It's weird because it just looks so wrong in those pictures! Was I the only person kind of reminded of Kick-Ass by this movie? (In a good way)

I only thought it looked bad in those magazine photos (where the eyes looked bright yellow). I like the suit in the posters, and that new blu-ray 3D cover of him swinging above New York City... and of course in action.

However, I'd say the Lizard looks really bad in photos, but is pretty cool in action.

Look, Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2 were hugely well received films and the latter or which is still considered to be one of the better superhero films of all time. Obviously these movies were not disasters, the argument that "people were just excited to see Spider-Man on the big screen" just doesn't hold up. Theres lots of Transformers fans out there, and they're not just happy to see them on the big screen, those movies have all been received pretty negatively. Someone people are going to prefer the new film and some the old ones, but it's laughable seeing all of these people who most likely felt totally different a few years ago.

Stop talking to me like I'm a little kid, just accept that bandwagoning happens all the time and people will do anything to justify thats not what they are doing. People do it all the time with sports, politics, almost anywhere preference comes into play.

Of course there is bandwagoning but you joined in May this year :S Sure, you could've lurked around back before the news of a reboot (like I did) but still, I haven't noticed much of bandwagoning in this case. I already said this but I'll repeat it: from what I've seen, people who only bash Raimi's films aren't THAT many (and no, I'm not one of them because I use to mention that I think Raimi had some brilliance in his films as well). In most cases of your "bandwagoning" category, people like both versions but prefer the new one and use to post what they think Webb did better.

Most of the "hating" people were either sick of Raimi's films even before the news of a reboot, or joined because of the reboot (because they too were sick of Raimi's style). Of course some people might "bandwagon" but those seem to be very few, though you make it sound as if everyone saying they prefer ASM to Raimi's trilogy are mindless people who base their opinions on nothing else but what's new.

There are people who only prefer what's new in every category as you said, but in this specific case I don't see it that much to be worth mentioning. I'm pretty sure you mean people like SpiderMarvelite for example (sorry for bringing you up in this), but he joined after the news of the reboot. Who's to say he, for example, liked Raimi's films before but just decided to jump onto the next, new thing blindly? Maybe he just didn't like the past films and just waited for something like this to happen?

Some complaints about Raimi's films I find ridiculous too. Peter cried in cases I myself and many others would cry too. Sure, he looked like a goose but those scenes weren't too many anyway. But that's not to say that it couldn't ruin the experience for some others.

From what I've read of many of your posts, you just seem to like to make yourself look more intellectual than others at the Internet by looking down on others. You do that waaay too often to not make it shine through. I must ask, do we look like ants from up there?

Has Webb talked about the sequel yet (now that he's signed) or does Sony have him on a short leash?

Personally, I think the villain should be revealed now before it's leaked, before someone finds elements of the script. Rid the franchise of secrecy, this production needs to be more transparent.

I don't think he has, and I myself am kinda surprised that he didn't give any comment like "I'm really excited to continue with this franchise". I don't doubt that he IS excited though.

They won't reveal the villain this early. It took a really long time before they revealed Lizard even though everyone knew already. I wish they'd do but that's unrealistic with Sony. They like to keep things hush hush. I don't think we'll know until shooting starts and we get some unofficial photos (because this time he won't be completely CGI I think).

I fall into this category. I liked the Raimi films quite a bit back in the day, especially SM2. But when I saw Webb's film this summer, I was like "Now this is Spidey" and loved his interpretation. Not to knock Raimi's movies, but they're a distant memory as far as I'm concerned. I'm fully invested in Webb's vision and can't wait for the ASM sequels.

I will never forget Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2. Still my favorite comic book films (as you can see on my signature). But The Amazing Spider-Man was still amazing to me, and although I don't like it nearly as much as the first two Raimi films, I think this new franchise has the potential to be so much better. It really all depends on how the sequels are handled (especially the 2nd movie). We'll see.

I'm just happy to have Spider-Man on the big screen again. After 5 years, I was getting impatient.

Webb does NOT have the perfect idea on how a teen dresses like when Gwen looks like Gwen Stacy from the comics...in the 60s-70s.

Not me, don't need even more "emo" complaints about a goth looking Gwen. Leather collar, really? I thought Emma's look in film was great.

But honestly I've had an account back in like 07-09 but I got a new one because I was so surprised by how good the Avengers was.

I just get really frustrated when people don't know as much about the process of screen writing or creative writing in general as I do. That doesn't make me smarter, it just interests me more than it does others and as a result I know more than the average person. But other than that I don't try to sound like I'm above anyone

Personally I always thought that she was a better character then the original Gwen who became a crybaby towards the end just before she was killed off.

Ultimate Gwen has a real personality compared to the original.

I'd much prefer Gwen to look as she did in TSSM, but maybe a mixture with dresses or skirts so that she'll look "sexier" than she did with wearing just a jacket and sweat pants

How do you know the average person on these boards doesn't know just as much as you do about the creative writing process? For example, I happen to have a degree in Creative Writing. What on earth are you taking about "Webb made Gwen dress in the 60's" I know heaps of girls who have different dress styles. She dressed normal for me, nothing weird.

Gwen doesn't dress like a particularly normal girl, but not a slu* or anything type of clothing. Her parents are strict that's why, she's like TSSM Geeky Gwen.

he captured the spirit of spider-man pretty well and his theme of his story which imo is more important than comic accurate webshooters. Besides it was hardly cheesy compared to what came before it.
