Mass Effect 2

I loved this game, it improved in certain aspects upon ME1 and the character interaction and dialogue were great. Looking forward to ME3, almost as much as Batman AC...

Perhaps the greatest fan-art I've ever seen by Polish artist Patryk Olejniczak:

I could easily see these hung up as cinema posters. And after seeing how incredible ME looks in photorealistic quality, now I absolutely want a movie franchise. :(

Whoa.. I seriously thought those pics were our first glimps at ME3. I was about to say "But.. my Shepard doesn't have any scars."

:p

How long did it take people to beat the 2nd game? Im 22 hours in and already its significantly longer than the first as I still have alot of missions to complete.

Doing the sidequests on each of the main planets + the loyalty missions + the DLC's it takes me roughly 40 hours to finish the game.

That's without doing any of the N7 assignments.

I think my save is hovering around 45 hours right now. That's with all the DLC.

For comparison, I think my main ME1 save is at 32 or something like that.

PS - Those "posters" are awesome.

I don't like the Miranda picture. Don't get me wrong, she looks great. But it's like the artist was channeling some different character who isn't Miranda.

While she LOOKS like Miranda... the artist seems to of been channeling Ripley going into/coming out of Cryosleep in Alien films.

Yeah, I thought the same thing when I saw it.

It made the character slightly more likable to me.

Miranda is my favorite new character in the game. I hought she was instantly likeable. I really love her backstory

I can't stand her. Though it may be mostly because the voice actress sounds like she's just reading her lines straight from the page.

Well she's supposed to be very matter-of-factly, her inflections make sense for her character.

Yeah, she's just extremely blunt and to the point. The only one I don't really like I Jacob... he's just boring. The Justicar I could also take or leave... just give me Liara anyday.

As for how long it took us, on the 360 it took me about 65 hours. I did EVERYTHING though, the only achievement I didn't have (before the DLC) was the insanity one. Right now on the PS3 I'm at 25.

You do know that Yvonne Strahovski (Chuck) is the actress who voiced Miranda, right?

Btw, I like Miranda pretty much the first time I interacted with her. She's beautiful, strong, and confident. Once I have the time to do her loyalty mission, I think I'll get to know her alot more.

I was not a fan of the fuel setup in ME 2. It wasn't bad or extremely constricting or anything, but the finite supply of money to buy the fuel made me worry about fuel consumption, effectively stifling my urge to explore. I only visited systems I knew I had to go to and would just mine all the planets right then so I would never have to go back and burn more fuel. I think they could keep the probes but do away with the fuel for ME 3.

Yeah, I'm already a bit concerned about how to save time with the fuel I have, because before this topic I was wandering around like I did in ME1, and probably consumed alot of fuel in the process. Between the fuel for Nomandy and ammo clips for weapons, I think alot of the fun factors have been taken out in ME2.

I think the problem with Mass Effect (and alot of Bioware games) is that the characters sound like they have no passion of any sort. I can understand if they don't want to make them sound over the top like a bad soap opera but they are just very boring and not worth investing time in for me. About the closest to an interesting character I came across in Mass Effect 2 was Zaeed. But he kinda has a tacked on feeling.

I'm aware. And her model is also based on the actress. Doesn't matter. I still think she's terrible.

You have officially gone insane.

Subjective. Ergo, it's not a problem with "Mass Effect (and alot of Bioware games)," but one of your numerous problems with "Mass Effect (and alot of Bioware games)."

A valid opinion. But where you see them lacking passion, I see them as being naturalistic. I've met very few people that are really animated or passionate when they're just chatting. And as Spideyfan points out, some of the characters do have their moments.

I loved both Samara and Morinth. They had one of my favorite subplots in the game, and Samara in particular struck me as a very interesting character.

RPG's have much more constant dialogue compared to other games that it's probably harder to pull off. Call Of Duty sort of has the opposite problem in my opinion, it's intensified to the point that it's numbing. I thought the Legacy of Kain of games had awesome voice work. It was more like a stage play than a dumb Hollywood movie at times.
