MCU: The Marvel Cinematic Universe Official Discussion - Part 5

I am not a fan of the idea either, LOL! Probably the number 1 reason I actually am crossing my fingers Cap survives :hehe:

That's not what I am arguing. There is a difference between being in a movie and being the star of the movie. Between being Iron Man and being War Machine.I am saying these people getting shows won't star in a movie.
Dude, they may not have their own solo movies but they will exist as the new version of these characters in the movie

Sigh... if somebody becomes Captain America in the show, it's going to follow through in the movie. Feige can't get more direct than "characters and events that happen in the show will happen/affect the movies"

Once again, that is not my argument. There is a difference between being a dude in a Captain America suit and being Captain America. Do you think Falcon as Cap or whoever would be the leader of the Avengers? I doubt it. So how much does being Captain America matter for them? Falcon or Bucky are never going to be entrusted to be one of the faces of the MCU. They will just be side characters in ensemble movies or supporting roles in a Captain America outfit. That is how I see this going down. It doesn't matter if you're Captain America if you don't get the same level of focus or treatment.

I don't see how this is a hard concept to understand at all.

I...

I think some here are jumping to massive conclusions based on an article that said Clint is getting a streaming show which will feature Kate Bishop who will take up his codename.

Other than that this feels like people expecting that means EVERYTHING in the comics is a go.

Guys... No. We should know this by now.

I mean it matters because they will be keeping the symbol alive. And yes, I could see the new Cap sharing a leadership position with someone like Carol Danvers. They will have lead roles in the Avengers films

I agree with this. I don't think this means Bucky Cap, Riri, etc. are all coming either. We'll have to see where we are after Endgame before we can accurately examine this.

I highly doubt they will. I think the movie characters left will be your heavy hitters in future Avengers films as they're the ones making the company billions. So I am expecting Carol and T'Challa to be the new Steve/Tony. The ones getting shows I see basically being no higher on the pecking order than they already are once the Avengers movies come.

But I guess we just don't see eye to eye here.

I think the next logical set of heroes that I'd want to see is the Fantastic Four honestly. I want to see the X-Men, but I appreciate how monumental of a task it'll be to integrate them, while FF fits like a glove. And FF would give us Galactus and Doom... their villains are nearly as important as the team itself. Also opens the door to Silver Surfer... and it all starts to flow from there. So, I'd love to see a FF movie in the next 5 years, with the building up of the mutant gene as the next big multi-Phase story.

I suspect they aren't going to go that way. I think the next big bad will be the Skrull honestly, and the Skull silent invasion.. but maybe not.
I expect F4 before X-Men, but Feige might already have a big event planned out as you mention and may choose to delay both till that is resolved.

I agree. As Feige himself said, Marvel Studios has a five-year plan that they developed long before the Fox deal happened. It takes years of planning to pull together the script for a film, to hire a director and line up the cast. Even though we're just hearing about Eternals, Shang-Chi, etc., the studio has obviously been doing pre-production for quite a while. The same is true of the other Phase Four films that are in development.

Feige is wisely staying the course on his current slate. He has plenty of time to decide how to integrate the returning properties and he's going to need it. With two X-films yet to release, there is no sense in rushing to reboot that franchise. It can lie fallow for a few years to give the audience time to forget a bit and Marvel time to carefully plan. The FF are arguably easier to handle because it's been four years since Fant4stic. But even with them, there's no need to rush. It's better to go slow and grow the MCU in a purposeful manner.

So, The Eternals, Shang-Chi and Black Widow walk into a bar...
I doubt there's any other purpose beyond they can make these

Yep, and I’m sure when the time comes for X-Men, they will be a massive part of the MCU and help drive it forward for the future.

Why bring in new X-Men so soon...?

Not only do we have The First Class reboot in our minds, but the old guard from 2000 are still around/in those films too.

I'd bet on lots of Fox characters popping up pretty soon. Storm in BP2 is a no-brainer.

I really don't see anyone taking the mantle of Captain America, Iron Man and Thor especially when the likes of Captain Marvel, Dr. Strange, Spider-Man, Ant-Man and Black Panther are headlining their own solo films right now and already appearing in the Avengers movies. And there's still the Eternals, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, Shang Chi on the way. There's no need for legacy characters in these movies right now.

The comics just constantly use/create legacy characters because they are easier to sell than to create a character that isn't highly inspired by an existing character which imo is kinda lazy, they have also been using the characters for decades and they are simply running out of ideas. While the Marvel Stud10s films are still new.

As for Hawkeye, I seriously doubt Kate Bishop could replace Clint in the films, especially she's being introduced in a tv show which automatically limits her audience.

I don't think Coogler has even started writing yet since he signed on to Space Jam 2. Plenty of time for him to have a role for Ororo to play in the story

You know if Dark Phoenix wasn't being released theatrically this year I actually would be more open to the idea of an MCU X-Men film being out in 2022. Since by then it would already have been 6-7 years since the last one('Apocalypse' was released in 2016).

The Falcon and Winter Soldier will introduce a new Captain America, and Kate Bishop will be Hawkeye in Avengers 5.

All the planned Disney + shows could introduce members of the Young Avengers, now that I think about it. @AvengerPA , you mention that the Bucky/Falcon show could introduce a new Captain America? What about America Chavez? The Scarlet Witch show could introduce Wiccan. The Hawkeye show will introduce Kate Bishop. The Loki show, obviously, will be about Loki. Has anyone considered that yet?

You make a good point, actually. Not sure America Chavez would be "Captain America" per se within where the MCU is right now, but see that character in F&WS could happen. Your other prediction about Wiccan in V&SW I bet is exactly what will happen.

The only Young Avengers who appear in the MCU will be Kate and Cassie. I don't think the others will exist.I don't think the Scarlet Witch show will include Wanda's twins.

There have been rumblings about a Young Avengers movie being in the works before, so I don't agree with you.

yep

Scarlet Witch could lay the groundwork for Wiccan and Speed, while Loki could set up Kid Loki.

The next most logical show would be Hawkeye, which Renner has expressed interest in in the past. Such a show could then also introduce Kate Bishop.

I still believe they may work towards Young Avengers.
Cassie Lang is reported to get an older actress in A4.
Hawkeye's series is supposed to include Kate Bishop.
Wanda's series apparently includes more about her relationship with Vision, which could include a wish to have children.
Loki may not get any resurrections anymore, but maybe he has made the necessary preparations for a rebirth/reincarnation and we'll get to see that?
If Bucky and Sam's show is about the legacy of Captain America it could be a logical place to include Eli Bradley.
Then the only important member unaccounted for would be Hulkling, whose existence depends on the potential inclusion and execution of Mar-Vell in Captain Marvel.

I'm not sure how the story would pan out but when the Bucky/Sam series started being talked about I immediately thought it would be about exploring the legacy of Captain America after Steve Rogers. I could definitely see Cena as Walker being part of that in some capacity. I also think that Eli Bradley might get involved as well, as I am holding on to my theory that the Disney+ shows are building up to Young Avengers.

I'd rather have legacy characters then anyone getting recast.

I think it'll be "Ant-Man and Wasp and Stature" or something similar

The obvious title to me is Giant-Man & the Wasp.
