Marvel vs. Capcom: A Thread of Two Worlds

Watching the trailer, Ryu, Iron Man, Cap and even Morrigan look copy and pasted from UMVC3. Their movesets look like they haven't changed at all, so they could be directly lifted.

One way they had so many characters in MvC2 was how many movesets and sprites were directly lifted from past games. They seem to be doing that again here.

Unlike WB's fighters, the movesets with Capcom's dont tend to change much between games. Its the game mechanics that change which alter how they are used. I think any returning character will primarily have the same moves they had before.

True. But how they can work in those mechanics can effect the character's move sets a good deal. A few different moves and character can be very different. Suddenly a defensive character can be a character based around control, etc. Guile went from offensive, to counter based, to now being very offensive again.. Look at the new Akuma in SFV. He almost looks like a different character because a few different choice moves they change when and how he can attack.

The system here will be a big deal and will change things for sure. But they don't seem to be changing up the fighters the same way they did with SFV.

i really don't like the art style of this game. a bit disappointing on that front.

Yeah the art style makes it look kinda...plastic. But it will probably look better in the final product.

But I get why they are going with that style, I think they are really trying to get the MCU fans to buy the game. MvC3 style might turn some people off.

So when might the next roster reveals happen? I'm really happy with Morrigan's return, although I guess that was a given. I always really loved Darkstakers, so I'm hoping for more representation since we never did get another game. Also I'm sure Wolverine, Deadpool, Spider-Man and Dante are givens.

It was actually Demitri in the first game but with the second and third it was Morrigan. Since then, I think its safe to say its been her outside of the series. Morrigan is consistently used and i think the only fighter which had DS representation that she wasnt in was Capcom Fighting Jam. She was in all the Marvel vs Capom games, whereas Felicia was only in 2 and 3. She may or may not be in this one.

Yea, I wasn't expecting anything soon, just wondering when the next big gaming con/event is as I really don't follow that. All I really know is E3 which is a while away. Also I second the notion that this might be a smaller roster cause of 2v2. Wouldn't be surprised with 24 to start out.

Considering they did one for Mega Man Classic and it did well, I think we just may get this. I always loved those games, much more than the Classic series

I think its more likely to have more news at another bc SF tournament. I think the next videogame related event is GDC in late February but thats not really known for announcements and hype generation. We could also get a reveal via PS Blog post or when UMvC3 go to Steam and Xbox

Her powers are much more than going invisible. She pretty much has TK and thats how it is utilized in the books. Watch a clip of her from Marvel Ultimate Alliance or Marvel Heroes to get a good idea for how she could be implemented in a fighter. She can put up forcefields to block and redirect projectiles, throw her own invisible beams, levitate, go invisible to raise her defense. She can also pickup and slam or throw opponents or draw them closer to her. She would pretty much be like Green Lantern in creating constructs out of invisible energy. She was trained by Iron Fist so she's a competent hand to hand fighter as well

They could do it more as a counter or get away move so it's used more defensively than offensively. They should focus more on the force fields, they could lead to great setups and cool moves. They would also look very cool and unique.


@Havok83 yeah I do mean MvC No member of the FF have been in a game. Might as well change that with the fourth installment.

And she is the only member of the FF whose powers wouldn't feel similar to someone else in the games roster.

I want a TK based character. So, if Scarlet Witch doesn't make it, I'd take Invisible Woman.

however, I think Scarlet has a better chance due to her being part of the MCU and the Avengers.

Well there is Jean which they unfortunately didnt get right in the last game. Id love to see her return and they give her TK and TP based moves with the Phoenixy stuff saved for her transformation

Jean is Phoenix and the PF just enhances her mutant abilities which are TP and TK. Neither was represented well in the game. TP was nonexistent and and what they called TK was barely TK. Her attacks made her look more like a Human Torch stand in. Not to mention she doesnt teleport

it kind of feels like Captain Marvel is replacing Jean/Phoenix - what with the flaming, super saiyan hair transformation and the plasma fire type attack she does in the gameplay trailer.

The fire is simply there for the visual of Phoenix, which you see in a lot of art for the character. Though that can even be explained under the heat bit.
