I thought after IM3, some people were done with IM films. I'm actually shocked there's people who want IM4, not that's it's a bad thing it's just after the mixed reaction from fans after IM3, I didn't there were people who want to see IM4.

IM3 made 1.2 billion dollars..there are plenty of people that love the Tony Stark character. Fanboys whine..its just what we do. but it has little to no bearing on what the general audience likes.

They already practically made a solo Black Widow film. The Angelina Jolie movie Salt in which she plays sleeper agents spy trained by the Soviet Union as a child is similar to Black Widow.

Here's a minor but interesting question. Does Marvel Studios even need comiccon anymore? They just announced this event over the weekend, had tickets sold out in a matter of hours, and had people camped out outside the Capitan at 3 am on a freaking monday night. And they've dominated the movie news cycle and every social media platform all day.

I think from here on out they are just going to do Apple-like events like this. Its probably cheaper, and all the attention is focused on them and fans can just buy tickets and not have to face the hassle of comic con

Are all the dates taken up and set in stone? What if Ant-Man is extremely successful like GOTG? Are they not going to announce a sequel to fit into Phase 3 somewhere?

One major Black Avenger is missing:

Sadly, I don't think she'll ever show up.

They'll probably just throw him into Avengers 3, or have a sequel to kick off Phase IV.

They'll need it for TV and for Jeph Leob to act like an ass.

Fiege seems to be aware that he can't sustain this many franchises at once and they'll have to be sacrifices. I'm guessing Antman might be one of them.

To be fair, Fiege said this is what he wanted to do at comiccon. I think he likes comiccon. I wonder if its more cost effective for them to let someone else manage it and just show up with the content?

Yeah, but would he have sacrificed GOTG2? He hasn't. If Ant-Man is successful on the scale of GOTG wouldn't he give more priority to it? Why wouldn't Marvel want to make a sequel if audiences are demanding more of the same characters?

Otherwise Ant-Man does become just a one-off thing like Wright intended, which means he could really have just done his own self-contained thing without it affecting the rest of the MCU.

My order of anticipation. Infinity War is only second because it comes out so late.

Captain America: Civil War
Avengers: Infinity War
Doctor Strange
Black Panther
Guardians of the Galaxy 2
Thor: Ragnarok
Inhumans
Ant-Man
Captain Marvel

To bad Agents of SHIELD isn't half as exciting as this Press Event was

I was so happy. I know there are people on here who have been consistently vocal about how Marvel NEEDS a Black Panther film and a Captain Marvel film. We're getting both. So I raced on here to read the joy and triumph over that, instead it seems the thread's dominated with "Meh, no Black Widow solo film or Hulk sequel. And Ant-Man's being neglected!"

I'm fine without a Black Widow film and Hulk Sequel.

He already greenlit GOTG 2. This was about freeing up a spot for an Antman sequel granted it does well, which Fiege still could. If he doesn't sacrifice Antman, than who? They have all been pretty successful with varying levels of importance to the grander scheme. HE doesn't seem to do a movie for the hell of it. Either that or wait til phase 4. Victim of circumstance really. If its good I'd like to see them do the Future Foundation (based on Matt Fraction's FF) with Pym starting it instead of Mr. Fantastic.

Otherwise Ant-Man does become just a one-off thing like Wright intended, which means he could really have just done his own self-contained thing without it affecting the rest of the MCU.

Not having a sequel doesn't mean that it isn't worth integrating or has something to add.

Same here.

I'm over the moon with the fact that we're getting new character solo movies. It's been a fantastic day so far.

Guardians of the Galaxy is much more important than Ant-Man in their larger story arc involving Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet. Adam Warlock in particular needs to be introduced before Infinity War.

Ant-Man doesn't really have a place with this more cosmic level stuff.

I haven't read everyone else's comments yet, but I just have to say: Awesome. Today, Marvel announced what was surely many people's dream line up for Phase 3. They didn't hold anything back. I can't imagine more than what we have in the pipeline. It's going to be an incredible ride for the next few years, and I can't wait to follow the production of all of these MCU films, as well as other projects (TV and Netflix) that we will get concurrently.

MCU = Amazing

Nice smartass remark instead of trying to make any valid arguments from what I inferred. You do realize we are all speculating right? I'm simply stating what I feel is most logical. Please tell me how after "privatizing world peace" as Tony liked to say and almost destroying the planet with Ultron that Tony would say "Hmm, I think everyone should answer to me or the government" Out of all of Tony's MCU appearances what would lead you to believe Tony would go that route? Was it when he butted heads with SHIELD? And here is another tidbit for you to chew on, RDJ is only contracted for A3 as far as anyone knows. It's not out of the realm of possibility that he appears in CW but Marvel is going to have to dole out a ton of cash for that to happen. As I said it makes more sense that Pym takes the role Tony played and it involves a good chunk of the new characters. Like you said, this isn't the comics

I'm not going to do that.

YOU are speculating...then demanding that I give a reason why it makes sense. Nope, that is not my job.

We don't have all of the info. Maybe Tony is arguing that people must answer to government authorities...maybe Cap is and Tony is fighting him. Since this isn't the comics, the roles can be reversed. Age of Ultron hasn't happened yet, and we know that Tony has a major shift in his outlook on life due to his mistakes.
