Of course it's intentional. I would say if that story about him writing the original ending and putting that in the game without the other writers' consent is true, then he's probably been reprimanded pretty hard since he would ultimately be the cause of all the grief we've given them.

They should make a DLC where Hudson is the final boss. :ninja:

Killing him would feel even better than killing Barakapool in the Wolverine game.

So...no sign of any more SP DLC?
we had news on leviathan not so long ago which upset spidey put up. And that's single player. @ page 23. This is what i mean that people don't look back.

I stuck with Miranda.

Dat ass....

But seriously they really f-ed over the ME2 LIs. You know it's bad when I'd rather have Miranda die in my playthrough just so she actually contributes something meaningful to the story.

The writers really dropped the ball here. They even admitted that they'd originally planned for your LI to be present from ME1 to ME3... but that ultimately got changed... which led to a lot of folks choosing a new LI in ME2 and ultimately feeling more connected to that LI (since ME2 was just that awesome).

I still feel that Liara was the "canon" LI of the series (and she did fit Shepard quite well, regardless of how you played). That said, I was a Miranda guy, and she fit "my" Shepard perfectly.

I see Ashley as the "canon," LI because she has no role in the story outside of being it. Liara and Garrus are Shepard's nearest and dearest friends. Their roles in the story and relationship with Shepard fits even when they aren't his LI. Ashley really doesn't. It is all she has going for her. Liara on the other hand, that final scene between Shep and Liara where she gives him his "gift," doesn't seem so much romantic to me as it does two very close friends sharing something special. Tali I see as Shepard's little sister.

lol I agree with almost every thing you said minus the last part cause i know how dangerous the last part might be debate wise. Other then that I still agree with the rest.

I think Liara is the "canon" LI because of how well done it is. It's definitely the one Bioware put the most time into in ME3. If they were to make a ME movie about Shepard, she'd definitely be the LI.

Though, I think the Tali one is better. But I'm biased since I'm a Talimancer & she's my second favorite girl character out of anything. :D

So i've finally finished the game, and man...what an experience! It's been a couple of days, but i still can't get it out of my head.

Forget about the last 10 minutes, the 30-plus hours leading up to it was just amazing!

i can still hear the sad soundtrack that plays at the last 5 minutes...still remember Thane last prayer words for words...still remember the last conversation between Garrus and Shepards as they said their final good-byes...

The game could've ended right then and there with my Shepards said her last farewell to all of her friends one by one and i would've felt that i've gotten my moneys worth. They could've shown the final battle in a slide show and i wouldn't mind.Already got my closure for playing this game and spending times with these character for years.

It's amazing that with a game this big, with lotsa HUGE battles, and the things i remember the most are the quieter moments.

9/10

I would explain why it's a 9 instead of 10...but right now i'm still too caught up in what the game's done right instead of wrong. Will probably get into it later.

I agree, despite flawed ending (which is less flawed now), ME3 is still one of the best games I've ever played. There's a good chance it could be my GOTY, but AC3 is also looking pretty great.

Honestly, if it weren't for the underwhelming final two hours (everything after saying goodbye to your squadmates), ME3 would be one of the best games of all time in my eyes. Hell, even if the final mission were more than just your standard run and gun level, it would be one of the best games ever in my eyes. But the last two hours really take it down a peg in my eyes. 8/10 probably. ME2 remains the best of the series.

Best game of all time material is a little much in my opinion. While it's a really good game overall, I feel like the overwhelming terribleness of the ending has blinded people to the other problems the game has.

See, I saw Ashley's appearance as just the opposite, for the exact same reasons. I felt like they were making ME1 and said "hey, we need a generic female human love interest," and Ashley was born. She had (largely) the least interesting story of any of the ME1 characters, and wasn't even presented with much of one in ME3 short of "well, we'd better bring that generic human female love interest back." Which is why I just can't see her as the "canon" LI. She's just... there.

I tend to think Liara is the canon LI. She's basically the most important character in your squad besides Shepard.

