The first trailer starting in detention made that more than obvious.
Character-wise the main departure from the TV show, is they are not all friends at the start, but all from different clicks, and total screw ups.
At detention and during their "adventure" they all become friends, which is straight up the Breakfast Club. .

Becky G. in a recent interview has since confirmed, the lines they gave her to audition were from The Breakfast Club.

As long as they're more likable than the original Breakfast Club, I'm cool.

To be fair, they weren't supposed to be easily likable and get along with each other, as conditioned by their family and clicks. That was the point, what that movie was about.

PR is likely just loosely borrowing the set up and a quick template for 5 easily recognizable character tropes, who will quickly bond and move on to much more important sci-fi fantasy elements.

With a bit of draaamaaa thrown in - Kimberly rebelling and cutting her hair, Trini being a complete stranger to her parents looking to shock them, Jason being the over pressured Jock...copy...paste...repeat...etc...

who told you that? I`m from germany. We have special showing where its english but thats only in bigger cities and always as addition to the Dub. Certainly not in my ****** town^^

Standard is Dub. Exception is subs. Maybe you think of Poland? there it´s sub and later for tv dub ( not always). Movies for children are dubbed in poland for cinema.

I was in Cologne and we were thinking of going to see Civil War there, I asked around if it was English and they told me it was and it may have subtitles.

Ok it`s possible that cologne had a second screening in english. But it`s always in german too.

Krispy Kreme, who makes amazingly tasty doughnuts, is teaming up with the Power Rangers Movie to make custom glazed doughnuts to advertise the upcoming movie! The donuts will be chocolate glazed topped with a morphinominal lightning bolt in the 5 representative colors!

The Doughnuts should be hitting Krispy Kreme stores from February 27th through April 2nd!
Thanks to Twitter user @CDawhare you can already head to Walmart where 6 packs of the Doughnuts are already on sale!

As we’ve seen previously in BTS photos of the movie, Krispy Kreme must have some hand of financial backing or product placement in the movie as you can see in the photo above.

Why do multiple movies tout itself with having Breakfast Club dynamics? Great 80s movie but geez, get some fresh inspirations.

Maybe its just these actors spouting whatever PR they are being told to say but lazy comparison is lazy.

So Lionsgate is promoting the 2 fun and cheesy tv spots, and are not promoting the dark rita tv spot,
i think they should be promoting this movie's dark tones, we already have the people who want to see power rangers, we need the non power ranger fans, they need to play up the movie's dark tone, and even cut a breakfast club style tv spot with rangers in school
