Marvel Comics Solicitations For January 2008

Spider-Man: Great Power doesn't get me excited at all. How many times do we have to have retellings of Peter's early Spidey years. Booooring!
.

To my knowledge, there hasnt been an in depth look at Peter's early Spidey years in between the bite, and Uncle Ben's death, so i think it could be real interesting...

Essential Captain America Vol. 4 has me excited...Essential Marvel Saga Vol. 1 doesn't. About anyone can get Marvel Saga for under 10 bucks on ebay...that's where I got my full collection for 5 bucks. I know I don't have to buy it...but, I'm a completist, and I have every issue of Essential that's come out. I just want hard to find or really expensive back issues, like with those Captain America's. I'd really like to see Marvel put out those comics from the 70's that only lasted for a few short issues, like The Cat or Black Goliath.

Me too, but the trouble with THAT is most of those titles didnt last long enough to fill a regular Essential Volume....i dunno, maybe they could get several of them combined into one book? The Cat, Black Goliath, Gunhawks....

Maybe they can call it " The Not TOO Essential Marvel 70's Characters" :woot:

I'm pretty psyched about that what if. I always was upset that they didn't make that into a bigger deal. Pete killed charlemane with one punch but then went home like it was nothing.

No, not really...that got right to Ben's death pretty quick.
You're far too even-handed, Cap. That was supposed to send you flying off into a hateful rage, like any good Spider-Man fan would when Chapter One's name is invoked. :(

In my memory, it seems like it's been revisited numerous times...maybe not to the extent it will be in this series; but, in Spidey's own magazine, he's revisited that time in his life quite a bit. I just don't need Spidey early years anymore. Just off the top of my head, Untold Tales of Spider-Man, Chapter One, and Amazing Fantasy (remember, they did some fill in issues a few years back) have tried to fill in blanks. There have been various retellings of the origin, whether it's in Spidey's regular books, like with Amazing Spider-Man 200, or with new versions, like Marvel Age and Marvel Adventures. Also, reprints of Amazing Fantasy is probably more than any other comic I own. I would bet I have over 5 copies of reprints of that issue.

They probably don't know what Thor's schedule is gonna look like by January. It's been slowing down more and more since the series started.

Hopefully they decide on a fill in for Coipel soon.

I like this one because even Spidey has a deep look of disappointment that Venom is on the cover.
