What If Marvel's What If...? - General Discussion

I dont know that it was the actors fault
Stan’s lines, and a lot of the dialogue in general, was super cheesy

And while Josh Keaton did a good job, it was really jarring hearing the wrong voice when the rest were right

overall I thought the ep was ok, didnt blow me away. The action scenes were great but the animation in quieter moments felt stiff. Pacing was bad and the story felt very rushed. The writing was poor and the twists to the cap story seemed kind of odd. Like why would Peggy get a shield? Howard made that for Steve because he had shown a propensity for using shields. If anything Peggy shouldve got a high-tech vibranium pistol.

idk, trying not to overthink it, it was fun to watch, but far from essential imo, and I hope it doesnt have too large an impact on the MCU for those who choose not to watch the series

Sebastian Stan really seemed off, came across super flat. Overall I thought Atwell did a pretty good job but felt she sounded too "gung-ho" at times.

When doing voiceovers, people probably have to emphasise things even more and not just speak as they normally would. Maybe he's not experienced with that and so when you can't see him he comes across as flat.

Yeah, voice acting is a totally different beast.

I really hope this isn't also going to be a 'What would character B look like, doing everything Character A would or did do' episode.

I mean, that's like 50% of What If...? comics. But having said that, I think its gonna be more than that, given the Fury's Big Week, Ultron and Zombie episodes.

It was fun but wasn't a fan of the story. T'Challa gets abducted and brings glorified peace to the galaxy? A bit to much of a mary-sue.

Ep 1 was a solid if rushed pilot and re-telling of The First Avenger, with focus on the changes to the movie due to Peggy replacing Steve, but Ep 2 was fantastic, a mostly original story with a lot of nice and surprising changes, and Chadwick's incredible presence is still the same in animated form as it was in live-action. Always rest in peace, King.

I thought this episode was a bit over-the-top with the T’Challa worship as while I can understand the point that T’Challa would be a more effective Starlord than Peter Quill it was just a bit much that he’d be so impactful in his Starlord career enough to turn Thanos good, and why is T’Challa using the name Starlord here? Wasn’t that just a nickname Peter’s mother gave him or something? At least that’s what I recall the origin of the title being. So it makes no sense why he’s being called Starlord. That being said, it was nice to hear Chad again as T’Challa. RIP king.
