Mass Effect 2

Must be your computer.
No its not. Its been reported that ME2 on the PS3 uses the ME3 engine and it shows. The game does look slighly better on the PS3 than the PC. Both look great but the characters faces anD animations seem better on the PS3

IGN reported on the improved graphics back in Dec. I noticed it when comparing the two side by side

It's same engine updated as opposed to an entirely new engine from scratch, which would probably would make a significant jump. As it stands the difference between the platforms is minimal at best because the main platform was the xbox360 ported to the pc and then later ported to the PS3. In some cases concessions were made for the ps3 version in comparison to the xbox360 version. Practically every reason the pc version look better is due to external aspects outside of what Bioware provided. Hardware and software such as Nvidia cards being able to force ambient occlusion on the game improve shadows beyond the improvements of what the actual updated ME3 engine gives, this can be forced on pretty much any game engine.

he game does look slighly better on the PS3 than the PC.

Doesn't use V-sync, screen tearing. Runs at a lower resolution. Doesn't use anti-aliasing (for crisp edges) or higher levels of anisotropic filtering (for crisper textures). The textures are below the xbox360 in some cases, never mind the pc. The pc version also easily runs at 60fps for smooth animations (coupled with V-sync which eliminated any screen tearing). It also has lower quality post processing.

For example... pixelated crosshatched background.

Smooth, soft, clean.

But whatever, you'v made your mind up.
I'd probably give you my steam copy if I could, game bored the hell out of me.

Im going by what my eyes tell me and playing the demo and going back and forth between the two versions, yeah the PS3 does look slightly better

just got through the mission on Horizon i think it is, and that was by far the hardest fire fight ive had so far. im a little confused how Shepard's upgrades work. are concussive shot, incindiary shot, etc. different ammo types i switch to or are they one-offs i have to re-select? i kept dying cuz even though i thought i was using the appropriate ammo for shields and armors i felt like i was doing nothing.

Concussive and incendiary shot are powers that you use, and can be used again once the cooldown is over. The ammo types you only have to select once, as they'll stay active until the mission is over or you switch to another ammo type.

i think im still confused how it works. so im in a firefight and i want to use and incendiary: do i select it, and is that when the recticle zeros in on the target, it fires automatically and now im back to firing thermal clips until its ready again? also i just saw i can assign power shots to my triggers. so i set one and i want to use it: do i press L2 and the recticle comes up, it centers, but i usually dont notice anything happening. do i press again to fire? is it just happening while im pressing R1? is it automatic and i dont realize it?

it sucks that these companies arent giving us proper game manuals anymore cuz its pretty stupid they dont let you know how to play the game. its fine when that they baby step you into the gameplay mechanics the way they do nowadays, but they should always have a book to reference back to. like planet scanning. i had NO IDEA what the hell i was doing or why i was trying to do it. i just came across it cuz i couldnt figure out what to do next and eventually pieced it together.

The ammo is a passive boost to every shot you do rather than an active power. If your gun has a colored holographic image on the side of it, the ammo is active and will stay active for as long as you want it too meaning, it will stay active until you either pick a new gun (which removes ammo powers on all weapons) or you choose a new ammo.

For example, incendiary rounds are active:

and now every shot his gun fires will be doing flame damage against targets.

Now if you're not doing what you feel is enough damage against a target remember this:

Heavy Pistols are good vs. Health/Armor

Submachine Guns are good vs. Barrier/Shields

Sniper Rifles are good vs Health/Armor (though the Viper is designed to be good vs Shields/Barrier and the Widow just is strong enough that it doesn't matter)

Machine Guns are balanced in terms of damage

Disruptor Ammo is good vs Shields/Synthetic
Incendiary is good vs Armor/Health
Armor Piercing is self explanatory
Cryo and Shredder is good vs Health
Warp is good vs Barriers

so whats the white recticle that appears whenever i select concussive or disruptive shot?

You're not talking about the cooldown are you?

Ninja'd.

Just beat it the game and I decided to just go for the last mission without recruiting Samara, doing Jacob or Tali's loyalty missions or buying the med bay upgrade. Oofta that mission was a bit rough for me. I lost Jack, Tali, Garrus:csad:, and Jacob. Suffice to say the moral of the story is do all the loyalty missions and fully upgrade the Normandy.

Everyone learns that the hard way the first time.

I beat the game again, with all upgrades to the Normandy and all loyalty missions for everyone.
I chose Tali to go in the tubes, and Garrus as my second team leader (both times), Mordin lead the crew back because I had done all the loyalty missions before the Normandy was attacked, and Jack was my barrier person. Miranda was always on my team, with Kasumi in for the first half, then Tali (I was going for a girl power kinda thing, because I was playing as female Shepard).
I decided to keep the Collector Base intact, and no one died.
So to put it simply, it went perfect.

I hope keeping the base intact has some serious consequences in the third game.

Haha definitely not my first time. My first time everyone lived. I think I've played though it 3 times over the past year. I was just curious as to what would happen if I chose not to do some loyalty missions and I was too lazy to get the resources for the med bay upgrade. I've decided that this is the game that I'll chose to take with me to Mass Effect 3 because I wanna see how it differs from my friend who saved everyone and is taking that save into ME3.

Just imported my ME1 Shepard to ME2, and I have a quick question:

Since I let the Council died in ME1, the Alliance now has a foothold on the new Council. Would it have made any difference if I had let the Council lived at the end of ME1?

Right now I'm still adjusting to the new changes they implemented in ME2, like ammo type, new upgrade feature, level skills, etc. I do like the fact that you can interchange your armor parts though. However, I wish you can see the weapons' stat in the armory before you swap them on your characters.

Btw, is it possible to have more than one romance in ME2? I have to say Shepard's new assistant is really cute, but I'm just wondering if there is any possibility of starting a romance with her in addition to Miranda.

"Hi. I am Commander Shepard and this is my favorite store in the Citadel"

In that specific case, yes.

It could've been worse. You could've lost Mordin.

The Medical Bay is not a necessary upgrade to the Normandy. It's just for vanity's sake.

I came out of my first playthrough unscathed, thank you very much.

I didn't... well, not really. I only lost Miranda. I didn't the second time! Anyway... this may sound nuts, but I rebought the game on the PS3 today. I had the extra cash and like I've said time and time again...I have no real desire to go through ME1 again. Looks like ME3 will be PS3 for me.
