Live-Action The Little Mermaid

He has very ATJ in Angus thongs and perfect snogging vibes.

loving the look. It’s going to take a bit of getting used to having an Ursula that doesn’t sound like a pack a day smoker

All these Disney remakes are always much longer and whatever they add/change is useless, not exactly enthused about this one, Lowery's Peter Pan i am curious about though.

Peter Pan?
Isn't that the one going straight to,Disney Plus?

Yes, but David Lowery is a fantastic director, big fan of Green Knight and Ghost Story, his remake of Pete's Dragon was surprisingly good and he has said this version of Peter Pan is his favorite film he has done.

Film is apparently 2hr15. 1 hour longer than the original. Hopefully we get a good Ursula flashback.

That pretty much has to be in the back half of the movie when she's a human right? That's the only part that seemed somewhat short. God help us if they buff up the first half before the deal.

I actually want more mermaid fun in the first half and from that new promo vid they dropped it looks like we’ll get more. Then some Ursula/Triton flashbacks. So I hope they utilize that hour well.

There's plenty of mermaid story to tell.

Ursulas origin, 6 sisters, Ursulas rebellion.

Yeah, I suppose they could just add the whole Ursula thing to the start, but Ariel being involved in that and then going on to still make a deal with her would be pretty dumb. I always got the sense that Ariel wasn't too aware of what actually happened.

Wonder if they would consider spin-offs for the sisters if this does well. They each reign over their own sea so I’m sure there’s some stories that could be told. They have beautiful designs.

Ariel doesn't need to be involved in the flashback. It's fleshing out Ursula/Triton and plays into why Ariel shouldn't visit her since she doesn't know the full story

Id be surprised if they didn't just do a cutesy animated show for D+

I would take anything, I think there’s heaps you could do.

funny if the reason they announced that Moana live action movie was to do a crossover

Is it showing in theaters at all?

NGL, making some of their tops look so similar to their tails has me asking questions....

I think it's safe to say that their "tops" are part of their skin/scales and aren't removable in this version.

Tickets went on sale last night.

OK, really murky, grey and desaturated cinematography aside, Halle Bailey looks like she’s going to crush it, and Melissa McCarthy seems like she’s going to steal the show as Ursula.

Finally the HQ version. I’ve been listening to the leaked one on YT for a couple months now lol. I just love the arrangement and Halle’s voice is perfection.

Yeah they've been trying to go a little to big on "realism" with the film.

The general look, the fish, and the kingdom
