Gonna miss Dante as I doubt he's back. I'd rather have no Dante than the 2013 version though.

oh yeah. I want classic Dante back.

but why wouldn't he be back?

Why wouldn't Dante be back? And I doubt we'd ever get DmC Dante. They know that reboot failed hard.

It's been a long time since classic Dante has been in anything. I hope he is in it, just wouldn't be surprised if he's not.

And I hope Trish never takes up a slot again.

2
Charlie
Guile
Dan
Cammy
Akuma
Ryu
Ken
Dhalsim
Sakura
M. Bison
Zangief

3
Akuma
Chun li
C. Viper
Ryu
Thanks a lot for that.

Is this new game's overall character roster size expected to be comparable to 2's?

From the above I would be ok with no Charlie, Dan and Ken (although I'd rather have him for making SF only teams with Ryu and Chun Li :csad:) but would miss the rest.

we don't know the roster size.

but since it is 2vs2 now, instead of 3vs3, there's speculation that the roster size might be a bit smaller initially.

Capcom has also said they are looking to revive dormant franchises/properties. so, it's possible SF characters could take a backseat to other Capcom characters.

plus, SFV is still going on with Season 2 next year. so, I wouldn't be surprised if Capcom wants to keep the SF focus on SFV instead of stuffing Infinite with a bunch of SF characters.

If we'd go by that logic, then a number of Capcom characters wouldn't have even been in the last game. Heck, we wouldn't be getting Mega Man X, but there he is. As long as the characters have a large and loyal fan base behind them, they've got a good chance of turning up in MvC Infinite.

Hmm, both terrible for me. :woot::csad:

This is THE game where I want them to throw in the kitchen sink.

they just released UMvC3, which has classic Dante.

and didn't they just release DMC4 remaster or whatever? that also features classic Dante.

so classic Dante is still there, and I'd think they would know that new Dante wasn't that well received.

putting classic Dante ( and Vergil ) in Infinite would be a good way to keep the classic DMC characters relevant to make way for a new classic style DMC game.

That all makes sense unfortunately, and again a double FU to SF fans on other consoles who will get stuffed both ways.

here are the details they've released for the game:

I don't mind the 2v2, as that's what it started out with in X-Men vs Street Fighter.

and of course, you know there's always going to be DLC. :cwink:

on the flip side, as others have pointed out here, with the returning characters, they look to be using very similar assets and moves, so that may help them have a bigger roster if they don't have to redo every character.

hey, you're lucky Infinite is even releasing on the X1. you have to take your victories where you can.......lol.

but yeah, I can see X1 owners who have been wanting to play Street Fighter feeling disappointed if there aren't that many SF characters in this game.

they will be releasing UMvC3 digitally on the X1 in March, I believe. so there's that, too.

That's true,it's just with the rumors of the roster being smaller I just wouldn't be surprised. He could be moved to DLC.

They might take the SFV approach and release characters later and maybe have some kind of seasons. But hopefully there's plenty of content in the game from day 1.

If the roster at launch is going to be smaller than MvC3, then I think Dante is gonna be the last character to get benched. He's one of the more popular Capcom characters.

^ well, there already looks to be way more single player content in Infinite than SFV had at launch.

MVC 2 was a unique game for me and being able to create multiple themed super-teams of 3 characters was a big part of that appeal.

I don't mind if some of the characters have similar moves in this game (would matter more to me in a dedicated one franchise title).

oh, I loved playing MvC2 and I loved the 3 on 3 teams. MvC2 was the last game I played at the arcades before I stopped going to arcades and before the arcade scene died out.

but I'm just happy we're getting a new MvC game. so, I'll take the 2v2 this time around.

Now we need one of those current pop stars to sing an updated version of "I wanna take you for a ride."

Would have loved to play that at arcades!

what?? MvC2??

yeah, it was popular at the arcade I used to frequent. But fighting games were always popular at the arcade. Back in the SF II days, the lines to play the game were so long they used to install monitors on top of the cabinets so we could watch the action......lol.

But I have fond memories of the Vs series, starting with X-Men fighting game. Then the Marvel fighting game. Then when X-Men vs Street Fighter came out, I thought that was the coolest thing!! I mean, it had Gambit and Rogue in it!! :woot:

I wanted to play that game so bad on the home consoles. The PS1 version had severe limitations. So, I imported it for the Sega Saturn. That was........fun......lol.

I actually don't remember much of the 1st Marvel vs Capcom game, both in the arcade and on the home consoles.

But I do remember MvC2. and that was a lot of fun in the arcades, and then on Dreamcast and PS2.

But MvC2 was the last game I played at the arcades. I stopped going after that. About 5 or 6 years ago, I went back to that mall where I used to frequent that arcade ( it's in a different city ) and found that the arcade had closed down. The end of an era, I guess. :csad:

I can't remember if it was 1 or 2, but I played the ever-loving s*** out of MvC on Dreamcast
Like literally several straight days of non-stop bong hits and MvC back in my early teen years

but idk, I'm just praying at least a couple X-Men show up...
MvC without Wolverine just is not MvC

I played SFII to death at arcades but would have loved to play MvC2. I must have stopped going before or at least during that being out as have no memory of it there.

yeah. I miss the arcade scene.........:csad:

I'm sure a game like MvC Infinite would be a huge hit in the arcades.

but with PSN/Live, and the home consoles being so powerful enough, I guess there's no real reason for the arcades.

still, there was something social about the arcades. and special, too, when you walked in and discovered a totally brand new game you've never heard of ( like Xmen vs SF ). Back then, the internet was in it's infancy, so we didn't have sites like this or IGN or whatever to keep abreast of news.

there were these things called magazines, though........

^ it's a physical artifact that you have to read - like a book. :o

anyways, I just read the Marvel vs Capcom wiki, and I don't even remember there being a Marvel vs Street Fighter game before Marvel vs Capcom 1.

I thought X-Men vs SF was the 1st, then Marvel vs Capcom 1. but I guess I conflated Marvel vs SF and Marvel Capcom 1.
