The Power Rangers forum I read seemed like it was almost in another Universe.

Pacific Rim did not turn a profit. But it has the very lucky fate of belonging to a studio looking for franchises, one which looks the idea of anything that might have a foothold in China.

Lionsgate might make a sequel here if Saban is willing to deal and China is decent. Hell even if China isn't decent. But it would be against conventional wisdom like Pacific Rim.

On another note, reading some Power Rangers fan boards. Yeah, reality isn't a friend to many there. And I don't mean about a sequel, but about how well recieved the movie was and the reason for the low box office take.

Reminds me of Dragon Ball forums when Dragon Ball Evolution came out.

I might have more interest in checking out this movie if the Megazord doesn't look like crap. Besides, I'm more of a fan of the Super Sentai franchise than Power Rangers anyway.

I remember when that happened in AoU. I wanted Whedons head. I'm certain Cap will say it though in IW.

It makes the most sense for "Avengers Assemble" to happen when they're all there in Infinity War anyway.

I think it worked great as a tease so the moment will be that much sweeter when we finally hear it in IW.

I haven't seen it, so I can't agree or disagree. But the argument isn't, "well its too cheesy to say", so we can't say it at all.

Since when did Morphin Time become too cheesy? It's iconic.

And I was sad that they left out Zacks hip-hop kido. But then again, martial arts was a major part of Jasons character and they stripped him of that.

Eh I think being remembered is different than being iconic

"Morphing time" sounds like a product of when the show was made. Some saying are just products of their time.

I think it's like, in a modern movie, Superman saying "up, up, and away," or people doing the "It's a bird, it's a plane, it's Superman" and playing it straight.

Saying if "it's morphing time" is corny than Power Rangers is too corny is pretty silly.
Spider-Man to my knowledge hasn't said "Spidey Senses tingling" which I think is way more iconic than anything Power Rangers related. And we've gotten some good Spider-Man movies despite that.
Superman hasn't said "this looks like a job for Superman" and the fact that he hasn't isn't what's plaguing modern Superman portrayals.

Both of those examples are way more iconic and havent been used seriously in live-action modern context. And the fact that they haven't been said hasn't hurt anything or made things feel like less of a Superman or Spider-Man movie

Even the "Avengers Assemble" line, none of the problem with any of the Avengers movies has to do with not using that line.

Some things just sound dated, stupid, corny, or all of the above.

Yeah I agree with that to a point. If a character says it sarcastically or whatever or they acknowledge it's corny. I think it can work

But if we're talking playing it completely straight a character says it, I think it'll just come off as stupid.

If you're making a fun throwback and it's literally just a big screen version of the 90s show then yeah it can work. But for what they were trying to do/what I think they shouldve aimed for it'll be stupid if played straight

In any case it would never make or break a potential PR movie if they did or didn't use it so it's whatever.

Agreed. Like, for example I can see this new Billy saying it. I can see him getting excited and geeking out at the prospect that they have these cool powers and giddily saying "WHOO! All right, ITS MORPHIN TIME!" Something like that could work.

This movie had Rita stop to eat a donut in the middle of a battle, they could've worked in a good way for Its Morphin Time.

But either way to me it doesn't sound corny. Sounds perfectly normal the way they said it in the show/og movie


Calling out their zords? I can see that part.
