Going to have to disagree with you there. I know that Strong has played a lot of villains as of late, but if you look over the whole of his career, he's played heroic or at least morally ambiguous characters plenty of times. I think people are assuming he'd play Lex the same way that he played he villain in Kick-Ass, and while there are perhaps some similarities in the two characters (both are wealthy business owners) that villain was much more a mobster type. If you watch Strong in Low Winter Sun, Rock N Rolla and Sunshine (he was a villain there but he was f***ing terrifying), I think you can see that he's a very versatile actor who could possibly give us the Lex we've all wanted to see for a long time.

I see casting Strong the same way I would have seen the suggestion of Billy Zane in the 90s

Billy Zane was great in Titanic, he just took really bad roles afterwards

I think dicaprio would be my fav choice.

Im still rooting for Wilson as well. He just has that look and personality where to the public he looks like a honest good narured man, and behind closed doors he is the Luthor we all know and hate. Lol

Yeah I see you're point. Perhaps i'm being a bit pessimistic about it. It certainly wouldn't be the end of the world if he would cast.

Of all the rumored actors,
I think Strong has the best chance .

At the risk of being laughed at, I think that Brad Pitt could be a good choice.

Ironically, the only manip I could find was for Xavier. BUT I think he has features that are soft, yet intense.

is generic yet popular bald actor cast as lex luthor yet?

Michael Fassbender!, perfect redhead, who cares if he's magneto!

I'd rather he be bald.

The actor who plays him doesn't have to be bald in general, but I'd rather Lex be bald.

And bald all the time. Not half the time with some dumbass rug.

My druthers would be a Luthor that starts out the film like Roger Stern's Lex Luthor II in the 90's. Throw in a pinch of Red Son's Lex, along with Byrne's Lex and voila!

I also still think Lex should have his hair for most of the film until the end when, yes, something Superman has to do ends up causing Lex to lose his crimson tresses. Now this is not THE reason Lex hates Supes... But it is just one more iron to throw onto that fire, so to speak.

since goyer loves earth one, lex should have longer hair and a beard, go by "dr. lex luthor" and be married to a woman named alexandra.

Billy Zane was great in Titanic, he just took really bad roles afterwards

That's the difference between Zane and Strong. Zane was good in ONE movie (or two if you count his amazing performance as himself in Zoolander).

Strong has been a standout in a number of films. The only reason people are considering it lazy casting is because 1. Stong has played quite a few villains recently and 2. he's bald.

Yeah, he's not my #1 pick (not sure who is anymore, to be honest) but I think he'd be a good one. I like the Phoenix suggestion too, although he would probably only take the role if Lex was written as a bi-polar sex addict and part-time rapper who falls in love with his Siri personal assistant, lol.

Basically I want an actor who would have to really stretch to be a bad guy so we see him actually attempting to switch it up from his usual. Unfortunately a lot of the good actors have all played bad guys before. Sometimes that's all they've played.

I remember awhile ago bringing up Snyder's words regarding his Lex Luthor being a Brad Pitt colliding with a Richard Branson. The one actor, who I automatically thought of when combing the two actors, who I really, really like was Phillip Seymour Hoffman. He fits that description quite nicely and can pull a modern Luthor off. He's got a nice chunk of hair too (Pitt) and the ginger of Branson.

Fans over analyze the "looks" department for Lex as their depictions have to fall in line PERFECTLY to the comic character. In a modern age, I think the look off Hoffman can pull Snyder's vision off:

I can certainly, without question, see vision in which Snyder described (Brossman/Pitt) and I hope they take this route other than the usual "Lex needs to be bald, young, fit and as good looking as Superman blabblah" debate. It's what makes the film direction exciting. It's all in how the director sees it rather than the current comic book realm of things when it comes to appearance. IMHO, Hoffman would NAIL IT.
