I can see Cruise as Lex now: In a boardroom setting, doing the Jerry Maguire thing, trying to convince Bruce Wayne, in the most intense way possible that he should do a joint venture with Lexcorp. to fund advanced weapon systems to protect the human race from threats from beyond... And those closer to home. :word:

He'd freaking kill it!

He'll be telling him: "I'll show you the money!":o

Listening to Snyder's words on Lex. I'm doubtful that he's going to be the main villain.

I'm certain he'll be in it. But in no more than a small role -a cameo, near the end.

I feel like he'll be a supporting character just nit the villain per say.

I hope he is at least one of the villains. The fall-out related to the events of MOS would create an ideal situation for him.

^I'm thinking that too.

It'd be cool to see Lex descend into villainy somehow, ready for the next solo Superman film. I wouldn't mind that to be honest.

Why do you say that? I think I've read all of Snyder's comments on Lex. I didn't get that vibe, the comments were too ambiguous to take anything away about how big his role will be

Ambiguous, yes.

It's just the way I'm picturing it. He's speaking too casual about Lex. Do directors do that? I mean, it's no secret that we know Lex exists, obviously.

But Snyder has just seemed to talk about Lex in idea's and what he has in mind, when simply approached by interviewers.
It just seems a little odd for him to openly talk and discuss his next potential villain, rather than just casually brushing things off.

Nolan never did that with the Joker. Imagine if he did?
That would've spoiled the mystery.

What would the point? Everyone knows that Lex is gonna show up. There is no mystery.

It's just the manner in Snyder is openly discussing him.

We knew Joker was going to appear appear in TDK, but he was still a mystery to us.
Nolan wanted to keep things closely guarded, right down to the simplest detail.

Snyder seems to be openly discussing his ideas with any Tom, Dick or Harry, who approaches him about it.

It just leaves me thinking, that if Lex is casually being discussed, is it because he doesn't have a big role? or isn't the villain yet? Are things just not that important for privacy?

Probably just because Nolan is intensely secretive, Snyder not so much.

If they can make Thor a popular/relatable hero, they still can't make Aquaman popular or relatable. Sorry, didn't know where I was going with that...

I believe soon we will find out if Luthor is a major player in the film. He maybe considered to be a supporting character at first and in the end he becomes man of steel's arch enemy. You never know what Snyder and Goyer are hinting at when it comes to lex . Lexcorp was shown in the first film.

All he's said is that he imagines him as a mixture of Branson and Brad Pitt. That's not openly discussing him, that tells us nothing. But I do get what you're saying, i feel like Nolan gave tiny little comments like that on Joker before he cast Heath

As much as I'd like Lex to be the primary villain, dawn Zod's battlesuit and take on Superman in a physical battle, I'll be satisfied enough with him just being included.

agreed. I'm not interested in seeing him get locked up this early.

Snyder has nothing to hide. People know Lex exists.
He was just put on the spot regarding Lex's absence and how he would appear next time.

But if I were Snyder, I wouldn't even have gave a single detail about the colour of Lex's eyes! I would've been more evasive if I knew he was going to appear in the next movie.
Snyder was just too open about things.

I just have a feeling Lex is either going to be a supporting character, or makes a cameo before the end. I know people would moan if Lex was in it and wasn't villainous or something.

^ Actually, I think people moan if LL was a more prominent villain. I think most want to see a different supervillian. Having Lex be a puppet master would give us the best of both worlds: an intelligent, deceptive manipulator and an unfamiliar dangerous foe.

That's what I want to see. Maybe Lexcorp got a hold of Zod's suit, but they made their own modifications on it (I actually want a toned down green and purple suit). So visually it wouldn't look like Supes fighting a bald Zod.

But if Supes and Lex have a physical battle, I want it to be in a secretive place where no civilians can see, so Lex can still keep up his good image. I want to see President Lex down the line

That makes me very, very happy right now...if that's true.

Yeah. I don't him to turn out like the Joker in the Nolan series. That character was set up so well to return down the line, yet it never happens.

Yes!! I always imagined it over some military base in either a large desert or around the Fortress of Solitude. Not sure how the Fortress thing can work now though.
