How can someone not agree with that?

Apparently there are... :csad:

I blame it on schools not teaching logic to kids...

Nobody cares. MOS already got the June record, and has massacred Batman Begins and cruising past Iron Man :wow:

When it comes to rooting for your favorite movie/or anything, the more the merrier... :woot:

I don't think many will go, 'Oh, well, we made enough, who cares if we make more'...

Losing over 1,000 theatres could just be from smaller theatres that only have 3-4 screens. The big cinemas will still have it. There won't be anymore IMAX screenings though. DM2 took that out of the equation.

Right, I'm saying it's probably the smaller theatres due to their lack of screens. ^ If they only have 3-4 screens, they won't have MOS, they'll have DM2, WWZ etc.

I think I remember reading back during SR's run the president of WB, Alan Horn, saying that if SR reached 200M domestically then SR would get a sequel. I think the sequel even got an "announced" of IMDB and even had a title (can't remember the name). Well, needless to say that that sequel never materialized so I know that there are no "sure things" in Hollywood :cmad: But, at least, WB thought SR's gross proved that there was enough interest in Superman to warrant a reboot which we did get! I also really think there is about a 95% chance MOS gets a sequel. It just made too much money and was too well received by fans not to. :woot:

Right.. .nothing in life is 100%.. SR wasn't going to go anywhere.. and I think they know it... BRandon CANNOT act... the entire story-line sucks.. plus, they didn't make their money back..

But MOS, I can GUARANTEE you will get a sequel... just pure logic... i'll bet hte farm.. (if you have one, lets bet).

1. MOS is/will be profitable
2. Judging from MOS, the world is ready for another superman.
3. MOS's numbers (after you take into consideration their terrible release date, and lack of OS marketing) shows that it has potential, easily actually, be a 1B franchise movie...

Unless, some 'act of god' happened to the entire team behind MOS, then nothing will stop the sequel from coming out... and coming out FAST it will be...

I think who ever chooses the release dates for WB movies is just dumb, I mean look at the release date for Superman Returns it had to compete with POTC 2, then look at the release dates of MOS, competition from Pixar's Monsters University and also WB's Jack The Giant Slayer it had to compete with Disney's Oz The great and Powerful ! (I saw both movies and Jack The Giant Slayer is at same level as OZ The Great and Powerful, both are kid's movies)

I cannot understand how WB continue to pick wrong release dates ?

Yeah, and the sad thing is, if they had just released MOS a week earlier, it would have had TWO straight weeks of no competition. It would have opened against that awful Purge movie. Still scratching my head over that.

Wait until you see the date WB will pick if MoS comes out in 2015. The execs are probably debating the week before Avengers 2 or the week before Star Wars 7?

The entire WB marketing team has to be fired... They totally screwed up on this one... Terrible Release Date (both domestic and international), and Terrible OS Marketing.

Deadline had a story about WB being interested in sequel
But WB has not greenlit a sequel yet .
It is likely, but there has been no official announcement at this time.

I think it's official:

Why fire the marketing team? This movie is on track for 700M +
Their job was successful, no?

It was smart the way the first MOS trailer showed the black and white footage of him walking, and it drew in the grandmothers and then the trailers got progressively more explosive until it drew teens into the most awe-inspiring film in the history of hollywood. The marketing team are the reason why it set the June/reboot record. This my favorite marketing team of all-time.

Sony's marketing better fire it up for TASM 2. Wasn't a fan of TASM's teaser.

It was the "untold story" aspect that made people literally roll their eyes.

Webb left a lot of questions unanswered. He still has 3 movies to answer them all. :cwink:

For me, the first half of the teaser was excellent but the POV looked rubbish. In IMAX 3D the 3D sections of the movie blew me away.

ASM 2 has a great release date. It has two weeks to be number one. In week four it gets a Memorial Day boost. It will make more domestic than ASM.

MOS 2 needs a release date like that.

Whatever date the sequel gets it needs two weeks to breathe not one.

Anyone still doubts that losing theaters matters little to the box office?

I hope nobody would think it doesn't matter to box office.

Nobody cares. MOS already got the June record, and has massacred Batman Begins and cruising past Iron Man :wow:

Who is nobody? It's a box office thread, theater counts are related to box office.

Notice it is theaters, not just screens. In all the theaters it is currently it it has screens. Now it is out of certain theaters.

Yep. That is how they always report the losses. Theaters.

Which is still good. SR lost the 50% of its theatres in 2 weeks.

SR lost 50% of it's theaters 4 weeks in on July 28th.

Yep. That is how they always report the losses. Theaters.
Exactly. And it has been losing screens at a quicker then usual rate since its second week. Down to one 2D screen with no 3D, at my local theater.

This will be it's final double digit weekend. It needs to capitalize on the Fourth if July weekend to maximize itself one last time.

My prediction of £600m looks like it will be accurate give or take, still has to open in a few places as well doesn't it? Japan I know is at least one of them, you're probably talking anything from £10m-£50m depending on how well the public takes to it there. Quite unpredictable the Japanese market, piracy probably kills alot of the big films over there. I'm sure Transformers would have done about £100m or so there if it wasn't for piracy.

Dollars i assume you mean? 600 million pounds is about 900 million dollars.

we believe he can make Billions, better than Ironman, Batman and Spiderman because his name is so iconic and well-known.
however, fact is ,it is just a myth.
A myth, for now .
Give it a couple of years and lets see what happens then.

John Carter
Green Lantern
Lone Ranger

All 3 movies had the worst trailers you've ever seen. I took one look at the trailer and thought 'not a chance' (with regards to my watching the movie.
I don't think WOM killed these movies I think people saw the trailers and just didn't bother to see the movie.
I have not been paying attention to the ad campaign for LR .
But, I know the other two films suffered from poor marketing.
