I feel sorry for whoever gets casted into that role. Even more for the person directing the movie. I want James Cameron to do a superhero movie so bad it's agonizing... I remember him saying once the only CBM he'd do would be Spider-Man.

Are the Brazil numbers so far pretty much in line with expectations? I was wondering how the ongoing protests might affect box office results.
I believe Kryptonian God said it seems to be on track for around $20 million in Brazil.

Hope they cast a 50/60-year-old actor to play Batman/Bruce Wayne. Just for a change. There is no reason for him to always be young in the films. Denzel Washington maybe? Anyway, too off-topic. I like Brazil, the Olympics should be really excellent.

uh......no.

if they go that route, might as well just brink back Bale as an older Batman coming out of retirement (again) to team up with the other heroes.

MOS Monday estimate is apparently 590,000.

hmmmm......that seems like a big drop off.

but I guess it's to be expected at this point.

it's reached $280m, so I'm pleased no matter what..........

That's pretty much what Liam H predicted. It could make $2.5 million or so Mon-Thurs. which is still not bad.

WB can always re-release Man of Steel like what they did with TDK.

Loss of screens is what's weakening MOS now. That's where the 58% drop came from.

I think Avengers got a big theater boost for Labor Day weekend. It went from 123 theaters to 1,705. It made 2.4 mill.

They also did a big promo push as well and wasn't there like 4 extra minutes or something?

i would definitely watch MoS on the big screen again if it had extended scenes.

4 extra minutes of Superman running around saving people and helping them evacuate!!

:funny:

You said that with the 3D boost & inflation, TDK would have grossed around Avengers money. It turns out that the Avengers sold more tickets domestically. Internationally it is not even a competition. You might be high-balling WF a little too much as well.

Umm Avatar had a 3D boost and the tickets aren't much higher today than they were when Avatar came out. A Batman/Superman movie would beat Avatar trust me.

Looks like MOS has slowed to a trickle. I vote 'relaunch'

In what world do you think a Superman/Batman team-up is going to get $2.8bil?

Avengers couldn't even break 2bil on its own (and I'm guessing the sequel might, considering Marvel hype).

Domestically it will slow down but its doing great OS so its going to reach 700m. Expect word from WB at Comic Con about the sequel

Because Superman and Batman are the two most popular comic book characters there are outside of spider man. People have been waiting and wanting a WF movie way before Marvel even thought of Avengers

After the way that Pacific Rim performed at the box office, WB should announce the MOS sequel as soon as possible. MOS might not have made TDK or Avengers money, but it kept WB from looking like the movie studio that released multiple big budget sci-fi/action bombs this summer.
