^^"Princess Denise" not surprise as this movie has emotional father and son scenes. Two of the best father in comic book history. I choke up a few times in this movie... Never have I done this in any CBM. Anyway, My father loved it and I enjoy seeing this with him. I felt like a kid again with my father next to me enjoying Superman movie together.

So MoS surprised a bit with such a great hold. I hope more surprises are to come during its run.

:word:

It's a good Father's Day film with 2 important father figures for Supes. If anything I'd have liked to see even more of that.
Hoping we can get more Jonathan Flashbacks and what Kryptonian AI dont have BACKUPS?

Went to a 10:15 PM showing last night. Theatre was almost full :wow:

It's gotta have legs if it wants to make the run! It's still got a long way to go!

Does anyone have a ballpark idea of the true budget, including marketing and money from product placement? Sorry if this has been done ad nauseum, I'm just curious to know what number it'll take to turn a profit.

I keep seeing a production budget estimate of $225M, which sounds low. I figure with marketing it's gotta be close to $350M, but I don't know how the supposed $160M (or whatever the number is) from product placement worked. I'm figuring they need something like $600-650M to break even, but maybe I'm way off.

yeah, I wonder just how much damage Monster U and WWZ will do.......

I hope MOS can have a really strong 2nd week showing.

I'm glad I slightly underestimated it. I'd rather it be over than under.

Wwz is out this week right? I'm hoping that MOS takes the #1 spot one more time.

Don't read unless you've seen the film
Jonathan not dying unnecessarily for a start.

It's likely to be #2. I don't see it dropping below that. I see it performing almost like Casino Royal vs. Happy Feet. Just with less on MOS side since CR and HF came out on the same opening weekend. But, we're still looking at PG-13 action film beloved by audiences with a central trademark characters vs. a children's animated film.

@ERCboxoffice: MAN OF STEEL is the #1 movie in North America: $116,619,362 ($128,681,486 total)--the 15th best debut of all-time.

You are why Superman fans are amazing... keep it up... I'm going for my third viewing this weekend... just to awesome not to watch it on the big screen. Second viewing yesterday was even better than the first. Got to really just enjoy the movie and not worry what will happen next...

So my brother and I took today off and had a late Father's Day with our dad since we couldn't do it yesterday. Decided to do lunch and catch MOS again, decided to go before lunch so we caught the 11:30 AM show and we were shocked that the place was full at 11:30 AM on a Monday! Granted it just came out this weekend and some schools are on vacation already but it was people of all ages at a Monday showing before noon! I hope this is a good sign for this weeks numbers and the movies longevity overall.

Very good sign that WOM is what's making our beloved hero #1 at the BO... I hope it continues through this week and weekend...

This is all fantastic news. Basically $200mil in 3 days WW. :D

Next week France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Russia and China all open. Chance for something really big next weekend, especially if the domestic total doesn't fall off too much. The total should be more then doubled by the end of next weekend. :)

I thought so, read somewhere that it was 75 though.

It was funny that some people were using that guess as a sign of a bad forecast.
It was the safe lowball encase things didn't go well. So that 90-100mil would look fine.
