Q: In the Game Informer article that was put out recently it talked about Savage Land and said that it would function somewhat similar to the way traditional Tower Defense games work but I haven't seen anything else reference Tower Defense. The recent news from the Comic Con panel suggested that it would be another Patrol Mode. Was curious if you could shed some more light on this and whether you guys were still planning on having it related to a Tower Defense play style.

• A: At the panel I referred to it as a Patrol Zone (~10 players, enter any time) with Tower Defense elements and that's true. As we get closer, we'll give more info on the design. It's pretty awesome.

Q: With the team-up revamp there was talked about Synergies for Team-ups, is that still going to happen?

• A: Yes it is.

Q: When will Juggernaut get his nonmovement spec looked at?

• A: It's definitely on my to-do list. He has all the tools there, just a matter of adjusting.

Shacknews: Adding controller support to an MMORPG is tougher than people imagine. How was the team able to find a controller layout that they found satisfactory?
Andrew Hair, Gameplay Engineer: We experimented a lot with different layouts at first. Our primary goals were to maximize the amount of buttons that can be mapped to the controller and to mimic the mouse input on a controller while still having the controls feel responsive.
Marvel Heroes has over 35 different gameplay commands that can be mapped to the keyboard but a standard game controller only has a dozen or so buttons. We started toying around with the idea of modifier keys, which we've made the left and right trigger buttons. When you hold one of these modifier keys down it changes what action the controller face button does. For example, holding down the left modifier button and pressing X will activate the power that's slotted in your second power slot, but holding down the right modifier button and pressing X will activate the power that's slotted in your sixth power slot. This allows players to have a wide variety of gameplay actions readily available while using the controller.
Another thing we've added for controller support is a targeting lock-on system. A mouse has a high amount of fidelity so clicking a target and attacking is quite easy, but trying to navigate the cursor to follow a specific target around with an analog stick would be frustrating. With the controller a player can lock onto an enemy target so their attacks will fire toward that target without having to move the mouse cursor.

Blade daywalks into Marvel Heroes this month

Blade is Marvel Heroes‘ 52nd playable character. He’s not quite in the game, yet, though, so put away your sharp stakes and fake vampire teeth. He is available for pre-ordering, and you can see his initial costume variants on the game’s official website. One is a black leather getup that’s sorta similar to what Wesley Snipes wore in those Blade films, while the other is a Shaftastic 1970s outfit that represents the character’s original look.
As you might expect, Blade is a master martial artist and “proficient in practically every form of weaponry known to man.” His specializes in swords and teakwood daggers. Gazillion says that he’ll be available in time for Halloween.

The stylish quasi-vampire Blade joins the roster just in time for Halloween along with new costumes for Blade and Wolverine and a limited-edition Franken-Castle team-up. Gazillion is also teasing “The Infinitely Replayable Danger Room,” due out in November:

“The Danger Room is an all-new experience, built for level 60-plus players of every skill and gear level. Inside, players are able to activate and enter ‘scenarios’ – randomly generated dungeons with affixes that alter the gameplay experience. In one scenario, you might have the challenge of not being able to use a healing medkit, but in exchange, have reduced cooldowns on all of your powers. Another scenario might amplify all enemies in the scenario with a particular affix, while also populating the area with dangerous landmines. Gazillion Entertainment has announced that Blade has entered Marvel Heroes 2015 as of today, Friday, October 30th.

Considered one "of our flashier characters", Blade has special flare and vampiric powers, just the ticket for the night before Halloween.
In other Halloween happenings in MH2015, players can check out Franken-Castle, a special Team-Up and look over the Symbiote Wolverine Enhanced Costume that comes packed with new animations and voice-overs.
Lastly, November promises some cool new additions with the Infinitely Replayable Danger Room:

I’ve always been a sucker for vanity pets in MMOs. It’s not just the layer of customization and ownership pride that lugging along one of them provides but the feeling of having a loyal companion join me on my many adventures through these worlds. Plus, they’re something else to collect that can actually be used, albeit typically in limited ways. So I was overjoyed when I first started playing Marvel Heroes to discover not only that the game had a pet system but that pets actually had a purpose. Since then I’ve accumulated a half-dozen pint-sized pals and almost always had one of them out, even if Doctor Doom ended up giving Doom H.E.R.B.I.E. the stink-eye because of the pale imitation.

