did they need to? We knew that like 3-4 months ago. What did people think that was saying when they saw it?

Yeah, it's weird that that needed confirming. Even in the original non-extended ending it clearly shows Shepard start breathing again.

Also, speaking of Shepard's name on the memorial wall, it is a bummer that they didn't find a way to include his/her full name. The wall looks kind of silly when everyone else has first and last name, but then it's just "Commander Shepard."

Well the very first comment on that page is "Ok, now that makes sense." So I guess they did?

Hahah yeah, especially since it really wouldn't have been that hard. I'm not sure how it technically works but since the game recognizes the name you gave Shepard it would just have to read that and spit it out lol. I guess they really wanted to stick to their artistic vision that choices don't matter in the end. HAHAH. <-- Fake laugh.

Well the plaque is an art asset right, wouldn't they need to create a plaque for every possible name combination?

I'm not sure how much of a hassle it would have been but since it was in-game I was thinking something like how your name shows up on assassination letters in Skyrim and things like that. Like, I'm sure they could have done something with the first name in e-mails and I'm surprised they didn't even bother with that either but that's an unrelated complaint hahah.

A Codex or Skyrim style letter name insert is not difficult since its just text that's generated by doc files more or less, but the plaque is actually a in-game texture.

I am pretty sure they'd need to create a different texture for every possible letter combination that you can think of.

An anime could be good, but I'm not interested in this one since it follows Freddie Prince Jarhead and it's being made by the same people who did the Dragon Age anime (which looks awful).

I mean I don't understand why they go with those guys and that art style when they've done some great animated shorts to promote games in both series.

I know that's not what they do, and its a pipe dream, but I would love a Blur produced CGI film.

Meh, even if that were the case there had to be an alternate way to get it done. No biggie though, maybe nobody knew Shepard's first name anyway lmao.

That must have been an awkward conversation when they made the plaque. ;)

So what's the status of the ME movie?

Hopefully the same place as the Halo and Gears flick.

But to answer your question, its still in pre-production I believe.

I read that article, too. I'm just so stumped as to why BioWare didn't make the ending the way it is with the EC in the first place... have they ever commented on that?

I really would like to know this too. There's no justifiable reason for Bioware to have released ME3 with its glaring Normandy plothole. It's so funny because it's sad. Or is it the other way around? :csad:

I'm gonna say they were probably rushed for time. Multiplayer had to be done and ready, they'd set a pretty hard date on the release, and this was a big game.

PLUS, they've already admitted that they made a change to the ending late in the game (among other things, removing a final battle with an Illusive Man... thing?). So I'm gonna guess that they got crunched, and they churned out what they'd hoped fans would just accept.

As much as I love BW I think they did honestly just mess up; They massively misjudged how much people wanted stuff to be left to their imagination. After 90 hrs I've no interest in guessing what happened, I don't need to know every little detail like what did Garrus do when he 45 yrs old, but I need more than universe takes one in the balls and two people talking in a field. That just wasn't acceptable and while I thought a lot of people went too far I am glad the community spoke up and Bioware in turn listened.

The EC did exactly what I wanted to, and in some cases went beyond (the LI goodbye is probably one of the best moments in the entire series, let alone the DLC). Aside from the ending finally being coherent and sensible, my Shepard got to have his victory and left behind a ME galaxy that was fundamentally better off for his actions and involvement - which is all I really wanted. I trust BW has learned some lessons from all of this and so at this point I'm rather content as far as all that goes.

In any case here's a darned good Shep/Tali vid:

I agree with both of you.

My issue: The Normandy plot hole is this huge, immediate dip in quality from the rest of the game, and it happens exactly in its closing moments. How could they be OK with letting this by? It doesn't matter if they're rushed, it's literally the main point of this game - the ending. It will always bother me that Bioware felt it was necessary to brush over that in order to get to multiplayer.

I enjoyed the EC; I felt the same as you Spidey. It's just, I don't know, it's too little too late. It shouldn't have happened this way. But whatever, it's been said countless time, I'll shut up now.

I was surprised by how different the endings were. The control ending was particularly awesome.

I'm confused as to what the Destroy ending (and Shepard's survival) is supposed to mean. I mean, is the company trying to convey that Shep made one last "renegade" decision and sacrificed the Geth (if he hadn't already) and EDI so he'd live? Because I'm pretty sure he goes into that situation fully expecting to go down with the ship...
