Mass Effect 3

Quite a good message from Ray (besides the blatant "let's put an example of our review scores from top review outlets!"). Definitely lends hope to a better ending.

Here's to hoping they'll add [BLACKOUT] Harbinger trash talking Shepard on the charge. [/BLACKOUT]

yea he just had to throw in the 75+ perfect scores. thats fine and all. i give it a 9-9.5. if the crouch/run/roll stuff wasnt so iffy, id give it a 10. im not going to let an ending a halfway like ruin its overall score.

i highly doubt many of those 75 critics have fully engulfed themselves into the entire franchise, but id like to hear their opinions on the ending. a person who really takes in the info and gets into it will be much more disappointed then people who just 'plays the game' so to speak.

That's something I really missed from Mass Effect 2. I was expecting a face to face (...more or less) confrontation with Harbinger like you had with Sovereign in the first game.

i was very much looking forward to some more harbinger in ME3. i wouldnt have been against having[BLACKOUT] harbinger (or any reaper) assuming control of enemies again... why not if they are capable?[/BLACKOUT]

is there a quicker way to use spoilertags/blackouts? im tired of not being able to quick reply and typing out [ spoiler ] [/spoiler ] gets annoying.

I'm betting people rushed through it and got the *****y ending, and that's why they're moaning. Bioware didn't lie to us, I don't see how they even could have. They may have not told us the outcome of the game before hand, but that's not lying, that's withholding plot information. Personally, I don't see how someone can complete the game without at least 3000 points.

You realize there are people who did every single quest got more than 5k war points and still ended up with the same crappy endings that the people who rushed through got right?

Its because there were so many people complaining on the forums that Harbinger was too meme-y to be a serious threat.

This is one area I wish Bioware had said F the fans, I really got a kick out of Harbinger.

I thought it was a good idea to point out the review scores, because of the ****ed up metacritc spamming.

I don't care what anybody says about the ending, because I agree it was bad. But, up to that point...the game was amazing. Nobody can convince me that a 9.0 + suddenly drops to a 4.0 because of the final five minutes. No way you can make that argument without saying that your review score for Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2 retroactively drops as well.

So, I think with that perspective...made sense to point out the reviews and point out that, yes...the game is good overall.

I dunno, he said there's an announcement coming in April. And that Hudson and the team was hard at work. I think, short of announcing something, that's as close as you can get to a confirmation.

I'd probably have it at 9.0. If the ending is any real improvement, I can see it going to 9.5.

Yeah, saying that the game or even the series is ruined because of the ending is just blind rage imo. The ending didn't change anything for me: Mass Effect is still easily one of the best video game franchises out there.

Btw, anyone read the Mass Effect books? Are they worth it?

im in the middle of the first one... its pretty good so far... i heard only the ones written by drew karypshn or w.e. are any good.

and april 6 is a big day for bioware... make or break with a lot of people

The ending isn't bad enough to ruin the series but it does taint it.

I've read all the books and comics and they're awesome. :] If you're a fan of the world they're worth reading. I'm not a fan of the 4th book coz I don't like the author's style but it's still got some good character stuff.

PAX panel, i believe... its the 6-8.

Mass Effect/Bioware have a panel at 4:30 friday the 6th. they also have a dragon age panel at 3 on the same day.

I agree with this. The ending aside they pretty much delivered on almost everything else.

I'd rate ME3 at a 9 and with the bad ending it drops to a 8.5 which I still consider to be a very strong score.

This is with ME2, being a 9.5 and ME1 being a 8.

I use a five point scale, but for me I would give it a 4/5 with the bad ending, and without it, or if the indoctrination theory is true, a 5/5.

Id give it a 9.5. Good ending, bad ending, no ending, whatever. I had an absolute blast playing through the game. Some great, emotional moments with some of my fav characters in gaming.

I don't even know what I'd give it. I thought it was, like, the best game in the universe until the final 5 minutes. But those final minutes were so bad it completely changed my view of the entire franchise.

Might sound dramatic, but I don't care; it's true. With ME1 and ME2 I played through each one 3 times one after the other, each time excited to do another playthrough to see how things would change with a different character. I have zero desire to do that for ME3. Like, absolute zero. It sucks.

While I want some clarity on the ending, that fact alone isn't enough to keep my from re-playing the game at some point.

Honestly, had they allowed for a little more emotional closure and made a few things more clear I'd of been totally happy with the ending.

im replaying it as we speak... its worth reliving the amazing moments and missions throughout the game. as well as seeing the reactions doing renegade options... i love punching the reporter for a third time.. Threepeat that *****!

Not Mass Effect related, but I thought some of you might appreciate it.

I would've been way less disappointed, that's for sure. But, I'd still forever think that The Catalyst was a terrible idea.

I'm sure I'll play through ME3 again with my Renegade eventually, but as of right now I have no desire. :csad:

I see you all got the news. well it's cool to hear even though this was said

Bioshock Creator Says The Anger Over Mass Effect 3′s Ending Makes Him Sad
Yesterday 2:00 PM
If those calling on BioWare to change the ending to Mass Effect 3 somehow get what they want, they would still be disappointed, says the creator of Bioshock, Ken Levine.

lol I didn't know if I should have bothered to put it up from last night. I'm sure most would have said he has no Idea what fans real issue with it was. which was closure. and the fact that Bioware set them selves up with saying what they said about having "your own ending the way you want it." compared to when he talks . which is obvious it's gonna go the way he and his writers want the story to go and the way he chooses to end it with out fans say so. welll I'll let you have your say on what he said. it's obvious he doesn't know the full details he's busy with his own thing/ big upcoming game any way.
