I'm still hoping for 120 opening.
650/700 total.

Man of Steel RT rating is, at present, hovering at 57/58% which is the same as the first Transformers film.

Now it just needs to perform like it in the theaters.

Pretty sure it will perform better, in both categories actually.

WB's biggest mistake, no hit summer song.

I don't see why it won't. TF had amazing action spectacle never seen before and MOS seems like it will have the same thing. Plus, never forget BB only had 63% among top critics.

I'm beginning to realize that the only people that obsess over these critical reviews are the ones who were going to see the film regardless in the first place. The casual movie going public, the ones who just go to the movies for escape, the ones who when they do spend time on the internet don't spend it checking movie scores... they don't pay attention to any of that stuff. That's the point of marketing in the first place. To get people like that into the theater.

The marketing for this movie has been amazing. It will put asses in the seats.

I forget a lot of things like... I have to go see 'This is the End' ASAP. Please, don't kill me.

I don't get to see MOS until Saturday, so I may check out This Is The End tomorrow.

I think if bias against Superman (let's be honest this is a real thing) exists and the critics do unfairly give it negative scores in some cases it will affect the box office somewhat. It may end up doing 500 instead of 600-650 million.

It's not really good but really damn funny. You have to watch it with a crowd. Honestly, I don't understand how it even exists, it's so our there.

And MoS currently sits at 57% among top critics and TF is at 69% so I don't see your point.

Yeah, it just looks like a fun big-crowd type movie. The ads have been pretty hilarious.

I think the other TF movies are lower than that and still did well for some reason.

I heard it's pretty hilarious. I am going with some people who will be seeing it for the second time  so that says something but yeah, I don't go into these type of comedies expecting them to be 'good' but at least make me LOL a dozen times :)

The obvious point being the critics more than missed the boat on Batman Begins as well while the crowd loved it then showed up in droves for the sequel. People last night were even acting like 63% among top critics is a bad thing (seriously???) when that was the same as Batman Begins! Now it's just a couple of points lower, but this seems like Batman Begins all over again. A crowd pleaser that the critics missed the first time around.

Also TF is a different point and an agreement with someone else. TF series, especially the sequels, showed that if you give them amazing action they'll show up in droves. Even after many hated TF 2 the same audience turned up for TF 3. It was the one film that wasn't hit as hard by a bad sequel as other franchises. This shows us how mainstream America thinks. Mega action equates mega bucks.

I mean, there are some side splitting laughter moments in it. And then there's some "did I just see that" kind of moments as well.

It's just...out there. That's the best way I can describe it.

Sounds good to me.

I think what's really sad here is that the possibility of a DC movie universe might not happen now.

If MoS fails in the BO, you're right 100%. A Justice League with only Batman having a successful BO history has fail written all over it of astronomical proportions. They might as well start waving everything they've got at Joss Whedon right now... You know the old saying... "If you can't beat'em..." :oldrazz:

Yeah...that's the only reason I'm concerned about RT scores and possible box office. I just really want to see a cinematic DC universe.

A DC movie universe not happening just means a DC TV universe takes place instead. Arrow is a big hit for the CW, WW show is in development and Flash is prolly next.

With the proliferation and the ubiquitousness of smartphones and with smartphone apps like Flixster and Fandango whose primary function is to show movie screening times as well as options to buy a ticket, so reviews and ratings are unavoidable. They're not for the die-hards and the internet savvy anymore. The thing about smartphones is that it already is internet in your pocket and with these, it could sway the casual viewer from watching one film for another based on that glance on his/her phone if it has a red tomato or a must-go rating.
