I think that quote from that article has been debunked. There are no plans for a 2014 MoS, and there are no plans for Justice League 2015.

They have not been debunked. WB just hasnt made an official statement yet. I doubt 2014 but 2015 for MOS 2 for sure

I think 2015 will be too crowded, especially with Avengers 2 and Star Wars VII.

those will ( most likely ) be massive juggernauts.

unless MOS 2 is released after both, I think it might get crushed.

and as for theater reaction, I got applause at the end of my showing.

I don't recall EVER hearing the audience applause before at the end of a movie, not even for TDK or TDKR. even Avengers, I don't think I heard applause.

No...some fans want a good movie because filmmakers should focus on making a good movie each time they make a comic film, not just saying "hey, we'll just make a good movie next time." Absolutely terrible mentality.

Not really. Many consider BB and TDKR just as good, if not better than TDK. All three films are considered great. And interestingly enough, Nolan took the approach of trying to make the best film he could for each movie.

Not everyone will be satisfied....but that dosen't justify making flawed films, ones that could've been great. I mean, are you serious? Are you really trying to justify getting "Amazing Spider-Man" type reboots? LOL.

Golly, if only Peter Jackson and George Lucas knew that the best way to an epic trilogy is by making a first film of questionable quality.

Golly indeed. What a lame argument. Make the first film of not the best quality but we'll get it right next time. Didn't someone by the name of Singer say the same thing.

There is absolutely no excuse for the so/so quality of MOS. It's likely going to be a drag on MOS2 and perhaps prevent it from getting the bounce other sequels have got when their fist film was really good. You never know if you'll get a sequel so why not give the first film your best. Guess I'm a hater for expecting that.

Its funny how some of the same critics that bashed MOS are giving positive reviews about White House Down. Its at 53% and dropping like it should but a few MOS bashers act like WHD is how a summer blockbusters ought to be. Lol man RT is one screwed up site

They need to take time number one and they need to avoid 2015 with Avengers2 and Star Wars. MOS2 will be totally lost in the mix.

The fact WB has seemingly clammed up on a sequel makes me think they will put it off to 2016. If they were serious about 2015 they'd have announced it by now if for no other reason than to get a decent release date. There are few now in 2015.

Sure there is: they didn't ask your opinion or consult you before writing it and then making it into a finished movie.

/me dons the flame ******ant garb... :wow:

Same here... applause after my third showing... I still don't understand the hate for this movie from some fanboy... but I guess everyone has their own taste... I just don't like it when those same folks come on here and try to debunk the success MOS is doing or saying GA doesn't like it without any prove facts... From all of the social sites and news site that allow user rating for the movie about 80+% of GA love this move, 10% mix, and 5% hate it. MOS has an A- CC score that speaks for itself. OS it's being love by GA.

Yea, but none of the scores and ratings that are positive should be counted, only anything negative. That's how it seems to work around here. :o

This reminds me of my favorite sports team only beating bad competition by 6 points and not 20. Though a win is a win, doom & gloomers always claim things should of been better!

I don't know if you know this from looking at Boxofficemojo's tracking for MOS but it is doing way better than SR wish it could have ever done in the same country it was release on... MOS is on track for huge OS BO number. I expect nothing less than close to record numbers for these country as it's doing everywhere... It might even break their opening records... we'll have to wait and see after their release weekend.

Yeah. In China MOS has 22 million and may end up close to STID's 52 million. Say it gets to 50 million. That's another 28 million. Japan had 11 million for SR and given the increase in China for MOS over SR it's possible MOS does 20 million in Japan. Add in Australia and New Zealand that could be a total of 60 million plus more. It makes me more confident in my OS prediction of 330 - 350 million. Given 270 million in the US that gets us just to 600 million or, taking the top of the range, 620 million. Cracking 600 million is key and I think it will do it. Not by a lot but it will do it.

let's hope Snyder and Goyer ARE listening to the legit criticisms and taking them constructively, so they can improve upon what they built in MOS and make a better movie in MOS 2.

It wouldn't really matter if they were listening & trying to improve. Goyer said MoS was the most effort he'd ever put into a script. He just doesn't have the skill set to get MoS to meet it's potential.

Their loss - what can I say. LOL!

It's funny that now this kind of people remember only Iron Man 3 and the Avengers to bash the MOS' box office, while one year ago every single marvel movie was used to criticize Superman. I think that I read at least 20 times that a new superman would have never done more than Captain America or Thor.

Only one year ago, in all the box office forums Star Trek 2 was considered a sure winner on MOS.
But, you know, there is always a way to bash a movie: yesterday MOS had no legs, maybe tomorrow it will have "legs, but too few too late " and the 300m mark not enough to be considered a success ;)

The 2015 summer schedule looks brutal already. After what MU and Z did to MOS I think WB will want to avoid a summer filled with high-profile sure-fire hits as 2015 is shaping up to be. But if they plan on aan MOS2 for 2016 it's not too early to select a post 4th of July weekend release date.

Never have I imagine my first experience with a BO thread be this crazy... lol... There's always someone going to come on here and doom/gloom the success of MOS or any movie... it is was it is...

the 2014 MOS story has been debunked as well as Justice League 2015.

The thing is though WB doesnt have anything big to go against the big movies in 2015.

Well please don't make MOS2 the sacrificial lamb. Kind of like they did by giving PR the July release this summer and MOS the June dregs.

Those 2015 films are going to blow away MOS2, if released then, and other films too. I expect to see more counter-scheduling that summer.

AV2 could be tops for 3 weekends. Star Wars maybe the same - two anyways. Superman does not want to be near that especially where strong, but significantly less strong, films last week derailed him.

Honestly I wouldnt be surprised if some of the blockbusters are released in the "trash"months(Jan/Feb,September etc.) to have some more breathing room.

MOS will hold it's own... it just won't make as much as it should with all the other movie releasing... Same could be said about AV and Star War... The key is to have a three week window without competition to rack in as much $$ as you can... I actually don't mine a Chrismas 2015 release... You'll have a long winter to rack in the $$. Avatar use that to it's advantage when nothing was release during the winters.

Yeah. I expect a lot of expensive films will steer clear of the AV/SW juggernaut in 2015. One reason I never thought MOS2 would be released in 2015.

WB needs a game plan and they have none. When Marvel did IM1 they had a plan in place on how they were going to proceed with Avengers. With WB they are sticking their fingers in the wind, and that never works.

The danger with taking too much stock in MoS success, will be to ignore more important elements, like how to gain interest in a rebooted Batman, that will likely be a flop, seeing that people are not ready to see another incarnation of Batman outside the diehard fan base. And other awkward characters like Aquaman and Flash. Not to mention the total blasé reaction to Green Lantern.

WB is just looking at trying to get a huge franchise like Avengers, they aren't looking at story telling aspects.

Justice League could work if done right, but not the way they are doing it now. Literally all news about Justice League has either been false, or has fallen flat on it's face like Will Beall's script.

Whats everyone prediction for domestic box office by the end of this weekend? I say $250 million

It won't be 250. 245M tops likely 240, or there about.
