Isn't that just the exclusive Avengers 2 footage during Agents of SHIELD?

The invitations, extended to Newsarama and other sites that cover comic book movies, says nothing other than the date, the morning time, and the location of the El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles.

There's a couple of funny cases in AoS that depend on exactly how you count them. For instance, I wouldn't count "Scorch" even though he's on the AoS list, because it seems like a coincidental reuse of a generic code name, rather than any attempt to depict a specific character.

Similarly, Coulson was initially an MCU-original character, but (IIRC) had migrated to the comics before AoS came out.

I also assume you aren't counting the Honorable Mentions.

Lastly, I forgot to add Senator Ward to that list last time I updated, since we know he'll be appearing (he's another special case: his first name is different -- Christian, not Stewart -- and he probably won't be a "Z'nox hybrid"). I'll add him after Tuesday's episode. Assuming your count is correct, that would make him 98?

Assuming he is an adaptation of CB Senator Ward, yes he would be 98

Sounds awesome, but worried I'll get my hopes up on any huge annoucements....plus it'd make more sense to wait that extra week to the 75 year special thing, which also promised some tidbits and stuff on the future. Also I haven't heard about this anywhere else yet

ut why would they want to do that now? why not wait till comic-con as usual or NYCC that just ended or even D23 next year for that?

This is pretty interesting stuff..i doubt they are just going to announce a bunch of movies. I think this is something relating to Marvel Studios as a company

doing it this way ensures they are the only movie news of the day. You go to comic cons or D23 and your gonna have to share news with the other studios...and even Disney. Star Wars is going to have to show up at one of these D23s

If the "event" is at the El Capitan, then it's most likely footage to be shown. AOU, Ant-Man, Peggy Carter, AOS, Daredevil --- maybe all of the above. If you were just announcing future projects and/or casting news, you could handle that with a press release; not a full-on screening at a prominent movie theatre.


*Edit: Of course, it *would* be pretty big news if they were to announce a movie partnership with Sony over the Spider-Man (and His Amazing Friends/Enemies) franchise, a partnership that's already been heavily rumored in recent weeks.

I predict a full Phase 3 slate announcement, with Doctor Strange casting announcement, as well as Civil War announcement (VERY likely with a Sony/Marvel Studios partnership announced alongside.

Well, if its about showing the blogs the footage they'll show during AoS then they aren't going to send screeners.

But why show footage of the episode that airs later that night?

I don't think it's related to Agents of SHIELD, but I do think it's related to Age of Ultron.

Same reason why anyone gives out screeners of anything, to make sure it gets talked about and assure its posted ASAP. They'll be able to have something ready and post it as soon as it airs since thats exactly what people are going to do, go directly to the internet.
