Mass Effect 3

Hi Everyone.

We want to thank you all for making Operation Goliath so successful. We had almost 3 million Brutes killed and many fans making it all the way to extraction at the end of the Silver challenge. Your awarded Victory packs for killing Brutes and Commendation packs for those who reached extraction on Silver (or better) will be on the way to you soon. We had underestimated how many of you would be successful in this challenge, so it will take a little longer to get the Commendation Packs to you. They will start to be activated at 5pm PST and will have all been activated by 9pm PST.

To get your rewards, you will need to restart Mass Effect 3 and then re-enter multiplayer. Once you have, visit the store and get your free pack or packs.

It will look like this (if you have both awards):

Congratulations to all who succeeded through Operation Goliath.

My only real complaint about the end is that it ended. :csad:

I dunno, I was under the assumption that everyone, except for Joker and Chakawas, were in London.

The ending can work for a lot of people. Mine (control) made perfect sense for my Shepard. I see the Normandy scene as: [blackout]Shepard's dying wish rather than reality[/blackout]. But at the same time I can see how none of the endings also worked for some people's Shepard.

Just finished the Geth/Quarian war again. Such a great level, from the opening with Tali planning her house to the dying Reaper and Shepard conversing and finally Legion sacrificing himself.

Whoever wrote that deserves a gold star.

I'm glad the ending worked for you
Actually, The ending to me was fine and reflects the situation.
The reapers may have been beaten, destroyed or whatever, but the galaxy is still in chaos. The only way to enter rapid transit between systems is gone. The Normandy and her crew are stranded on a planet for god-knows how long. Casualties are in the billions, with no clear way to identify who is KIA or just MIA on Earth. After every major war, people are never heard from again, their fate left unknown to their friends and loved ones. I think not knowing the fate of some friends is fine.

OMGZ you gave into the indoctrination!!!! :woot:

Couldn't resist.

That said, if the ending would have provided a little more closure for the rest of the universe and my companions, I'd of been totally happy with my ending (Shep blowing the Reapers to hell and ... maybe?... surviving).

I just finished the game. I got over my disappointment at the ending months ago, but still...SMH.

I chose synthesis by the way. What did you guys choose and why?

Edit: Extra head shaking at that "we know the trilogy is over but please buy our DLC!" ad after the credits. Sheesh. :whatever:

I chose Control mainly because I wasn't sure I was okay with the idea of merging everyone against their will. Though it is the safest way to ensure the Reapers don't return without sacrificing the Geth/EDI.

Also that the Citadel survives in Control and theoretically the conduit to Iilos might still be working gives me hope that the galaxy can recover quicker.

Destroy.

The mission from the get-go was to destroy the Reapers... and it was the only ending that made it clear that they'd never be able to return. Sorry, Geth.

I chose destroy, because controlling the Reapers didn't mean that they can't rebel like the Geth or Cylons and come back. Didn't pick synthesis because my Shepard wouldn't chose that.
OH! And I don't see why destroying synthetics would kill EDI? Maybe her Dr. Eva body, but her real body is the Normandy.

Also, holy ****! [BLACKOUT]How many millions or even billions of people did Shepard murder at the end there? We already know from Arrival that one of those things blowing up destroys an entire solar system.[/BLACKOUT]

We've talked about this but I think the implication is that the Crucible used up the relay's energy in spreading its signal/effect.

In Mac Walter's notes the ending is referred to as Brave New World and the tone is obviously not apocalyptic. Also, there is still a star field and the galaxy looks more or less okay in that future scene at the end.

Granted being clear would have lessened the confusion over the matter... But I think its supposed to be conveyed that you didn't just kill everyone.

EDI has Reaper tech.

Oh, forgot about that. :csad: I don't feel that bad about sacrificing [BLACKOUT]The Geth[/BLACKOUT]. It just means that the [BLACKOUT]Quarians[/BLACKOUT] can live in peace without fear of another rebellion.

Do you see her even if she's not a paramour?

This might sound crazy...but, I want to avoid seeing her until I'm on my other playthrough, where she's my romantic option.

Don't know why. Just seems like it's only right that the Shepard's romancing her be the ones that see her.

Don't get your hopes up because
you only get to see a picture of her. She's super hot, but there is no huge reveal.

On another note, I just beat the game.
I understand why people are upset from a purely emotional level, but to claim bioware has done some injustice to gamers the world over because Shepard and nearly every one dies is just ridiculous. Do moviegoers burn down the directors home when a film has a sad ending? Is it sad that the characters we've loved for three games died and that the world of mass effect has come to and end? Yes, absolutely, but that is not a slap in the face to fans. It is a testament to how awesome these games have been that we can feel so strongly and how ballsy the writers were. The complaint tat the ending destroys 3 games worth of decisions is bonkers too. Bioware had a story to tell. Within that story, they gave us the ability to enjoy the games how we see fit, but ultimately it was their story to tell. We were just a long for the ride. Like in real life, we can choose how our time is spent, but we cannot escape the inevitable. Even when there's a happy ending, the epilogue is always a tragedy. I applaud bioware for doing what they did, as sad as the ending is.

I hate the ending, but at the same time, I loved it.

It looked to me that it did what you said, and the Relay's shell just exploded, but the energy contained inside was used to boost the signal

Yeah, I don't want to put words in anyone's mouth or anything, but I think the ending being "sad" is the last thing people are angry about.

Also, I know nothing of the indoctrination theory other than it exists, but I'm about to go down that rabbit hole. Wish me luck!

In America Reapers indoctrinate you. In Russia YOU indoctrinate REAPERS!

Then maybe I'm missing a reason why people are up in arms...care to clarify?

I don't think it's a trilogy. I fully believe Shepard and crew will be back for ME4.
