I beat the EC last week, but haven't had time to talk about it. I have to say... I was pleased with it. Sure the stupid kid & space magic is still there. But if you ignore that, I have to say the rest of the endings were really well done.

The added scene where you evacuate squad is fantastic. My favorites were LI Tali (she was my Shep's LI afterall) & LI Garrus. I also thought the goodbyes from Javik & Vega were pretty emotional as well. I really felt bad for Javik.

& though I still hate the stupid kid, I did like that they added new stuff with him, primarily questioning him. It was nice to know that he's just an AI instead of some mystical mumbo jumbo.

Synthesis is my least favorite ending. Sure it's the one with the least deaths, but I find it morally wrong. Changing everyone's DNA without asking? Yeah that's a bit messed up. & there's some stuff that the ending leaves that can turn up being pretty dark. I read a theory that if the Galaxy was to ever run into a foreign galaxy & it's inhabitants, they might start war because the foreigners aren't synthesized.

I'm not a big fan of Control either. But I think it's perfect for Renegade Shepards. The implications that come from the ending & even the music just don't fit with anything besides a Renegade Shepard. & if a Paragon one decided to pick it... I get the feeling that they'll eventually be corrupted.

Destroy is what I picked & it's my favorite. Hell, it's the only one I'll ever pick unless I decide to do a Renegade playthrough. It's what my Shepard set out to do since he ever found out about the Reapers. It's what everyone's been telling him to do... even the Geth & EDI. It sucks that I had to kill a friend & an entire race to accomplish my goal. But it had to be done, they even said that they'd sacrifice themselves to kill the Reapers. I'm also assuming this will be the canon ending since it's the only one where Shepard lives & I foresee EA wanting a ME4 with Shepard somewhere down the road (perhaps after a couple spin-offs).

The endings are still not perfect, they're not what I wanted. But it's a million times better than what we originally got & they give some closure to the series. The EC has moved my rating of ME3 from an 8/10 to a 9/10.

I think Shepard should also be able to come back if you chose the control ending. He could just create a Synthesized body, upload his program and be all like...

TBH I wouldn't be surprised if Control ends up being the canon ending and the future villain of the franchise is a corrupt Shepard. :o

Cool.

No spoilers, but from what I've read elsewhere, this DLC possibly has an aquatic theme and might add even more dialogue to the end of the game.

Looking forward to both those DLC's

[YT]HF8EHeRjeSo[/YT] here's the Leviathan voice actor mentioned in the article, he's the older man with white hair.

The idea of the Shepard AI going corrupt is a fallacy. Remember, the new intellect is not organic and therefore is not susceptible to the same weaknesses and temptations that a human being might be vulnerable to over the passage of time; its an AI with Shepard's thoughts, memories and personality - you've essentially created a Shepard equivalent to EDI, except it comes pre-installed with all of his judgment and moral values already in place. On that basis, it won't grow bored, or feel temptation or other such emotions: its morality and purpose will remain constant and fundamental parts of its being. Assuming your Shepard is Paragon its always going to take the moral road, it will always do what it can to protect the innocent, avoid violence and generally just be helpful.

Even in the Renegade ending, the AI doesn't go corrupt - it is corrupt from the start because its creator is corrupt. With Control you essentially get back what you give in.

As for the idea of a canon ending in general, I don't think there's going to be a post ME3 game - there are too many variables to consider and not just in terms of what final choice you made but whether or not the Geth/Quarians or Krogan are still even alive. Besides DA2 showed they are not willing to canonize game events, and there was comments from BW indicating more ME would be set within the existing time frames - in any case I'm much more interested in the Yahg for example at this juncture than more Reapers.

so is that dlc gonna take place after the end of ME3? or like somewhere in the middle?

It'll probably unlock after you get off the Citadel, like Javik's.

No, when you finish ME3 the game makes an automatic save right before you attacked Cerberus HQ so you could just use that.

Oh ok cool. I couldn't remember as i only played through ME3 once. I just started another play through last night

I know there will be a Earth mp trailer, but I am hoping that they're far enough in development that they'll have a Leviathan trailer. Even a small one.

I read some of the Leviathan spoilers, so fair warning in my spoiler tag below:
It sounds like a cool DLC with Leviathan being a rogue Reaper, and the possibility of getting him/it as a war asset at the end is cool, too.

BUT...none of it means squat if you can't see it in action, IMO. Because of the way the ending is set up, the Leviathan will just be another number in your assets, which is stupidly lame. It'd be like downloading Zaeed's DLC and then not being able to use/see Zaeed for the rest of the game after his loyalty mission. What's the point?

They can definitely insert some more big cgi shots of it tearing **** up during the big battle, there's no music playing during the clash for them to rescore, so it should be a pretty simple matter to create some Leviathan in action sequences.

I think
point is to start a whole new play through all over again and with another shep of your making
that their idea of more replay value. and those fans who like to be obsessing on story besed Dlc wouldn't wantany other way.

yea, war asset = s*** if you can't see it... Kind of like the Rachni.

They didn't even bother to do that with EC so I doubt they'll do it here.

They had already maxed out all of their available space when the EC was finished, which included 2 new low EMS sequences in addition to all of the ending stuff, I think they prioritized their space/work correctly in that case.

Besides, we know they've prepared inserts to the Catalyst dialogue so they're already looking at how to add Leviathan content towards the endgame.

I feel confident making the prediction that there will be Leviathan sequences during the space battle.

I've just started playing this game recently. Mass effect 2 was one of my all time fav.

Anyway...i've been avoiding this thread since obviously everyone has already finished it, and i don't wanna know about the 'infamous endings'

Anyhow... i'm nearing the end now. and got a few questions.

1. Does the extended cut DLC kinda 'fixed' the infamous endings? spoilers free answer please!

2. Anyone here play this game on the PC?

It doesn't 'fix' them... but it makes them 10x better... but I personally am still disappointed.

Most will agree that the new endings are better, by how much depends on who in the thread you ask. I will say that regardless what was causing the real RAGE at game launch as been corrected, the issues with it are more subjective now.

Personally I really liked the EC, and so did some others in here. Others less so - its hard to gauge what somebody else's response will be, especially somebody who didn't experience the original ending.
