The Amazing Spider-Man Marc Webb to return? - Part 1

Just out of curiosity... Anno, do you post in the Batman forum as much as here? LegendAssembles, do you post in the Avengers forum as much as here? I don't really understand why you both invest so much time and energy debating and negatively comparing ASM to your chosen franchises.

Well, I suppose it keeps the conversation going and the board alive.

And by the way, I'm not questioning your right to your criticisms at all, just wondering what compels you to continue the debate over a film you didn't care for.

Spider-Mans my favorite superhero, he's what got me into comics and stuff, I have strong feelings about it. Plus this forum has a lot of opinionated people and theres a lot of bandwagoning going on. I think a lot of other people feel the same way too, because this board is much more active than most of the other ones I post on.

its also peoples right to like/ love tasm movie. But you're obviously against that.

:whatever:

Anytime someone has a differing opinion and is not in love with a film....that sentence is always brought up.

I don't really see what's bandwagoning here, but apparently LegendAssemble can get inside the minds of people over the Internet...

From what I recall, most people here who today don't like Raimi's films that much either a) didn't do that before either, b) have over the years grown to like them less and less in a natural way like what could happen with many other movies as well, or c) started posting in these forums because of the long awaited reboot. For me, it's a combination of A and B. I liked SM1, somewhat liked SM2 and had high hopes for SM3 (because of the trailers) but ended up hating it. I've never hated Raimi's series but found it very overrated. I was very happy when Sony announced the reboot, and I ended up very happy with the result as well but I was still pretty skeptical at times due to bad promotion pics, some information such as the SWAT-Lizards etc. In no way did I join any bandwagon.

All this "bandwagoning" talk only shows you look down on other people because you can only see bandwagoning behind their legitimate opinions.

I mean, you (LegendAssembled) joined these forums this May, who are you to talk about bandwagoning? I think you're throwing out that word without reason.

Some good points, but you yourself seem to only be looking at it one way and not the other as well. There's a good deal of generalization and even hyperbole whenever anybody refers to collective thoughts, so you should take that with a grain of salt regardless, but even in this case, I've seen a fair share of forum members here who make statements such as the following "I remember enjoying the Raimi films when I was a kid, but not so much anymore because of x, y , & z. I love this new movie because it's so much more mature."

Point blank, that's both dismissing something because of its age and association with your childhood. You yourself may not have disingenuous reasons for not favoring one franchise over the other, but you can't dismiss the idea of other people doing so altogether...because it does indeed happen.

The same thing happened with Batman vs Dark Knight in 08. Everyone used to have the same stupid superficial complaints "he killed people", "he wasn't enough of a detective", "The Joker killed his parents" ect now we have "he wasn't funny enough", "he looked funny when he cried", "he had organic webshooters".

Those are all superficial comments and the idea that the movies got significantly worse over time, is completely contrived. Things haven't changed that much since 2007 when people were still looking forward to SM3. Also whats the big deal about being able to tell bandwagoning over the internet? Theres bandwagoning everywhere, it's not hard to point out. You really aren't making much of a point here.

How is that disingenuous? There are plenty of things that I loved during my childhood that I don't care for now. I, however, agree that there are people who don't like one franchise or do like one franchise over the other for silly reasons but when you grow up your taste changes. Point blank. Whether it's from education, experience, or gaining wisdom as you get older you reflect on things differently and based on an improved set of reasoning skills you make choices about what you like and don't like. There's nothing wrong with that, at all.

Yeah theres nothing wrong with that, but thats you aging, not the movie.

Wait are we talking about Webb coming back, plain arguing or things that I can't read?

Frankly, all I see is never-ending words.

Carry on.

One thing I have to point out, is how dated Peters skinny jeans are going to make this movie in 10 years. As guilty as I was of it, the mid 2000s skater look is sure to go down as the disco style of our era hahaha
I don't think the jeans are going to date this movie too much. To most people it is just a pair of jeans, not skater jeans. If anything, what will date the movie is the music used in the movie.

Really? I think the music will stand pretty well.

since most of it's just acoustic and the coldplay song is one of their lesser known ones it won't date it as bad as say prince in Batman, but you're right. It's just a theory of the future but hell do i know whats gonna be in fashion in 20 years?

True. I guess in 20 years we'll see what happens, lol :)

IDK, it really depends. Other than classical music or classic rock, a lot of music dates easily.

Those complaints about Raimi's Spider-Man were mentioned alot way before the news of a reboot.

Of course there's bandwagoning as well and Visualiza made a good point that I should take your previous comment as a generalisation but even then, you try to belittle others opinions just because you don't agree. Who are you to know it's bandwagoning? I really don't see any sign of massive bandwagoning against Raimi's films. I see some people not liking them as much as ASM and some even having a strong dislike, yes. But those opinions are as valid as some people's dislike for this film whether you like it or not. Someone says he/she doesn't like Raimi's films? Oh, that's bandwagoning now.

I'm not active in the Batman boards, but I remember even before Batman Begins that I found it a bit "untrue" to have Joker kill his parents. Though, I liked the film alot and still do, but that's also a valid point as much as people don't like Sandman being Uncle Ben's killer for example. Just accept that some people don't like what you do instead of trying to make yourself look like a higher being or something.

glad webb is back to finish his version a new director could have been a disaster

Has Webb talked about the sequel yet (now that he's signed) or does Sony have him on a short leash?

Personally, I think the villain should be revealed now before it's leaked, before someone finds elements of the script. Rid the franchise of secrecy, this production needs to be more transparent.

Look, Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2 were hugely well received films and the latter or which is still considered to be one of the better superhero films of all time. Obviously these movies were not disasters, the argument that "people were just excited to see Spider-Man on the big screen" just doesn't hold up. Theres lots of Transformers fans out there, and they're not just happy to see them on the big screen, those movies have all been received pretty negatively. Someone people are going to prefer the new film and some the old ones, but it's laughable seeing all of these people who most likely felt totally different a few years ago.

Stop talking to me like I'm a little kid, just accept that bandwagoning happens all the time and people will do anything to justify thats not what they are doing. People do it all the time with sports, politics, almost anywhere preference comes into play.

I would like to see Spidey with Reflective/Black Eyes for the sequel, I really like them compared to Yellow/White we have seen.

Gold > White

The gold gives it a very insect look which I really liked with the suit.
