doesn't MU open this week too??

that's probably going to be #1, with MOS and WWZ battling for 2nd.

Yep....I've seen it 4 times already lol.....my girlfriend said if I go see it again shes leaving me lol.....I gave her a hug and said" I promise babe no more" than I turn around like Michael Jackson did at the end of thriller lol

You should have told her, "I'm gonna miss you" lol!

Hah! My fiance' actually yelled the words to me ".... I think .... I'm jealous .... of SUPERMAN!!!!!:cmad:"

I told her for YEARS what it was going to be like and how amped I would be to set a weekend aside for multiple viewings. She came with me with the Wal-Mart premier and liked it, but I'm a madman at this point because all that build for years needs to be takin' out of my body haha. Taking full advantage of theater viewings.

LOL, that's great :woot:

Can't believe Grace Randolph is still trying to make a freaking June Opening Weekend RECORD seem like it is nothing great

Her logic is baffling. It's clearly not a split among the audience. She continues to allow predetermined biases sway her judgment. This is the woman who said she was tired of Young Justice because of it's constant stops and starts. As if that was the fault of creators. She also criticized YJ for being set in an alternate universe. You mean like EVERY successful comic book cartoon ever?
The story here, various other fansites, along with IMDb and RT is the majority found it at least enjoyable if somewhat flawed.
In the same sentence she also compared the 2D TDK and TDKR to The Avengers... Which also opened in 3D. I wonder if I just enjoy tearing apart some of her flimsy arguments...

I went Thurs night midnight without my gf to see it in IMAX, I asked her to come...She said it was too late and she was going to find it difficult to stay awake. I told her I understood, and that I call her after the move was done :woot:

Skip to Friday afternoon, I get out of work...I purchase MOS in 3-D, tell her to get over here she must see this glorious film. She does with me, afterwards I force her hand and we see it again! Back to back!!!! She loved it, only thing we debated about was if she really found Henry Cavill more attractive then me...pfft.

Skip to Sunday...I tell my mother she needs Superman in her life...I take her and my sisters to see it at 11PM, we get out at 2 AM or something. They fell in love with the Man of Steel

Skip to today...I need Superman, again.

Finally getting my second viewing in. The 7:40 IMAX is pretty much full, plus one crying baby before the movie even starts.

This is all fantastic news. Basically $200mil in 3 days WW. :D

Next week France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Russia and China all open. Chance for something really big next weekend, especially if the domestic total doesn't fall off too much. The total should be more then doubled by the end of next weekend. :)

And not to mention if its domestic in-take is in the $50-60 million range, that's not that big of a drop. And OS, those markets could do a lot of more than it did this week(essentially $500 million in 2 weeks). Not to mention the following week it opens in New Zealand and Australia.

I am a betting man....I think MOS barely squeaks out in first place over MU

MOS wins the #1 on Friday over MU, but MU wins the whole weekend. At least how I would like to see it.

I just reserved some tickets for a showing pretty late tomorrow night and there we're still a lot of tickets already purchased (although tuesdays are a discount at that chain).

Luckily, I purchased tickets for this Saturday's 3:30 a week in advanced because that showing is completely sold out haha.

A better OW than I would ever have expected. Of course I didn't know about the Thursday showings so I never factored them into my guess but I had the ceiling at about $100M for the 3-day. So, good for MoS. Considering the upcoming competition(no way it holds #1 for 2 weekends with a Pixar film coming out and WWZ next weekend), I'm betting it tops out at $300M DOM give or take $25M.

my favorite part is when she said if you take away the thursday showing(s), it does about half the opening day of the other big established franchises, never mentioning how much the thurs actively takes away from the figure itself...

I like her though.

Just got back from WWZ, it's pretty damn solid. But it's a zombie crisis movie, they have a cap unless they hit upon some sort of zeitgeist.

I see a 45 maybe for that one. Hard to say with MoS taking screens and attention.

I used to like her. Then she messed with Young Justice! :argh:

Just got back from MOS in IMAX. The place was packed and the reaction of the crowd was good. Maybe a couple of people clapped at the end of the movie, but it was hard to tell with the music blaring. On the way out I listened to the reactions of the people around me. One person said, "Solid," while his friend said, "I didn't expect it to be so good." Behind me some guy said to his friend, "Awesome." I'd say this movie is going to continue to do well. I won't say that it will continue to blow away competition with what's coming out this week, but I also wouldn't count it out for a few more surprises.

FWIW, the poster "Rth" at BoxOffice.com is saying it appears to be headed for a drop in the low 60's today, which would be great. That would give it around $13.5m for Monday. He has access to the actual data coming in and has been way more reliable than anyone else giving early box office numbers.
