I think it was a combo of alcohol and anger management.
I seriously doubt Diane Lane wants to work with him. Im sure they could work out a schedule that they could avoid each other but still.

Are there any other bald men we can suggest?

Stone Cold Steve Austin for Lex Luthor.

I just saw that. Yeah, he needs to get himself sobered up.

Maybe WB's and Snyder said they will consider casting him as Lex...IF he checks himself into rehab? :oldrazz:

If not Brolin, than hope the can get McConaghey.

Brolin is not going to be apart of this franchise. He's a hot mess and Warners wouldn't do that to Diane Lane at this point.

I forgot about that. Are they divorced yet, or still in the process?

It will all come down to whether WB was impressed by his fighting skills in the hallway scene in Oldboy.

Im kinda digging the thought of Joel Edgerton for Lex.

I like that idea too. I suggested it a while back after watching The Great Gatsby but it didn't really gain any traction.

Im not too sure. They would have to see each other during promotional events, I really can't see it happening.

He's worked with Snyder. He also has this arrogance to him at times and yet can be extremely charming. Might not be a big enough name though.

Yeah, I can't see that happening either, though he's not a bad choice. I heard things got really contentious between them. Lane had filed before, but they later reconciled. I read in one of the gossip mags it was his work on Gangster's Squad that started him back down the path. Rumors were it was a "boy's set" with lots of drinking, hazing and...other stuff.

Nobody cares about the Oldboy remake.

I know. I was just poking fun at El Mayimbe there. He actually said that the hallway scene in that movie was what "convinced" WB to cast him as Batman in this movie.

He lost a LOT of credibility with that (though some would argue he never had any in the first place).

I hope they don't get too hung up on having a big name. He's a recognizable and versatile actor that could shine in the role, and that should be all that matters. I hope they're not only targeting megastars for this, because it's giving me nightmares that I'll wake up to the news "BRUCE WILLIS CAST AS LEX LUTHOR."

I know you're actually serious but I don't want to believe it. He actually said that? And that's what his blind followers don't want to admit, he didn't just say Brolin was being considered for the role he practically said that Brolin had the role. He was wrong and that's okay but he shouldn't be treated like some sort of geek god.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

People have mentioned Synder's casting choices and I had never really noticed that before, but I admit when watching his movies I never feel someone is out of place. I may not like them as an actor, but they fit.

This again is why I'm hoping he makes a bold choice for Lex and surprises us with someone that may be unexpected.

I agree.
I'd just love to hear about anyone that's up for the role so we can get an idea of what they are looking for. Young, old, fit?
If Lex is even a part of it, though I'd bet he will be. I can see them wanting to stick with the Crowe, Costner template of big award winners though. Especially when you have people like Hanks publicly stating they would love a role like this.

Does El Mayimbe actually have followers?

I thought people just see what he has to say for a laugh, like we all do :o

Tom Hanks said he wants to play Lex. Wow... I didn't know that. He's great actor...but NO to Tom Hanks.

Yeah, he said it. It was on his Twitter. It probably still is, though it would probably take you all day to scroll through his tweets to find it. He also said Gosling had "no shot" because he got his ass kicked in a fight scene in Only God Forgives (because I guess in his world, losing a fight in a movie where you were directed to lose a fight somehow means you can't play Batman).

I actually like Mayimbe overall but once in a while he says sh** that is so outlandish I wonder if he has any reliable sources at all.

Yeah, I'm hoping it's someone that NONE of us thought of but we're all like, "Oh, THAT guy! He's perfect! Why didn't I think of that?!" Guess we'll see.

I agree.

Yeah, I hope we get some idea soon. We've gotten some rumors (Cranston, Strong, O'Quinn) but they were probably BS. The only one that might have had some credibility was Strong, since they asked him about it and he was coy with his answer.

Those followers yelled at me when I questioned the Brolin news. I wish people just pointed and laughed at them. I told them if Brolin was not cast as Batman like they said he would be that I would never let it go. And I am most assuredly never letting it go.

He didn't technically say Lex but…

"They don’t ask me, man. I keep trying. Come on, I can do it. I can do it. Even let me play a bad guy, let me play the bad guy against Batman. I’ll do anything, call me. They’ve never asked. What do I gotta do? God, I want to throw a shield at somebody. I want that. And I don’t want to play the guy in the suit who tells the superheroes what’s going on, I don’t want to be that guy. ‘Well, you know Batman, Captain America, Iron Man, here’s what we’ve discovered,’ I don’t want to be that guy. I want to get in there, I want to play The Flash or something like that. They’ll never give me a chance."

I actually think he'd make a fantastic Luthor.
