Don't tell my mama Luther was gay. She was all over that man.

You could tell from the way that Luther would purse his lips that he had sugar. Dancing with his father and s***....LOL

Black women are is such denial over this fact.

R&B ain't never comming back to any form similar to the past. When Hip-hop got into bed w/ R&B, they made some sweet noise for a good while, but then it puttered out. Same with the Blues. Music, most notable, soul music is about the times, good and bad, get down and come up, nowadays everyone is too connected and its all bad. Too much other things to pull people away from 'buying records'.

There's still much talent, but less return on developing such. Jahiem is cool, ain't heard the new one, if I did I might have spaced it. Has he stopped dressin like he work @ the liquor sto yet?

I thought Luther liked both men and women? We used to make jokes in our family that fat Luther was gay and skinny Luther was straight lol

Whatever happened to that TQ guy from the 90s who sang Westside?

Oh snap, that song actually played outside of California? It's difficult to tell when some west coast love letters are national & international hits, or just local hits.

Anyway, I remember he signed up with Cash Money (westside til you die indeed, sir :whatever: ), did a few obligatory "we need someone to sing the hook" appearances on one or two Big Tymers songs, then faded away.

It really pisses me off how a lot of West Coast hip hop doesn't get played outside of the west....unless the artist is directly connected to Dre or Snoop.. :cmad:

E40 don't even get airtime no more. That game for Wii called Madworld, the soundtrack is strictly made up of West Coast underground hip hop artists though.

Actually I forgot that Will.I.Am is from East L.A....Though it makes me sick to call him an Hip Hop artist anymore.

E-40 should be pissed considering how many people steal his slang and don't credit him for it (mostly speaking of Snoop).

Well, 40 is my dude, I men think what grade you were in when whatever one of his jams was hott, I first saw 'practice lookin hard' on Rap City like '92, my brother was like u got to hear this dude.

I saw he and the whole click last year and it was like '90's fest. No hip-hop artist has had the longevity he has. That's just the national base

I don't think of Snoop and Dre no more when I think of the West Coast, I don't have any real current point of refrence tho...past The Game.

The only group that I really listen to from California is Dilated Peoples. Backpackers like a mother****er, but they hold it down.

Dilated Peoples is dope, but so is Blackalicious, Hieroglyphics, MURS, Crooked I, Del tha Funkee Homosapien, Rass kass, Planet Asia, and Suga Free.

And even though they fell off/disbanded Xzibit, Tha Alkoholiks, Souls of Mischief, Tha Pharcyde, and Saafir were dope.

Yeah Cali has a ton of nice mc's.

Westside was big in europe at the time. Stutter by Joe was good as well. Loved dilated peoples worst comes to worst too.

Its weird seeing Jay Sean getting hits in the states. The guy has been around since like 2003.

Have any of you yanks heard heard of Taio Cruz yet

One of my favorite rappers is from LA, and he goes by Aceyalone. You could thank NFL2K for introducing him to me. He sounds a helluva lot like Del the Funkee Homosaipien too.

Yup, all of them.
I liked King Tee to. Remeber how fast some of them beats was

Frankly, I'm surprised to know that songs about how much you love California could be so popular in Europe.

"I Just Wanna Know" was my jam. Then the radio stations never played anything else by him again.

:funny:

I can't remember one single time that Luther was EVER romantically linked to a woman in the media or otherwise. Can any of you?

Okay, this cut right here was my s*** back in the early 90s. The spitting wasn't exactly stellar, but for the time it was hot. Any of you remember it?

Nah, he never was. I do remember him saying in an interview that getting married was something he eventually wanted to do. Of course he didn't say to whom...or what gender that person would be heh heh.

As for Digable Planets, their second album was even better than the first.

Yeah that song was pretty big in england at the time and so was the other single he had after that one. I cant remember the name but it was pretty huge.

He was pretty cool, I remember his "comeback" on cashmoney and it was errr well not that good.

As for west coast goes, I havent really been into any west coast music in a looooooooong time. And you know I really like the flow and the accent of most west coast rappers.

And nope I've never heard of Luther being linked with a female but then again when he was around I was about as old as 10 :funny:

I love this song, it's on my iPod. Whatever happened to Digable Planets?

I think they suffered a lot of backlash from Hip Hop heads because they received a LOT more mainstream attention than groups who were far better (De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest).

Whatever happened to Digable Planets?

Buttafly had a band for a while (may still have it for all I know) called Cherrywine.

Ladybug had a solo album a couple years ago...mostly singing if I recall correctly.

The other dude (Doodlebug) I have no idea.
