The sprites in MvC2 were not good. That was back when Capcom was lazy and recycling sprites from games made in 1994 which looked so outdated and out of place next to newer 1999 ones. The game looked like an official Mugen release. Things are so much better now that all characters are created from the ground up for the game

Not a diss to the X-Men if the rumors of them being removed (or limited in roster) ends up being true, but it is nice to finally have a Marvel vs. Capcom game, not another X-Men and some other Marvel guys vs. Street Fighter plus Capcom guest-stars game. More Marvel and Capcom in general, please.

(Still would rather have an just all Capcom vs. Capcom game with the MvC mechanics instead...)

Definitely agree with you. It'd be nice to see some other characters in the Marvel universe who wouldnt normally get a chance to be in the game. Like Give me Elektra, Squirrel Girl and maybe even an Inhuman.

Some people want them to go back to sprites. The thing is that sprites take too long to animate and are much more expensive. Time is money, same with video games as with any other business. 3D models are the much easier and more time-efficient way to go, because once you have the model made it's all a matter of moving them in the right direction instead of having to draw every frame from scratch. This is why most fighting games nowadays use 3D models.

One of the complaints MVC3 got was it not having as many characters as MVC2(or more). The only reason MVC2 even managed to have that many characters was because they just took all of the character sprites from the previous vs games along with characters from the SFA and DS games and put them all in one.

Well MVC3 did a good job with this. Since it limited the amount of X-men and Street Fighter characters and felt more like MVC since several different corners of the MU were in as well as having more Capcom franchises being repped.

I am totally fine with this but since when we got a console fighting game from Marvel? This could have been their Injustice or Mortal Kombat 2011 fighting game. I love Capcom too but I'd rather see a full Marvel fighting game first than this one.

Not exactly a full Marvel game since half of the roster was characters made up by EA.

The graphics are fine. Ryu's model sucks, because Ryu's model has sucked for a while outside of sexy Ryu.

Wolverine and Doom are definite imo. Legacy characters, Wolverine is basically Ryu for the Marvel side, no matter what they want to do with Iron Man.

Sentinel, Magneto and Storm are possible imo. Again Legacy characters, though more likely DLC.

Deadpool is likely because of popularity.

The rest are a big question mark.

I dont get this considering that of 24 Marvel characters in UMVC3, only 7 were X-characters. The bulk were Avengers and/or related characters (not counting Wolverine who was a member at the time)

They're Marvel characters either way, there was a 6 issue tie-in series written by Greg Pak if I am not mistaken, who would go on to write World War Hulk. Not that they'll ever see the light of day again.

Still, the game was pretty good! Not great but not terrible. Solid roster too, Human Torch, Magneto, Iron Man (still years before the movie), Venom, Daredevil.

Daredevil will at the very least be DLC imo.

Thinking about things, with 2v2 now, I am thinking the roster might be a bit smaller at launch then the 36 last time. I can see anywhere between 24-32, with the idea of team ups being a factor.

You know what? That's as it should be. They were over represented before 3, and knowing sprites were reused, it makes sense. I'd like to see Cyclops return but he is probably the least likely of them all.

I would like to see Daredevil but then I realize he doesn't particularly provide a lot of opportunity in combat. How can his senses be utilized? He'd just be a martial artist.

There were 50 characters when all was said and done with UMVC3. Of those numbers, 9 were "Fox" characters.

You are the first person Ive found that loves it. Most thought it was trash. The fighting mechanics werent good at all. The best thing it had going for it were graphics at the time

The guy is all combat. He has his batons and he's already been adapted a few times in games. I dont see how he would be a challenge to pull off. How would his senses be used? They could make him a counter-heavy character that has access to parry abilities that others dont. He'd probably be harder to master but more rewarding for those that can. He's also very agile and can get in close and pull back quickly. I think he'd be cool

I hope it does. It would benefit especially from HDR, with all the flash and color.
