I agree. Couldn't be more excited for the WOM. I took two ladies who knew jack-squat about him and left the movie texting their boyfriends in the parking lot to inform them they were going to be taking them this week.

And while SR might not have been tops, 75.8 isn't bad at all depending. There's been up years and down years. In the last five or so, it's hit 200 and it's hit 150, but it's also hit 60, and last year the best was 85. It just fluctuates. Let's just hope everyone that sees it decides to buy it for themselves and also buy someone else a copy for Christmas :yay:

A similar situation happened to me. I took my girlfriend who loves comics, but doesn't know hardly anything about Superman and she absolutely loved it even going as far as to saying it replaced Iron Man as her favorite CBM ever. WOM is without a doubt going to be very strong, it's just the legs we need to look at. :yay:

These were two sisters who don't read comics, watch cartoon flicks or even see CBM unless they get dragged there by their bf's.

They came up from out of state to take me for my birthday because they knew how excited I was to see it.

When we were on the way home, they both basically said "we were really nervous thinking we were going to have to sit through some boring, silly movie we didn't care about just for you, but that was a fantastic movie and we'll be seeing it again."

Throw in the fact they LOVED Cavill (and NEVER underestimate the power of a woman informing another woman about such things [see: hot guys in Twilight movies] when it comes to flicks)

That all adds up to some VERY excellent WOM.

Only one of them had seen Avengers (don't start Marvel/DC grouches) and she said - since she doesn't really understand the way superheroes work - "Why didn't the avengers just do that?"

For the record, she loved Avengers.

I also informed them that if the numbers hold up, it's pretty much guaranteed we'll see MOS 2 and 3, along with JL... and they - who give not a f*** about CBM - were literally overjoyed. I was concerned I had to watch my movie posters in case of thievery hahaha

MOS is doing extremely well. All the stories about the marketing budget to understand if it is profitable are quite useless: each big sh movie needs a huge marketing.

For example:

The Avengers film had a marketing budget of $220 million which was compounded with an additional $150 million for marketing from Disney.

If you add the budget of the movie (220 million) we have +500m, so according to our "experts" The Avengers should have considered a commercial flop at least during the first month after its release.
But we know that there are the sponsorships, the merchandise, the home entertainment...Infact at Disney they knew that The Avengers would have been more than profitable on the Sunday morning of its first week-end.

One of my little sisters, who hates Superman(non-comic reader) actually wants to see it because of all the actors in the movie and the visual effects and action. I'll definitely be taking her this Thursday with my cousin, who is also a non-comic reader, but huge Sci-Fi fan, to go see it.

Haha at the second post. My step-dad, who is a massive Superman fan said the same thing regarding Avengers and who loved that movie! I might take him to watch it a third time this Saturday unless he isn't working of course. Man, now I wanna see it again just talking about it haha. :awesome:

I might have been partially biased, but I didn't feel like I was being at the time:

A good friend who knew I had seen it and knows the Superman fan I am, asked how it was and I said "9/10".

She (who is of no CB or CBM ilk) said "okay, how did you like it as a movie-movie instead of any specific genre like sci-fi or action or superman" and I said "still think its 9/10"

I am sure your sister and cousins (and the people I'm taking) will all like it.

She proceeded to inform me that based on my recommendation (we've been friends for 17 years so yeah) she would be dragging her kid and bf to see it.

WOM!

I hope my sister likes it. She loves Amy Adams and Russell Crowe and usually really enjoys CBMs so it'll be interesting to here what she thinks as a non-Superman fan and comic reader.

My ladies said very similar things coming out of it. "How awesome is Russell Crowe?", "Kevin was so good", "The guy from SVU was great" etc.

The cast they put around Cavill and Adams, the two least known, is amazing.

Man of Steel opens here in Australia on the 27th, but today at the gym I looked up to one of the tv's and saw a story on the news... It was the MoS symbol, the the title "Super Success", obviously talking about the response so far (no volume) It showed footage from a bunch of trailers and when I managed to peel my eyes away from the screen, I looked around at what the other guys were doing... Many had stopped to watch and were nodding/whispering there approvals to each other.

I'm very excited for this movie. :D

adams is more well known than michael shannon and antje:o

a 4 time oscar nominee and the enchanted princess

I'm loving these stories.

I get more and more confident about 800 m WW everyday.

I loved the film and I'm confident it will do $700+ million, but I see it doing even more if its overseas opening weekend numbers match or surpass this weeks numbers.

I'm hoping for:

2015: Flash, MOS2
2016: Wonder Woman, Batman reboot
2017: Justice League, Aquaman
2018: MOS3, Flash 2, Green Lantern reboot (John Stewart)
2019: Batman 2, Wonder Woman 2, Green Arrow

etc

I think 3 movies a year is fine as long as they're 3 months apart.

MOS literally doubled TASM OW sales, TASM took in 62mill in its first 3 days compared to 125mill for Sups counting WalMart sales.

At 6 days TASM sat at 135Mil (MOS is gonna crush that number once Sundays sales are added in) and closed domestic sales at 262mill. I think MOS is pretty much a lock for 300Mil domestic and may even go well over (unless something goez horribly wrong, knock on wood! :D ).

Im so happy for everyone who worked so hard on this movie, especially Henry and Zack! :)

Just about everyone knew MOS would beat ASM domestically by a wide margin.

Worldwide will be a much closer battle.

Yea, and thats the one im looking forward too. I'd be very pleased if MOS ended at ASM numbers of 750mil to end its run.

No, she isn't. Even with her nominations, she is not that known.

Even if she is, she is not more well known than Shannon silly (insert hyperbolic comment)

Guess that address the reboot curse that was mentioned ad nauseum.

The brand has enough going for it to perform as any film should, minus and perhaps in part to, SR.

Given the way the Audience is reacting domestically(lot's of repeats), I think the os audience is probably going to embrace it. They seem far less critical in some respects.

What is happening in this world ?

How many people claim to hate Superman ?

Edit: This is something new to me, I never thought that there were so many haters.

I'd like to see that Super Max movie.

I really wanna see Green Arrow on the big screen. It's about time Olly had his due.
