Isn't that $3 Million more than the midnight gross for The Avengers?

I'm going to be brutally honest, I don't care what the GA likes one way or the other, I just want enough of them to see it so that I can get a sequel. That is it. I don't even care about a 3rd film because those are hardly worth anything, I just want a sequel.
Agreed. I want a sequel. A sequel with an intro of the new bruce wayne/batman.
They dont even have to meet, or, maybe they could. Have clark interview bruce wayne or something for the DP.

I was hoping for 9mil! Now lets hope for some good word of mouth people who liked it.

THIS^ times a billion. A sequel with Lex who is the smart/charismatic Lex and (even those who didn't like the movie, say the sequel has SO much potential, including my wife who didn't like this one)

HOLY S***! FOR a movie with not movies before it that IS ONE HECK of a gross. WOW, if WOM is great Man of Steel might just gross 130M or more this weekend

Yep but that doesnt mean a 200 million dollar gross is likely .
There wont be Walmart screenings for night 2

That is....excellent.

Looks like it would have done in the 16-17 million range without the Wal Marts, wich is quite good for this film.

An opening day over 45 million, and possibly over 50 million, seems certain. It is almost assured the June opening weekend record, perhaps by a heft margin.

IF we get a sequel I want Snyder to stay but we need a new editor. And sorry but I was never in love with Goyer. He is a great idea man but he doesn't need to be handling scripts alone. Get Jonah Nolan to pen the entire sequel script with Goyer helping with the story amd structure.

HOORAY for North America! Woohoo!

U.S. and CANADA: US$ 21 million
PHILIPPINES: US$ 1.7 million (biggest opening-day ever)
TAIWAN: US$ 794,742 (biggest opening for a WB film)
KOREA: US$ 1.22 million

Is this even good news?

It seems, the midnight showing only earned $9 Million vs Avenger's $18 Million.

The other $12 Million came from Wal-Mart sales...

So, does that mean it'll only do half of Avengers numbers?

I've said it before, but i'd like to see Lex get his hands on some of the tech from the crashed kryptonian ships.
He would then go on and create most of supes rogues. Parasite, metallo, bizarro, etc, in an attempt to counter this god on earth.
( it also wouldnt hurt that Lex would get even richer from the inventions he makes from the tech )

THIS MOVIE WAS NEVER DOING AVENGERS NUMBERS!

And careful guys, these are early numbers, they could change.

If people had not gone to see it for the Wal Mart showing it would have made more or possibly less than it did. 21 million is damn good if you ask me. I think alot of people like the earlier showings opening night because of what happened in Colorado. I am not sure the 9m from midnight included IMAX. Once again MoS opens to 21m from early and midnight showings---pretty damn impressive

Apples and oranges. I think a reasonable amount of people who went to the Walmart screenings would have gone to the midnight showings in the first place. So of course this is hypothetical but my guess is that MOS would have had US$ 16-17 million had there NOT been Walmart showings.

I wonder if the Walmart Thursday viewing will cut into the Friday viewing. That's 12 million that might have paid for a Friday viewing.

So, does that mean it'll only do half of Avengers numbers?

No. Anybody who saw the Wal mart 7 PM showings would have been there on opening day.

Walmart thing is being exaggerated. Even without Wal Mart, MOS would have done at least 15 million if not 17 to 18 million in midnights, which is a very large number for this film.

Does the wal mart screening money not count to some of you? I myself saw both.
I also saw some other folks that went to the walmart screenings and the midnite showing.
fwiw, my midnite showing was even more packed than the walmart one.

Yep, and I have a sneaky suspicion they will do something along those lines. Goyer will be there writing but expect someone like Jonah to help polish it and maybe even work together on it. Synder will stay, that is for sure. Goyer will as well, but he is getting help I HOPE.

Avengers didnt do a advanced screening like MoS did so all in all it made more than Avengers opening night. People chose the advanced screening over midnight and those who didnt went to the midnight showings. I feel advanced tickets helped and you might see more studios doing it in wake of the Colorado incident

Spread the word people... If you like MOS tell all your friends to go see it. So far everyone I know that have seen it is speechless and love this movie. They are also facebooking and tweeting their people to go see. The word of mouth will help our Superman break records...

"Half of Avengers" numbers would be a huge 103/312 million take.
