Denzel Washington would make an interesting Lex. I also like it cause it is an out of the box choice.

I like it! I didn't think of him before, but now that you've said it...he could be good. He can come off very charming, but also dangerous as well.

Aside from the melanin in his skin, I don't think it is "out of the box". It would be excellent casting.

CBN claiming via their "trusted" WB source (:whatever:)
that Tom Hanks is in consideration for the role, and Mark Strong is no longer a contender...

If Hanks gets the role, I have a feeling he will be a very twisted, yet intelligent as all heck Lex.

Imagine his portrayel as Lex being a more megalomaniacal and evil genius Robert Langdon type. Kinda like how Robin Williams played a sly, witty, yet demented sicko in Insomnia. That is how I would see Hanks playing with that sly, witty, charming public persona, but behind the curtain is a sick demented evil genius type.

Hanks can be pretty evil

I tried, it is very disturbing. I would love to see his version.

Maybe that's the appeal?

Nice guy, Hanks, becoming a twisted and ruthless madman.

I just know 9/10 of his films, he makes me cry :(

I really don't see Hanks as Lex, he's an amazing actor, but I can't see it, even if I could he'd be too old for the part.

I'm not a Denzel fan. Never have been. Good actor, but everything that I've seen him in he plays the same character.

I've been really warming up to Luke Evans as Lex, if Snyder wants someone a little younger. Michael C. Hall sounds like the best pick to me, but Evans is probably in my top-5 now.

Michael C. Hall, John Hamm, Mark Strong, Jackie Earl Haley (already out) and Luke Evans round out my top picks right now.

If Lex is indeed going to be the villain in this film how in the hell has there not been a casting leak or leak about which actors are being sought for the role or are in the running, like virtually every other major superhero movie casting?

I am actually starting to doubt that Lex will even be the villain in this one tbh. I wouldn't be surprised too much if snyder goes with another superpowered villain as the main baddie?

There was some activity. Just this week we've had rumblings of Terry O'Quinn(Locke from Lost) and Jackie Earle Hayley(Rorshach from Watchmen). Plus Snyder more or less didn't deny Lex Luthor which Kevin Smith went along with.

I have a feeling Kevin Smith knows more stuff about the film other than how Affleck looks in the Batsuit.

I'm sure that he does, but if he leaked anymore, he'd probably be banned from things like this. I'm a big fan of Smith, so I hope that's never the case.

according to cbm, purefoy turned the role of luthor down. too bad. purefoy's a really good actor.

My dream Lex would have to be Mark Strong. Loved his work in Sherlock Holmes and Green Lantern.

He's getting on in years too. What's with people thinking Luthor should be about 60? Don't get me wrong, Cranston, Washington, Hanks, they look good for their age, but they're already in their late 50s. Why can't we put a soft limit at around 40? Maybe he can be a little older, but he really shouldn't be 50.
Anyone on that Batman shortlist would be a good Lex
This is one way of looking at it that I can appreciate. Bruce has to be able to nail the affable role of the playboy and the sinister role of the threatening Batman too, so anyone who can do one should be able to do well as the other. I actually really like the idea of posing Luthor as a mirror to Batman.

Well, if you're talking fanboy criteria, you're spot-on. But for now, we don't know for sure what WB is looking for, we only have rumors. But if the rumors are to be believed, they already turned one bald guy down (Jackie Earle Haley).

i am :)

I like to see Michael C. Hall...not bald but with a head full of ALMOST shoulder length red hair

because the rumors keep mentioning older bald actors, or older actors who have shaved their heads for past roles. that's the reason.

mcconnaughey would be interesting especially since he's recently proven his range in some of his darker dramas. i would expect it to be someone in their 40s. it's more believable.
