I'd like to see someone mid to late 30's, early 40's...red hair, yet bald. Or with long red locks....either or. Someone who is charming and can make the city of Metropolis believe that they have the best interests of the city at heart but deep down they are an evil megalomaniac businessman with no interest in real estate

I'd honestly be happy with someone like Micheal C Hall or Damian Lewis. I'm hoping for Mark Strong though.

Shannon isn't an A-Lister and he was cast as Zod so we might be surprised.

Exactly.

He was rocking the bald head in Reign of Fire. Despite being a bad movie and Christian Bale as the lead, Matthew was the best part of that film. Chewing up scenery like a lawnmower chews up grass. :funny:

Now I'm hearing rumors that Jackie Earle Haley is trying out for a role in this film.

Reign of Fire wasn't all that bad of a film IMO. Pretty decent for a post apocalyptic dragon film.

Bale and McConaghey were good. So was Gerard Butler.

I'd love to have Michael C. Hall....he's tops on my list and Michael Cerveris aka September

It was fairly watchable and interesting..until the plot actually took place. Once the crazy dragon hunter showed up, it pretty much became obvious how things would turn out

I met him when I was on holiday in the US. Super nice guy let me take a photo with him. :woot:

Funnily enough I have. Though I don't have a great memory of that movie. However after having Google some images I still don't think he fits the bald look. Much better with a full head of hair imo.

Yeah. I guess this role was supposed to be for Arnold. Imagine that.

Matthew played a good crazy dragon hunter. He would be a bad ass Lex, especially if he got back in shape.

If he is Lex, than that would rule him out as King Arthur/Aquaman.

criteria for this role seems to be:

1.be bald
2. see #1
3. maybe know how to act?
4.uh did i say "be bald"?

1. Be bald.
2. Play bad guys well.

:D

Because playing against type is too foreign a concept ;)

of course it is! to the rumors or fancasts. whos the most random decent actorthat never been mentioned?

It depends on the type of Lex they're going for. Is it the misunderstood tortured Rosenbum Lex, The Suave and Evil Shea Lex, The Campy but shifty Hackman and Spacy Lex, or the Reserved Puppet Master Lex of STAS?

For the MOS universe I actually picture a younger ambitious and competitive but deadly Lex...which is why I envision someone like Henry's old co-star John Ryes Meyers from Dracula as Lex. With Affleck as Wayne however, they may want to go for someone around his age who's more seasoned and has been around the block.

Are folks set on a white only Lex? If not how bout idris elba or denzel washington.

I wasn't meaning to rip on it, I own it on DVD and like the film. It's not what I would consider a great film is all.

Fine to me.

Denzel's a little too old now though. Would have been great 10-15 years ago.

Ejiofor's a good pick imo.

Shannon is an Oscar nominee and also he wasn't playing Lex was he? I don't think it has to be an A-lister but I do think it will be in that sorta respected and or Oscar nominee wheelhouse.

Sure Shannon was on a T.V show but he was known as being a movie actor as well, hence the Oscar nom. I just don't see a straight T.V actor getting the gig. I love T.V actors and would be happy if a talented one scored the gig I just don't see Warners allowing that to happen.

Well, if you're talking fanboy criteria, you're spot-on. But for now, we don't know for sure what WB is looking for, we only have rumors. But if the rumors are to be believed, they already turned one bald guy down (Jackie Earle Haley).

Bruce Willis would be great. Not just because he's bald but he could be a real badass Lex.

Uh, no, Lex is not a "bad guy". He's a smarmy business type who does what he feels is necessary and right. He's not evil, he's not even "bad", even if he does things which many may consider bad. When he breaks the law, he considers it justified. He sees himself as the hero, as the true ubermensch, protecting humankind from the alien threat. Unless you prefer the Luthor who steals forty cakes. That'd be terrible.

I think someone who is better known as a "good guy" would work just as well if not better. He shouldn't have an innately sinister look about him, he should be charming and handsome. Perhaps even friendly and approachable, at least when interacting with characters outside his inner circle.

In the first episode of Breaking Bad that Walter White actually shaves his head, the first thing I thought was, "he'd make such a badass Lex!" He's menacing when he wants to be, and is believably intelligent.

Ejiofor is gonna go places for sure. Another interesting name thrown on here was Giancarlo Esposito.
