It is? Huh, always though humans have been around longer.

The beginning of Mass Effect is awesome. I wish we'd seen more of that
Nihlus guy. I was thinking he was going to be one of the main characters.
:csad:

Edit: Spoiler just in case

Ha, well I wanted him to be the main alien hero alongside Shepherd. I guess Garrus fills a roughly equivalent role but it was cool how far ahead he was off the other guys. And Saren does a bang up job as main villain. The top Turians are just awesome.

Yeah that's always been my one issue with fundamental ME lore, I don't buy humanity could become such a major player in such a short span. If it had been 60 instead of 30, I could have bought it.

Fully agree. I grabbed the Art of Mass Effect book recently and there was a blurb in there about Turians that do not have facepaint are considered untrustworthy as their allegiances are not "declared." Saren obviously fits that bill, but the book pointed out that the captain of the Purgatory (who betrays you) also does not have any facepaint and all the other Turians there wear helmets. A nice touch.

Ah wow that is interesting. They just got that bit cooler.

Also I didn't even know they did an "Art of" book for Mass Effect. I have a lot of the equivalents for various films so would be very interested in the MAss Effect version. Would be a few other games I'd like to see this for also.

I actually would love a ME encyclopedia similar to the one Halo has.

I believe I once owned the ME1 art book and sold it. Kinda regret it now

If it wasn't for ME's choices altering the future system, I'd love a game where you play one of the first human's to step foot amongst the other races. When humans know little about everyone else, and everyone else treats humans like a child. Maybe being sent out to protect, and expand humanities interest, while balancing an early delicate galactic diplomacy. Rather than saving the universe. It'd be fun to see the early days of things like Batarians starting angst towards humans.

The blitz would be awesome to see but humans had only been around for 30 years so what you see as Shepard is essentially what you're saying here.

lol, same.

I thought he was the guy on the box art, so when he got shot it genuinely surprised me.

Nihilus seemed shady from the very beginning to me. I didnt trust him and figured he'd fill the role that Sareen eventually filled. It was why I was shocked when I was wrong but I loved that I was. Made for the first of many great twists

I love these comprehensive guides to all the great worlds created in the best films & games. Started collecting them since earlier Final Fantasy games & the ones for comic series. My favourite part is usually the bestiary.

The only prob is I want the one I have to always be up to date but I can't really justify buying every single version for small updates.

I wish more companies would release digital ones. I loved the one Konami put out for MGS

It's actually almost a bit stressful when you get towards the end of the game and running out of sidequests and it's still not unlocking. I had a lot of trouble with Wrex for some reason.

Strange. I recently did my Tech character playthrough while doing the Ashley/Liara achievements, I got both of them before I even got to Virmire. I just need to get to level 60, beat the majority with Wrex & beat the game on Hardcore/Insanity. The Wrex achievement shouldn't be too hard since he's the best character in ME1. :woot:

I bought the Art of the Mass Effect Universe book about 2-3 months back and it has a pretty lengthy ME1 section but I couldn't be sure if it was the entire ME1 art book in there.

I'm probably going to go and pick up that big ME comic omnibus that is coming out next year just to satisfy my inner collector even though I think only Invasion and Redemption to a lesser extent are any good.

I got in as much ME as I could before vacation ended yesterday. I completed all the side quests I could, and finished the VI quest on Luna, and met Liara's mom. Virmire, and Feros (I think, or the other Novera, probably mispelled) are next.

Early on I was wondering how I would earn enough for those 20k weapons. Now I'm over 2 mil, finding far better weapons than what I can buy. Once I got used to the combat, I started to enjoy it a lot more. At first sniping was a pain with the gun wobbling like crazy, making every fight more difficult. Now it's getting easy since I'm leveled up, and in high level, upgraded gear.

One last random thing, it surprised me how many easter eggs, and hints towards other series the ME universe has. After I ran into a Star Trek reference the other day, I looked up an easter egg list. I remember a few you guys mentioned. Like the Quarian's being like the Battle Star Galactica fleet, but some had me face palming for not recognizing the references I overlooked in 2 & 3. Now I want to find the "Shifty looking cow" in ME 1 .

I finally purchased the Leviathan and Omega DLC's so now i can commence with finishing my 2nd playthrough to check out the updated endings. I thought the Leviathan dlc was awesome so im hoping ill enjoy Omega as much

Well the weird thing was I knew I'd done more missions with Wrex than some other characters who had already got the achievement and 10 or so missions later, still no Wrex ally achievement and almost no missions of any kind left in the game to do. Frustrating as you get worried it's some kind of glitch and might not even be possible with further playthroughs. But all's well that ends well.

ME2 was the only one that gave me no trouble with glitchy achievements but then Insanity was really hard (compared to the other Mass Effects) to make up for it.

I'll probably sit down and watch it late some night with some friends... and alcohol. >_>
