MCU: The Marvel Cinematic Universe Official Discussion - Part 5

They acknowledged the Jarvis from Agent Carter. Not the 6 Netflix shows, Cloak & Dagger, Aos, Inhumans, Runaways...
Someone like Melinda May could have easily appeared in Capt. Marvel alongside Phil but that didn't happen. They just don't pay attention to the shows.

Regardless, they still acknowledged one. This movie was never going to include every show character ever.

They made one exception. Endgame doesn't need to acknowledge every show, but the previous movies certainly could have done it to any of the shows. I still don't forget that the actress that played Mariah played a different character in the movie. Thing is if I was a huge Marvel tv shows fan, I would have been disappointed that I spent hours watching 400 episodes of all 11 shows and only witnessed them referenced Jarvis from AC. And as not a huge fan of those shows, I felt like I've wasted my time and only continuing to watch them because I'm a completist.

Why is everyone still spreading this "movies never reference shows" dogma literally a week after Endgame? This statement has been falsified.
They reference 1 show out of how many. So sure "the movies do reference the show.
But it was a one off cameo for the one show that Feige produced. None of the other shows has Feige's name on them so no they won't be referenced. There has been ample time especially with so many MCU movies taking place in NYC.

It's just annoying that's it's still brought up so much when you should know what it is at this point. Endgame was basically "Fanservice: The Movie" if they wanted to reference more shows they would've.

1. "The movies will never reference the shows! Nothing is connected! Feige secretly hates all of us!"
2. "Well, not everything has to constantly reference everything to make them connected, especially since the shows are not all for everyone, because they require a lot of time investment, are not intended for all ages or are not accessible in many countries, but since you asked here's an example of a movie referencing one of the shows"
1. "But that specific show doesn't count! And one example proves nothing! Where are all the other shows? Why didn't they spend time developing the main characters from these 10 other shows as well?"

I've said it elsewhere, but: I find it weird that people complain about not having TV/streaming cameos in the movies, while simultaneously there are tons of complaints about how "everything has to tie into Avengers". Yes, I know its not necessarily the same people offering these complaints, but it'd be nice if more people called out the obvious contradiction. If you want characters and stories that stand alone as independent and unrelated to the larger Avengers-related story arcs? Then you are going to get characters and stories that, by virtue of this lack of connection, have no reason or business appearing in Avengers-related movies.

Expect the next trailer to be a bit of departure from the last one since it will directly address the events of Endgame such as...

Massive Endgame Spoilers Beware!

Peter coping with the death of Tony Stark which is partially why he doesn't want to take the Spider-Suit with him on the trip because its a reminder of his late mentor. That, and he wants a break from the crime-fighting thing to take his mind off the fact he was dead for five years.

I merely meant the movies from pre Endgame. I don't expect future movies to include any cameo appearances of any tv characters or the movies acknowledging any of the shows so it doesn't really change my stance on the matter.

I'm not saying that these movies should include or mention characers like Daredevil as they simply don't fit into Feige's vision of the MCU which I have no problem with. I just meant that personally for me the ABC/Netflix shows feel very separated from the MCU, that's all.

We'll see if the shows and films are connected next week when agents of shield comes out. Going to be very interesting how they handle the events of both infinity war and endgame. Especially endgame as aos finished filming season 6 in december.

I have no doubt AOS will at some point mentions the events of Endgame but it depends on when the showrunners were told of the plans that the screenwriters had for Endgame.

I think everyone agrees that the Fantastic Four should come first. I'm completely fine without any X-Men aside from Deadpool, for a while. I just want a good F4 movie
Yeah, exactly. No need to write an article about it. I will start my “Why Marvel would be better off bringing out Avengers 5 before Avengers 6” essay tonight.

If they were told.

the last season of aos they had their own timetravel adventures with different rules to the mcu. This season is meant to have a 1 year break. Supposedly to get the snap out of the way and things back to normal. They will probably attempt to fix it one way or the other but think it's going to be a headache. Either they stick with the snap and just say they were lucky that none of the main characters were dusted. Or they change it to a 5 year break which has it's own problems. Unless they knew all along and have written it in. Be interesting to see.

I’ll check it out!

(I’ve seriously been wanting to do a podcast myself, hope to one day and share my nerd-dom, so I gotta check this out and support fellow fans when able)

Thank you. Been doing this since 2016. My only advice is be sure NOT to sound like you are cheaply produced. I am lucky in that my friend and podcast partner I were ourselves close to a younger man that we both kinda did some mentoring on who became a professional sound engineer. He has a studio that we record out of which allows us to do things like produce our own music and put together sketches with a modicum of production values.

Not everyone of course has access to that but even if you don't and you want to get into podcasting I would simply suggest to go out of your way not to sound like you are just recording yourself off your Ipad... even if that's exactly what you are doing. Take a look at the wide array of pods online an on Youtube. See which ones look like just some guys shooting the breeze as friends and which ones are at least attempting to feel like a real media outlet and decide what you want to be seen as. It's perfectly fine to just go in as a hobbyist, in which case you have a lot less considerations, but if you are trying to do it on some professional level at all you have to have some modicum of production values. Just my two cents.

Good luck and again... Thanks for the listen. Scroll through and see we've done a lot of shows covering a lot of Genre Fan topics in a variety of ways.

Are you going to place more episodes on Soundcloud?
