BvS Lex Luthor Casting Thread - Part 3

True Detective (which I think he finished before Interstellar) is going to have different stories and different lead characters each season. It's possible that McConaughey/Harrelson won't be back for the second season, though it could be like American Horror Story and have them play different characters.

Oh... cool!! I actually like that idea. I doubt he wins the Oscar (Chiwetel has that in the bag, I believe) but certainly he's looking at a nomination. Either way, Luther would be in markedly good hands.

Matthew McConaughey, is not somebody I thought of initially, but that could definitely work. I don't want to see an old man play it, I don't care how talented he is. My ideal choice would be Dicaprio, but he is so particular about what he does, I doubt he would do it. That age though, I think would work better.

6. Matt Damon (age 43) - Probably the most obvious choice to play Lex Luthor seeing his relationship with Ben Affleck. The two go hand in hand like peanut butter and jelly. Damon and Affleck are best friends and distant cousins. Damon also landed a small role in Christopher Nolan's Interstellar which can't be a coincidence. Could it be that Damon has already landed the role of Lex Luthor and everybody's being fed a bunch of follow-the-yellow-brick-road?!

Ugh. Political propaganda in Batman vs. Superman.

I didn't see Hammer's character in TSN as a bad guy, how simplistic to describe him as such.

I don't understand this comment, like at all.

EDIT: No scratch the coy b.s. I do know what you mean. Goyer is writing the movie so why do you give a crap about Damon's political views one way or the other. Do I avoid Bruce Willis movies because he isn't a liberal? No I do not, I only avoid them if they look like crap.

Yellow brick road means...The road to the emerald city, which is Washington. ..and the wizard is Obama?

:funny: Oh that dude is a disaster.

Anyway I don't want another old Luthor, I want someone around Affleck's age or even younger. I mean nobody thought that a 27 year old would play the Joker so who knows what we are going to get in that regard.

It all depends on what Goyer and Snyder have up their sleeves. I'll except an older actor but I'll be disappointed for a little while.

Yep, I have a cloak just like that too.

Hey remember when people said that Wes Bentley was going to be cast as Batman because he was in Interstellar? And remember when they cast a guy who has never been in a Nolan movie to play Batman? Can we please stop pretending that the MM is more likely just because he is in a Nolan movie already? It's getting annoying.

jon hamm would be great. but he already played luthor in a funny or die sketch.

What would Interstellar have to do with this? Nolan isn't even involved here. He's being an executive producer credit purely based on his involvement with Man of Steel. His casting choices have nothing to do with this project.

I have been saying the same thing forever. There is no proof that Nolan is working on SvB, none what-so-ever.

You're right. The "executive producer" credit is typically given as an honorary title. It's not as if he has anything to do with budgeting, which is the primary responsibility of a producer. He's not involved, WB is just milking the name and spinning it as a "thank you."
