Its already added.
Without it , it would only be 9 million.
I dont know. I do agree it wouldnt have been 21 mill, but alot of the same folks who saw the walmart screening would have caught the midnite show, or saw it either friday, sat, or sunday otherwise..
The numbers would have worked out to be the same, or close, once the weekend totals hit.

this is a great start, going to navy pier tonight to see the 10pm showing real IMAX!

Iron Man 2 pulled in 7.5mil in it's midnight screenings and it hit 128mil opening weekend. Make of that what you will.

^And that's coming off of such a highly regarded first film. This is coming off of SR.

I'm glad it has the 3D showings, but I hear its better in 2D.

After seeing the film I'm going to stick by my original prediction & say $600m.

I feel at the very most, it will take $700m & at the very least $500m.

Right. And without Wal-Mart 7pm showings that number probably would have been 15-18mil.

It's not doing record breaking international numbers, trust me. It will do well but we should be happy with 300mil.

Here's something no one is yet talking about. I was on the fence about when I would see this movie again. After having our brains fried at midnight, we immediately decided we're seeing it again this weekend and the sooner the better. I heard people in the row behind us talking about the same thing. I'm pretty positive that wasn't a freak occurrence. If blockbusters are eye candy, then Man of Steel is eye heroin.

I hope WB doesnt get cold feet for a sequel if it doesnt get to 700 mill total.

My wish(es) for the sequel,
get rid of the shaky cam.
different writer or at least get some help.
better editing.
an earthbound villain, parasite, metallo, etc, along with Lex.

WB doesn't have very many franchises. Nolan's Batman is gone and so is Harry Potter. If the movie makes Iron Man 1 money worldwide I'm expecting a sequel rather anyone else is or not.

^Yup. WB knows how important this is. As long as it does decent at the BO they will move forward with a sequel and I would imagine make a conscious effort to correct certain criticisms which I think are not hard to rectify.

And Iron Man 3 only made $15.6mill Thursday....

OPENING WEEKEND-
Spider-man $114.8mill
Iron Man $98.6mill
Thor $65.7mill
The Amazing Spider-man $62mill
Batman Begins $48.7mill

And Iron Man 3 only made $15.6mill Thursday....
Now, now lets keep our expectations low so we won't be disappointed. Would I love to see a 70mil (the Wal-Mart shows included) opening day? Yes but anything that gets the movie over 100mil opening weekend is fine with me.

My thoughts as well and I hope we are right.

Accurate representation of my reaction.

MOS sets a solid foundation fot superman unlike SR whi h lead to a bottleneck. The sequel... wow... the sky is the limit. There r so many things they can do. So many we have not ot seen.

Sure Spidey.

9M from midnights and 12M from the Wal-Mart showings. Those are very good numbers. It should definitely break the June record.

Like I've said WB did an excellent job at promoting this movie. While I had mixed feelings about the viewing, I've no doubt it's successful enough to lay the ground work for other things.

im sticking with my 120 ow estimate. If its more, then great.
As much as I want a sequel, imho, if wb wants that billion dollar film, then WF should be the way to go.
If not, at least have bruce wayne in the sequel. it would be a good way to introduce him to the audience. Let Clark interview wayne for the DP.

The WOM on this puppy is really strong right now. Hopefully, this bodes well for it's legs.

Pretty strong. Hopeful for 100M OW, would be amazing if it beat out Spider-man 114M (although spider-man blows it out of the water in terms of tickets sold no 3D,Imax). That would almost guarantee a sequel imho.
