Yes instead of getting another one of those pesky good actors for Lex lets get the guy from bad straight to DVD or T.V movies! That's the ticket to making the next movie a success creatively and financially.

Irrelevant. Look at Jackie Earle Haley's career before Watchmen brought him back from the dead.

People suggest Zane because he is an absolute dead ringer for Lex and he proved in Titanic that he can play an egotistical rich SOB.

You are 100% correct.

This Thread has carried on for much too long and carried over from the MOS thread besides that. I have always loved Zack's casting choices but for some reason I am a little doubtful that I'll like this one for some reason.

I have my own idea of who I think would be perfect along with some great suggestions from members here. I should have more faith but I am running thin when it comes to this character. Idk why...

Yeah, I really want them to knock this casting out of the park, but I'm worried about it. Because Lex is a character that they've never gotten right on film, IMO. Smallville is the only one that came close, but there he wasn't fully formed yet. Hackman's Luthor in Superman '78 was actually pretty good, but even he was a bit too jokey for my taste and it always bugged me that he refused to shave his head for the role (his hair was bad anyway).

I know this is a website about comicbook and genre films primarily but you should be aware that Little Childern was his comeback role. He even got this little thing called an Oscar nomination. Watchmen brought him into the blockbuster arena but it was not his comeback role.

Comparing Billy Zane to Jackie Earle Haley is almost as ridiculous as comparing Megan Fox to Helen Mirren.

It's never been right on film. So many Almost Lex Luthors but not one who made me believe he was the One.

They've all either didn't have the right motivation for the character or just completely didn't look the part. Or in Smallville's case was the Younger version. I want the graphic novel "Man of Steel: Lex Luthor" version. The Man, the genius, the seducer of Metropolis, the manipulator, the villian, the true arch-nemesis of Superman.

I want to look at him just like I look at Henry and say, "Damn, he jump right off the pages of a Superman comic".

Yes. I think Brolin is definitely a possibility as Lex. He has the look and the acting chops.

The other thing that is interesting, is that he decided against being in the Jurassic World movie. So that tells me, that he either dropped out of that to take on a potential Oscar worthy role or be in another big franchise type of film like the Superman/Batman?

He already had discussions with Snyder about Batman, maybe they stayed connected regarding Lex?

I'm sure expecting some casting announcements to occur very soon by Thanksgiving or right after.

If filming starts in Feb/March, they need to cast Lex soon and well as that new female role.
