double:

am i the only one who doesn't think luthor and walter white are the same? ruthlessness, sure. selfishness, sure. bald, sure. but when does lex cry or beg for his life like walter does? luthor would never have the heart to let someone who betrays him live like walter does. their characters are so different. lex doesn't have anything to prove, nor was he deemed weak or a pushover. walter white is that to a tee.

while I don't think the two characters are the same I believe this fan casting rumor was started because...Cranston plays a bald villain on TV.

Nonsense.

No one on this board has ever fancasted an actor for Lex Luthor just because he has a bald head.

Billy Zane agrees with you :p

Has anyone mentioned Bobby Cannavale for Luthor? I think he'd be fantastic.

I'd argue that Jim Gordon is an easier role to pull off than Lex Luthor is though

Agreed I am not a superman fan by any stretch of an imagination but I would never down play characters other people care about.

Gordon is definitely an easier character to play but to trash him and call him a "turd" is completely ridiculous. :whatever:

Bobby Canavale isn't a bad actor, I'm not seeing him as Lex though.

Bobby Cannavale should play Ben Grimm in the F4 reboot.

Damian Lewis is a really good idea, his commitments to Homeland would probably get in the way of a multi film contract

Damian Lewis has a good balance of anger and intelligence. I choose Michael C. Hall for the same reasons. Michael C. Hall is better because he has a 3rd talent - anger, intelligence AND comedic timing.

Lewis had comedic timing in Your Highness. Sure, it was a terrible movie, but it was funny in some parts.

if he wasn't already Bane Hardy would of been good

Not really. I love Hardy but his voice/accent and mannerisms have nothing to do with Lex.

I think Hardy would have made a good Lex, but it's a dead issue. It can't and won't happen.

Hardy would make a sweet Lex if he could do an American accent

I was trying to get at the clear visual similarities between Lex's suit and Hardy's wardrobe in Nemesis.

Tom Hardy is one of the best actors around, no one needs to defend the idea of him as Lex

That is probably true.

But it's also probably because Cranston has shown that he's a very good actor capable of playing an extremely multi-faceted character that's rich in his complexities.

And I think many people are tired of seeing the rather cliche Lex we've gotten in the past films, and they desire for a more complex villain.

Granted, Cranston is by no means the only actor who could do that, but because he's done it so brilliantly in BB, I would love to see him do it with a character like Lex.

I just know that Lex won't even compare to Walter. Walter was one of the most well written characters of all time... Lex is one of my favorite comic book villains for sure, but almost any role is going to be a step down from Walter White

Obviously it's going to be different. Walter White was written spectacularly and he had the added benefit of five seasons of television to help create his wonderfully complex character.

However, Cranston is a very good actor and I wouldn't mind bringing him in to play a more complicated Lex. I don't care if it's a step down from Walter or not, because Lex is going to be a different character.

Question.

Why do people still think it's going to be Cranston?
