I'm feeling a little higher then ASM numbers. Not a lot of people are talking about this film even like ASM was back in June of last year (friends, family, work). But I do feel that it will interest a lot of the International Market, and thus I'm guessing landing around 800-850.

You bet. My local cinema is still having the teaser poster only. No MOS trailer at all when I was watching STID today. Its like MOS out next year. Lol.
Btw. STID is good!

I am in Singapore now....and I am seeing MOS Ads at the bus-stops.

Not bad. :woot:

OMG... I have been complaining ZERO marketing in Malaysia, and ZERO posters in theaters... and today, suddenly at a mall, they had an MOS exhibition taking up the entire middle of the mall space.. It was actually a tie in with a local bank which is trying to sign up Credit Card customers... I guess when it comes to 'loan-sharking' the banks will spare no ex-pense... they sure have a lot more marketing budget than poor ol Warner Brothers... haha... I am loving it..

Now, that I am seeing promo coming out, a bit late, but still.. I am suddently a lot more enthusiastic about the box office take..

I am now quite confident it'll break the 1 BILLION mark... how much more than 1B is left to be seen... anything below 1B would be a huge 'miracle'.. .caues it won't happen...

What are the highest June openings?

TBH I've never understood what's so bad about june anyway... What's the reason behind it being a bad month?

The kind of movies being released also has a lot to do with it. A lot of them just didn't have that kind of potential in the first place to make around $120-130+ million OW. TF2 back in 09 would definitely have made $150+ million OW if it didn't open on a Wednesday. Also if IM3 had switched release dates it still would've open just as big if not bigger than what it did a month ago.

Oh I think MOS will definitely make more on a domestic and worldwide.
TASM Domestic - $252 mil
TASM WW - $750?

its a crap shoot. i say anywhere from 600 mill to 700 mill. yeah, its that much of an unknown lol.

Ah I'll come back here when the numbers are released. :]

i hv signed up to say that people saying there's no marketing in countries like malaysia and india are flat out wrong... the first teaser was released way back with TDKR and the multiplexes and malls are flooded with MOS props and posters since early may. In malaysia they even have a marketing deal with KFC..here is a picture of the kfc mos combo in kfc malaysia's fb page http://sphotos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-frc1/263222_10151517195974247_1750677502_n.jpg

and if they are doing this in india and malaysia it is safe to assume that the same must be happening in indonesia, singapore, honk kong etc...

I challenge this... I live in KL (capital city).. and i have been to multiple cineplexes (TGV and GSCs)... there aren't a single prop anywhere to be seen...(except in Mid Valley, where they had an S simbol which is not lighted and hardly visible) and the props in malls just started a few days back.. not early May... and it was because they tied up with Maybank.. and maybank is using the props to sign people up for their 'Man of Steel credit cards'...

But till today, still not much props in most Cinemas... you can see props for almost every movie, like EPIC, MU, After Earth, etc, etc...

Anyways, I do see billboards coming up a few days ago, and props in mall (tied to Maybank), and maybe KFC also just launched the campaign... so, all's good... a little late, but good...

I am not complaining anymore..

I still don't either.

I am more optimistic now that they started to push the marketing OS... a little late, but I guess if the movie is good, it'll still get people in... and then WOM will do the rest....

I am now going to predict above 1B...

LOL. u saw some promotional stuffs in a single mall, suddenly u became super positive that it will make 1 Billion???!!! too funny.

Just because superhero movies have passed the 1B mark in the last 5 years doesn't mean every big blockbuster will hit that plateau. Any movie that's cleared the 1B mark has come off other movies. None hit that mark out of the gate.

TDk came off BB.
The Avengers came off 5 Marvel movies.
TDKR came off TDK and BB.
Iron Man 3 came off The Avengers and the first 2 Iron Man movies.

I do not think Supes will even get close to 1B. However, if it is in the league of Iron Man, or TDK... It might have a chance of exploding in the BO. At that point, you just never know. One thing is certain, if it reaches 1B, The Man of Steel will be in a league of its own for the simple fact that it did it right out of the gate unlike any other Superhero movie!

It's extremely hard for a reboot to hit 800 m let alone 1 billion.

Plus, Superman hasn't really shown that kind of dominance overseas.

Spider-man is far more popular overseas. Anything over 500 m OS for MOS would shock the industry.

That's Spider-Man's greatest advantage. If it can hit the 400M marker next movie domestically, it'll have a chance at the big 1B because the OS will carry it.

400 m domestic is really hard to get for ASM2.

That's a 140 m increase from ASM1.

Even the biggest ASM fans expect an increase only half that big.

Regardless, it's not totally out of the question. The OS could compensate it if lets say it only makes it to 300D. Then again, 700 OS is a bit heavy. Let's hope!

Anything in the range would still be considered a solid amount considering the reboot factor.

Instinct is it does around the same amount as the last time, maybe a little more ($280M), maybe a little less ($240M). Nothing to boast. Best it has going for it is opening the summer 2014 box-office.

The Amazing Spider-Man
did better business than I certainly expected, I'll admit (Pegged it at $225M tops). But it's still the lowest-grosser in the franchise (First to miss out $300M domestic), it divided the fanbase and the general public was left pretty indifferent. They didn't walk out wanting more ASAP as they did in 2002 and 2004. But at the same time, they liked it fine.

It'll make bank but it's not a big-ass sequel folks are clamoring to see, at face value.

TASM reminded me a lot of SR in that it just was a stale remake of the original. They were entertaining enough for me to enjoy the first time, but both were completely forgettable. I also feel Andrew Garfield was miscast as SM and I much preferred Tobey Maguire. IDK the whole thing just left a bad taste in my mouth and I am definitely not planning on seeing the sequel in the theater. I'll probably just check it out when it comes to Redbox. :o

"Man Of Steel" China release date has been confirmed. It will release on June 20 in IMAX 3D and normal 3D. No 2D option in China. The release date in China being so close to the US release date will help it a lot. Should do at least 50M in China, and if it is a good movie it should go till at least 80M.
