I love Brad Pitt :(

True Romance, Kalifornia, Fight Club, Se7en, Benjamin Button, Interview with the Vampire, Oceans Eleven, Inglourious Basterds, Burn After Reading, he was awesome in all of them

I think he's one of the most likable actors in Hollywood, and one of my favorites

He was pretty perfect as Achilles in Troy as well. An underrated film, imo.

Fine.:cmad:

Well, Tyrese Gibson has a nice big ol' bald head for Lex.

Or they could stop being in films, opening the door to more interesting and less overexposed actors.

Well like who exactly? Indulge us...

Hey, everyone wants their cake and they want to eat too huh? :yay:

I'm not surprised we haven't heard a casting choice for Lex. I think that they are trying to get who they are trying to get (a big star) and work out schedules. There is no need to cast Luthor right now. They could cast Luthor in February and it wouldn't surprise me. The Luthor actor is not going to get as much screentime as the leads anyway.

You're probably right. I just wish we had some sort of inkling at the type of actors they're looking at. Though I guess everything is pretty hush hush.

Oh Spidey...I do finally see what you mean about the division. I didn't see it that way because it's not like it was after SR, but wow...it is there. :oldrazz:

I'm against the idea that any of the "flavor of the month" guys would be bad Lex Luthors. Probably because I see each one as being perfect for a specific interpretation of Lex's personality.

Cooper strikes me as an excellent charming Lex in the vein of Clancy Brown and Gene Hackman, a kind of Loki-caliber villain who can have fans in his corner even while doing horrible things.

McConaghey makes me think of an intensely jealous and intimidating Luthor who would appeal to fans through charisma and would have a thin but appreciable veneer of control and charm.

Matt Damon would probably be a great tragic villain Lex, believable and sympathetic but crushing because of his lack of faith in humanity and utter cynicism in comparison to even Batman.

Arguably, Lex is an even more adaptable role than the Joker, since really as long as he's smart and obsessed with defeating Superman, almost any skilled actor could shave their head and find some resonating core with which to portray the character.
nicolas cage?

Nicholas Cage would love to be Lex. Though I think he would just like a good paying role at this point. His direct to Netflix movies can't be paying well.

I think his time has passed for Lex. After the movie Face Off, I think he would been a great Lex in a Superman film instead of WB's and Burton casting him AS Superman.

Yikes!

I can see Cage lobbying Synder like Jackson did just to be in the movie...lol. That man named his son Kal-El. He has to be in at least one movie for that fact alone.

Good observations and thoughts God.

You basically went more in depth than I did about what these actors would bring to the table as Lex. This is why I think McConagheys, Coopers, Damons and Pitts would be good choices. Since they are not too old and not too young and they can bring some charisma, charm, yet bad boy intellect and wickedness to Lex, with some physicality to boot.

What do you think Brad Pitt would be bring to the role?

Here you go...just for you:

I think Pitt's an awesome actor, and love him in most things he's in, but I really don't see him as Lex. I like the Cooper and Mcconaghey suggestions though, I could see them doing it. That said, Hamm dammit.

Prolly not gonna happen but this is the kinda actors id want for lex.
Elba, mortensen, hanks, bean, damon, depp, washington.

I should say that day-lewis would be my #1 choice but i think i would win the lottery before that would ever happen.

Oh so you finally see the division, welcome to hell! :funny:

I'm just completely over Depp. I still like him but nah I don't want any dumb Luthor quirks. I feel the same way about Nic Cage. And I feel that Bean would be boring but outside of over fancasting I can't really argue against the other choices. Hell it's not an original choice but I've been saying from the get-go that I wish Affleck could get Damon to play Luthor. And I fancast him before he shaved his head.

My gut ( and logic ) say that affleck will at least mention it to damon.
Some other actors on down the list i wouldnt hate on, brody, cruise, gibson, fassbender, law.

And if we get the joker, there is but one choice, glover.

Definately liking the idea of MM as Lex.

Pitt would probably play a Lex who actually does come off as a superior thinker and stronger willed person than Bats and Superman. The ultimate übermensch, completely divorced from any regular sense of morality.

Cage... Well, heck, Cage would probably be a near pitch perfect portrayal (alliteration for the win) of Grant Morrison's crazy awesome Lex, albeit probably a bit hammy even by other Lex's standards. He definitely seems like the type to be waving a baseball bat around as part of his intricate remote control henchman plan for seemingly no reason.

Lex should be calm, cool, and disarming, but when he loses it, he should go batshet crazy.
Cage fits that but I can no longer stand him.

If Lex is going to be a bit older, how about Danny Huston? Yeah, I know he was in XO: Wolverine, but I wouldn't hold that against him.

He would be fine..
I was just thinking, how cool would it be if they could get clancy brown. he is 54, so....

Do you know who Brad Pitt is?

not everyone agrees with you about Brad Pitt. He's a decorated and incredibly well respected actor. His 3 Academy Award nominations prove his legitimacy.

The fact that I was disagreeing with someone else is sufficient indication that not everyone agrees with me, but thanks anyway.

lol

Danny Huston is a fine actor, definitely wouldn't want him as Lex though, he's never wowed me in any of his performances

Ive been saying McConaughay should be Lex for several months. Id like to think i was one of the first supporters. But i dont see it happening because of his True Detective series. Unless the scheduling is different.
