Marvel Now - Part 4

Apparently an All-New Spider-Man 2099 comic was announced at the Marvel Unlimited Plus subscribers (where they also showed GOTG footage) to be drawn by Simone Bianchi (Thanos Rising).

I don't understand why we didn't hear about this until now. The Comic Book Cast guy actually reported this yesterday but I didn't buy it because I didn't hear it from anyone else. Apparently 8 minutes of footage from Guardians of the Galaxy was also shown at that panel. I don't get why we're not getting any news from what came out that panel.

Anyway, if you read Superior Spider-Man 19 today, you know how this is possible.

Well, that's one that has a strong possibility of being picked up. I just wish Marvel would do something with the X-Men 2099. I LOVED those characters.

They should cancel one of the 50 Avengers or X-Men books and do a Tales of 2099 book instead.

It wouldn't sell worth crap.

Maybe if the Spidey 2099 book had a World of 2099 backup that included various members of the 2099 world like Doom, the X-Men, etc doing their part in a Spidey-less future.

I'm not going to get anything... though I might trade-get Silver Surfer...

:yay:

I think with most of these I will get trades only. Outside of Superior I'm not picking up much comics

huh

Have no idea what this could be.

EDIT: OHHHHHH

UPDATE: We have learned that, yes it is a new Ms. Marvel and she will debut in All New Marvel Now Point One #1. Hey… It couldn’t be the new name for Angela, could it?

From Bleeding Cool. This makes complete sense now. This explains the silhouetted figure on the All-New Marvel NOW Point 1 cover that looked like Angela to me.

Here comes the kneejerk complaining about everything. :whatever:

Here comes the kneejerk complaining about complaining about everything.

I'm not complaining, I just think its weird I figured if Angela got a new book it would be called Angela. Wonder if she'll get a redesign since a lot of people hate her current look.

My point is why go through all the trouble bringing in an established character from another company just to repackage her with moniker that already exists?

I got an idea.....let's bring in Shadowhawk and call him Moon Knight. :o

Oh and lets not forget that the character of Angela is the complete opposite of what Ms Marvel is all about.

Making someone like Finesse from Avengers Academy the new Ms Marvel would make more sense than Angela.

:down

1. You have no idea what the book will be about.

2. They want to keep the Ms. Marvel trademark in use and fit Angela into their universe. This is a vehicle to do both. They don't need to title her book Angela. Ms. Marvel is her superhero name. You don't see Carol Danvers' books called Carol Danvers. Or Iron Man's books Tony Stark. Jesus Christ. I swear 95% of comic book fans just like to find **** to whine about.

I'm not whining at all. I'm simply calling it what it is - a dumb idea and an uninspired one if it's true of course (which it sounds likely at this point).

It's a dumb idea and it won't see any of my money. No whining here, at the end of the day I express my feelings regarding this stuff with my wallet staying closed.

Thor's books are called Thor, I figured it'd be the same for her but whatever. Again I'm not complaining as others are. Its probably not a book I'll be picking up anyway.

If a Spider-man 2009 book is announced , I'm all for it. I just have to finishing reading the back issues I own.

Runaway has every right to dislike the idea, if it's true i think it's pretty dumb too

I'm really friggin tired of this:

Poster A: "eh, sounds dumb, not gunna buy it"
Poster B: "WILL ALL THE F****IN WHINERS QUIT WITH THEIR DAMN BELLYACHING!!!"

90% of the time its the people berating the "haters" who are the ones really freakin out

Whining is when you consistently go into a thread after the book is released and ***** about the concept even though you are not buying it.

If I'm not reading a book because I think it sucks, I stay out of the thread. It's the same strategy I plan on using again soon with the X-Men once Battle of the Atom ends.

It is whining and closed minded to come in and immediately call an idea stupid when you know absolutely nothing about the basis of the book or why Angela is picking up the Ms. Marvel moniker. You don't even know what Angela is in the Marvel universe. Just because they brung her in doesn't mean it's stupid for them to give the character a title named anything other than Angela. From a business standpoint, it makes perfect sense because it allows them to keep the Ms. Marvel trademark in use, situates Angela in the Marvel universe in a familiar manner, and in turn gives buyers a familiar title to gravitate to when they don't necessarily know why they should care about Angela at all.

Those are the kinds of things people don't think about when you immediately jump off and call something stupid. You're looking for reasons why it's stupid based on a kneejerk reaction of them rebranding a character they just acquired, and not thinking about WHY it makes sense and why Marvel would do it. I'd rather have them rebrand her as Ms. Marvel and give her book a chance than title it Angela and have a lot of comic fans not even giving the book a try because they have no historical attachment to the character.

Anyway, depending on the premise, I'll be picking it up. I have a feeling it will be very cosmic and relevant to what's going in the Marvel universe and everything ailing it. And also explore a new side of it, since Angela may well be an angel.

Also, I find it interesting that they didn't attach a creative team to it. This makes me think they didn't want to because it would spoil who the character was referring to...which in turn makes me think that Neil Gaiman is going to be writing this. We'll see.

whining would be "oh my god, fail, marvel's ruining the character, i'll never buy another cosmic title, etc..."

runaway said basically "meh, sounds dumb"

and the thinking is:
So we're going to take something that was a media generating publicity stunt, and rebrand it with a character name who can barely sell enough copies to hold on to one title, not to mention that she has no connection to Captain Marvel or Ms. Marvel, and not to mention that there are at least two other female characters who could adopt that name if they really want to "keep the trademark in use"? Why would an intergalactic angel take up what Marvel considers a sexist relic of a name of a different and totally random female character??

You might think that makes sense
but clearly others disagree

I will neither pick up a book called Ms.Marvel nor Angela.