Over the past several months, Marvel Heroes 2015 players and community members have been asked to vote for the character they'd most like to see enter the game. With today

, the results are in and it will be Magick, voiced by Tara Strong, who will be joining the fray alongside her brother, Colossus.

Anyone who’s seen Illyana Rasputin in the comics knows that she has one of the most complex power sets of any mutant. Bringing it all to life proved challenging for the development team – but it was a challenge they met with flying colors. “As such a versatile character, we had to ensure that we were representing as many aspects of her history, combat skills, and mutation abilities as possible,” says May. “It would have been easy to focus strictly on her Soulsword and make her a pure melee fighter, but she has so much more to offer to a game of our genre. We structured the Soulsword as the core of all of her builds, but utilized her minions, teleportation discs, and sorcery to supplement and enhance her melee combat.”

Tara Strong on voicing Marvel Heroes’ Magik

Marvel Heroes’ newest playable character has a very familiar voice actress behind her. Tara Strong, who has voiced characters in many cartoons and Star Wars: The Old Republic, returned to the superhero MMO to tackle a Russian accent for Magik. She previously lent her talents to the game for Squirrel Girl and Dagger. In a new video released this week, Strong discusses what she’s learned about the character and how she tackled the role. “Magik’s voice has to be strong but not off-putting. She has to be likable,” Strong said. “She has a lot of different sides to her.”

Pretty fun. Though I don't know how much I can tell you about him. I'm not the kind of guy who looks at damage numbers, cooldown, damage negation, etc. Only thing I can tell you is that he's a walking arsenal, I totally enjoyed him, and he was easily one of my fastest lvl 60 character.

Magic looks like a lot of fun too!

Only nitpick I'd have, is that Warmachine doesn't really have a lot of missile attacks. Ironman got most of the good stuff, when it comes to that. I think Warmachine only has one proper Missile attack, and I think its a homage to the ex-wife from Ironman 2. But the damage wasn't all that great. Barely anything died any time I used it. But maybe they fixed that.

Johnny Yong Bosch will be his voice. He will have 5 stances that adjust his skills and their affixes (i.e. Tiger stance adds bleeds to all his moves). You can play him with just one stance or use more than one. They are trying not to bloat the skill bar with him. Will have Shou Lou incorporated somehow.
This will be his default costume.

They've added 60 or 70 new pieces of dialog. You will have the option to let him summon different Deadpools, such as Headpool and Deadpool the Kid. For his movement power he will ride a Vespa. Deadpool's current Ultimate, Server Lag has been moved to his signature move. His ultimate will be a random tornado made up of random projectiles such as flying concrete and missiles from other characters. The projectiles will start getting thrown out randomly at mobs.

Is he fun? I remember getting his enhanced Shuri for free and wanted to get him eventually as he's one of my faves in the books

Currently working on leveling AntMan to 60. After that unless theres a holiday sale on characters, I will try and do some of the level 60 content with some of my characters

Haven't tried Cosmic Terminals with him yet. But he's been doing a pretty good job on Red so far. Then again, I always have my Wolverine Team-Up Tag along. But he's dealing good damage and seems pretty survivable. Might have to try some One-Shots with him.

Have him focused on melee, with Fan of Knives as the only ranged, to clean up mobs. Definitely enjoyed leveling him. It's fun to sneak roll next to the enemy, surprise him with a leg sweep, then lay down a trap and then continue to claw his face off.

Thats cool. I really dont do melee characters but Ant-Man surprised me, but even with him he has a projectile power that I spam. I wish BP was more popular bc his combat style seems ripe for his own videogame. I could see something in the vein of Batman Arkham, starring him

I managed to level Ant-Man to 60 this morning. If I have time to play later on, I might use Dr. Strange or Moon Knight (my only non-60 characters), while MM is still going on

Im leaning towards Magik as the next character I will get. I still want to eventually get Nightcrawler, Gambit and/or Iceman

Tried leveling Rogue. Sadly I just don't feel it when I play her. I bought her with cash, and so far she's like one of the most disappointing characters to me. Tried to focus on her regular tree for now, because I didn't want to run around and build a tree with stolen powers. She seems to do too little damage and is a total Spirit sink.

Tried Cable after her, and I somehow build him into a mostly melee character. The Spear is fun.
