? That they aren't X-Men movies, but Wolverine movies guest starring a bunch of extra people. ( First Class averts this by instead being a *Magneto* movie, guest starring a bunch of other people )

As for Watchmen, here's the thing: given that it didn't break even in theaters and only got mediocre reviews, it clearly *didn't* work.

I got into Watchmen no bother though. Granted I had read the novel before seeing the movie. But I felt it was fine the way it was for those who hadn't read it.

Hulk shown in Avengers was Completely different than the Hulk in TIH, and it was played by two different actors, also CGI look was different, so there build up made little sense.

Who really cares about Armie Hammer as Batman at this point? There's no movie going right now. Until this thing is going in front of the cameras, why worry about it? There's no director. There's nothing right now. Who are all these sources with all this casting info. anyway?

X-Men is still a group of superheroes coming together to save the world which is exactly what JL would be, it doesn't matter about the premise you don't need to hear everyones origin story first, and it doesn't matter if Watchmen was a hit or not the point is that the film itself is easily understandable n u don't need to see every heroes origin beforehand.

You don't need that if you want to make a forgettable pop corn movie indeed. I hope the JL movie will be more than that though...

Lol at "forgettable". Maybe that's why millions and millions of people saw it multiple times at the theater and then bought the Blu-Ray - yknow, so they wouldnt "forget". Ah, the stuff people write on the interwebs.

Eh, popcorn movie yes, forgettable? No. Chances are any JL film is going to be handled in a similar way.

I'm not millions and millions people, I'm me. I don't care for millions and millions people. I didn't feel the need to see the movie multiple times, and I didn't buy the bluray.

And yes, it is a forgettable movie to me. It was fun.

But yeah, you know, because millions and millions people think it's not, that makes me wrong, because opinions are wrong....

Ah, the stuff people write on the interwebs

And i really hope the JLA movie will have an engaging story and some interesting themes, to make it more than a forgettable movie.
