Wow I didn't realize MOS coincided with Father's Day until recently. That makes hellalot of sense since being the son of two fathers is a main theme in the movie.

Smart move with the release date, WB. Maybe that will boost the BO.

Had no idea either. Seems like a good father/son movie.

wow. no one remember Father's Day. it's poor to become a father.

Ha I knew it was coming up, just didn't put together that it would be the same weekend as MOS.

If you have read my other posts, I have always been pretty positive, but was very disappointed with the lack of promo.. and I have always thought it may go near 1 B, if not pass it despite the lack of promo.. but now, with some promo... even though a bite late, I am going to go ahead and predict a solid 1B...

Let's see who gets the last laugh...:jedi

Write it down... :woot:

No one thought a lot of things for a lot of movies... be prepared to eat your hat! haha
Lol. Didn’t u predict below 500M b4?
According to the google searching graph it isn’t doing great. :p

No, way... 500 M would be a failure to me.. I think you must have confused me with anyone else... I have always been optimistic about the box office... in fact, i don't think i have made a prediction, except for 'hopes'.. now, i am predicting...

Both Tobias and Robot have said if it makes $500 million, it's considered a failure.

I also think 500 m WW would be a failure.

600 m is decent/satisfactory
675+ m is good
750+ m is great
850+ m is a cultural phenomenon

These are all WW BO numbers for beginnings of franchises. Spider-Man is still the most successful out of the gate. Anyone who thinks MOS will blow every other movie besides Spider-Man away is naive.

Spider-Man- 821M
Iron Man- 585M
Thor- 449M
Batman (1989)- 411M
Superman Returns- 391M
Batman Begins- 374M
Captain America- 368M
Superman- 300M
Green Lantern- 219M

Of course MOS will do better than most of those.

Many of them either sucked or had B-list/C-list superheroes.

And then you have inflation which puts a few more of those in the 750-950 m range.

Pls dont give that much pressure though he is called superman.

Considering most films don't make 600mil worldwide, that kind of number is far better than decent. That would be a very good result.

People's expectations are ridiculous on this thread.

I'm judging the success based on what gets us the most Justice League related movies.

If Warner Bros barely breaks even at the box office they might shelf Flash, Wonder Woman, and other Justice League solo projects.

If they profit 100 m before MOS leaves theaters every founding member of the Justice League is guaranteed a solo franchise.

600 m sounds like alot but when the budget and marketing cost are so high it could be hard for the studio to make a nice profit before dvd/tv rights. And the studio most likely prefers to make money as soon as possible. Movies that do get more sequels, reboots, knock offs, and spin offs.

$650M W/W is the most I could see it making... Anything beyond that is a longshot.

600mil would be good for a reboot, those are just facts. If you think we aren't getting a sequel (which I am most concerned about if I like the film) if MOS makes 600mil worldwide you are living in a world of make believe.

Of course the movie was expensive and needs to make a certain amount, no one is contending with that but 600mil worldwide is a lot and would be a good result for a franchise starter. You and other fans are acting like anything under a billion (I know your list isn't saying that really but that's the feeling I get from a lot of fans) will be seen as a failure because you are letting your hype for the film get to you.

I'm sure Warners has expectations but seeing how other reboots have performed I'm sure their expectations are more realistic than 750-1bil or else no sequels or anything else. Those are fanboy expectations.

I am sure you're right... WB will be happy with 600M for this starter movie...

But it'll surprise everyone, cause it'll hit a Billion... :jedi

I just don't see this movie hitting a billion at the box office. I understand we all want to be optimistic but I think it's a tad too much. Iron Man hit that mark with his third solo appearance, so it's kind of crazy to assume Supes can do the same on his first in a new franchise. $700 million should make the studio more than happy.

From what we heard, it's got more action than The Avengers.. in fact, more action than any movie, period.. that alone will bring in at the minimum $700-$800 Worldwide... (great action movies gets a lot of WOM overseas)... and then if Zack, through some miracle manages to create a really powerful love story between Lois and Supes.. then I bet that'll bring in a few hundred million more, thus, crossing the B mark... (I don't think they'll pull off the love angle though, as Zack haven't proven to understand how to do that as far as I can see yet)... though, if the story have 'heart', like, maybe it tugs at your heartstring somehow, (even without the love story), that'll bring in more ppl..

Really? Will be great to finally see a Superman with a tonne of action if that works out. And I also don't know if Snyder can do that with Amy Adams & Henry Cavill but I think he can get those heartstring moments with Crowe's & Costner's (especially) relationships with Supes. I think that's a large part of why that trailer was so popular.

Well i just pre-ordered my tix. Just based on my theater there appears to be a lot of IMAX premiere tickets already picked up.

quite few people setting themselves up for disappointment thinking it'll cross the 1B mark .. but i'll happily stuff some humble pie down my throat if that happens .. i'm doubt it tho
