Weak in what sense?

It lacks energy. It robs the energy of Morphin Time and the transformation. They have to join hands in front of this globe thing to do it. It's boring.

What's the purpose of the power coins? Why are they not allowed to use Morphers? Why did they even build morpher toy units??

To give them their powers.
They can already morph without them (power to believe!)
Isn't that literally their belt-less buckle?

This is like the 5th time you have made a post like this....just drop it. The studio can take care of itself....it doesn't need you harassing the posters here at the HYPE to give them their money. So stop it now.

It lacks people shouting dinosaur names, not energy.

The film makes it clear that they do not have to join hands. They choose to, because, you know, bonding.

You are describing the precise reasons it is less boring than the original stock morph.

The power coins hold the power. They ARE the Morphers.

They built morpher toys because the tech doesn't exist or isn't being used to cheaply make power coins that do what the morpher/coin toys do.

No the coins are not he morphers because they already gave the armour inside them as explicitly stated by Zordon. Rita and Billy morph earlier on at will.

IMHO it's just not a fun transformation. Once again Guard, I'm not understanding why you've gone all in on defending this movie. It ain't that good. Not exactly some sort of Mad Max: Fury Road sitch here.

The original transformation was so over the top & campy, the same stock footage. I don't see how it was better in any way? The movie actually made the morph mean something & actually made it cool.

Because he went all in before the movie came out.

The way you talk about it, it is amazing anyone ever loved Power Rangers before this movie. :funny:

Having a transformation sequence can be great - there's no need to have stock footage either. You can do real-time transformations Iron Man style. It's been done in Sentai for over a decade. Having a transformation call and roll call is much more dynamic and can be done, even in a more realistic PR setting.

I'm not hopeful, but maybe, juuuuuuusssssst maybe there's a chance China falls in love with this move for some reason and the BO over there puts this movie in the black. Again, its a pipe dream but stranger things have happened, look at Warcraft. Although Warcraft probably had much more spectacle to it. Whatever happens in China and Japan though, the studio is no way happy with this performance.

So standing around doing a kumbaya moment was better? When they morph its suppose to be exciting and kinda a "It's about to go down" moment. In the film it just happens. Also why did they even have to stand around in that circle for them to morph? It was pointless. They could have just morphed without standing in those pads.

Warcraft is a bad example. For how popular it is in China, and how well it opened, it dropped like a rock.

"Henshin" is probably where I've seen it work best as a dramatic entry.

Roll call is where they drew the line due to that particular moment in the story.

It's still Power Rangers at the end of the day. The changes that were made didn't seem to work all that much better. The movie isn't setting the world on fire.

I read that the Warcraft video games were massively popular in China and Power Rangers was not. Just don't see it breaking out.

Yeah, MMORPGs are very popular in China and other parts of Asia. There's even an actual official World of Warcraft restaurant in Beijing, China.

World of Warcraft basically peaked in the US from like 2006-2010.

Yeah nobody talks about it in the U.S anymore...hence it bombing big time.

World of Warcraft is still very much a thing. But its peak was awhile ago and it has no pop culture presence at the moment. Overwatch is their biggest prestige franchise at the moment.