  • She's a squadmate in ME1.
  • She's a LI in ME1.
  • Her mother is a central figure in the plot of the ME1.
  • She's shown to have a closer, better understanding of Shep due to that Asari mind meld thing.
  • She went out of her way to rescue Shepard's dead body.
  • She's a LI in ME2
  • She has an entire DLC devoted to her.
  • In said DLC, she's shown to care about Shepard a great deal.
  • Also in Shadow Broker, she becomes one of the most important people people in the galaxy.
  • She's a squaddie in ME3.
  • She's a LI in ME3
  • She goes out of her way to make that hologram thing about Shepard.
  • She's one of the very few characters that can't die.
  • She features heavily in the extended ending DLC for ME3.
  • etc.

Mass Effect 3 single-player DLC to focus on Shepard

27

So, what's next for Mass Effect? Producer Mike Gamble showed off one picture of future Mass Effect 3 content in his panel at Comic-Con, and from what he told Joystiq it seems to point to more single-player DLC. "We want to do single-player DLC," he said. "We want to do single-player, maybe more multiplayer if people still play it."

That single-player DLC, whatever it is, will still be about Shepard, not someone else in the universe. "Mass Effect 3 is Shepard's story," said Gamble, "so the single-player DLC for Mass Effect 3 will probably focus around Shepard."

The Earth DLC pack for Mass Effect 3 will be the fifth update to the game since launch, following three other multiplayer updates, and the Extended Cut update that fans begged for. Mike Gamble and his team have learned a lot over the course of these updates, but he told us there were quite a few things that surprised them about the reception to Mass Effect 3 multiplayer.

"We see people who have everything unlocked all the way up to level 20 on everything, plus all the mods, plus all of the gear, everything," said Gamble. "It takes a lot of time, a lot of time to get that stuff, like hundreds and hundreds of hours of play to usually get up to that level. And some of these people had done it in the first month to two months."

Gamble was also been surprised by the response to the Vorcha class, playable for the first time in the Rebellion Pack DLC. "I expected people to shy away from the Vorcha because they're Vorcha, but everyone seems to love to play with them."

Ithink the news I put up is connected to leviathan that upset spidey put up sometime ago

They are still being stingy on the release date. when they do tell the date, I or one of the others will put it up.

For me, it's the last 10 minutes. And just to clarify, i'm NOT that dissapointed by it like most, it's just somewhat of a letdown.

I don't really mind the 'run and gun' bit as you put it. I like it because, different than the rest of the battles, there's a sense of urgency, but it's not because of game mechanics, such as a timer, or 'you gotta hurry otherwise this person/station blows up'...but because of the story. Shepard just said his/her final goodbyes to all his/her friends, and you know that this is going to his/ her last stand, or as Shpard told Liara...this is it!.It adds something to that last run that no game mechanics ever could in my opinion.

@ Soapy.

yeah..there are other problems with this game, but the good things far outweight the bad things IMO.

That said, there are two things that bothered me about the games.

1. The quest system. It really annoys me that you can't really track how far along you are on any given quest. The quest journal remains static. And when the game gives this much quests, with A LOT of areas to cover, it

becomes problematic.

2. The ending

Now, just to clarify, i've got the extended cut,and i'm fine with it..mostly. Got good closure with all the characters before the final mission, BUT at the risk of sounding like an entitled gamer, i want more!

Now, i'm fine with how Shepard story ended. Ignoring all the little details, it's good enough ending for the Shepard saga IMO.What i want is real closure about all the OTHER important characters in these games that we've known and care about for years.Shepard story ended, but what about Garrus, Liara,Tali and all the rest. We've grown to care about these characters in all these years and would love to know what happened to them..Hell, what about Aria in the citadel?

I'm not asking for a new cut-scenes, hell...i'm not even asking for a slide show with voice overs.they could've done it like FO;NV..just a picture and a brief descriptions. I would've love that. These characters are just as important as Shepard IMO.

Anyway, i'm sure they'll adress this in the comics or novels, but it would be nice to have it in the game as well.

I pretty much agree. Admittedly, aside from being "hawt" I've always felt that Ash is a horribly annoying character. She constantly whines, constantly doubts Shepard and contradicts/fights his decisions, she's a space racist, and I could go on.

In ME3 the scene where Ash is trying to protect Udina I wanted to just shoot them both because she was so annoying.

Heh...this is exactly why i like the character. While everyone treats Shepard like a messiah, she's the one that actually doubts Shepard.

it balances the story, in my opinion. It helps to show that Shepard is human, not a 30-something god of war.
