Dark of the Moon Michael Bay has killed Transformers for me

Yeah Transformers had silly moments, so did Batman.

I'd still prefer a director who attepts to elevate the source material rather than dwell on the low points. Why dwell on and emphasize the weak areas?

Because I don't see anyone throwing a fanboy fit over the silly crap in G1, but I do see several people willing to string Bay up by his toenails over similar silly crap. If the people bashing Bay for certain things ALSO bashed G1 for those same things, then I'd start seeing some credibility to the arguments.

they all screwed it up, are you happy? What difference does it make whose fault it is...m.bay's name is attached to it (you really think Spielberg actually put any major input to this movie??? )...why do anyone need to run down a list of everyone involved. M.bay supporters need to stop acting so sensitive to this man. TF 1 and TF 2, for me werent good. *insert* whatever name you want there....screwed it up.

bad robot designs, poor character development, horrible comedy, miss use at times of the source material....etc

For staters, it's not the sensitive defenders that plug up comment sections throwing around the term made oh so popular these days.

"Michael Bay Raped my Childhood." sensitive much:csad:
I've actually never seen one over sensitive person champion these films or the man himself. Well, I don't browse the bay boards but I assume you are talking about these ones.

and I don't think anyone's opinions are ill conceived per say, I said the target of most of the hate is.

What are you talking about? G1 didn't have any silly in it! I mean, if someone were to watch this video and skip ahead to 2:40, they wouldn't see silly stuff at all!

wow, I didn't catch much G1, as a kid, I was mostly exposed to the sillyness in some BeastWars eps but it never got that wild. I think fan boys would lynch bay if he had sam dancing around with robots...some gay apparently.

To be fair the alternative would be something like this (shaky cam and all

[YT]HWYdMMiDhzg[/YT]

problem is that apparently isn't G1 either.
And by my approximation the New movies have a great deal of both takes...even the dancing.

Yeah but G1 is 3 seasons long. That means the silly moments are more forgivable because it makes up a smaller percentage of overall content. Then you have Bayformers 1 and 2 where at least a third of the content is silly or embarassing.

If you think G1 cartoons are too silly USE THE COMICS for inspiration. It's that simple. You don't see Nolan mining Superfriends for Batman ideas.

Like I said Batman had his share of silly moments but you had a director who focused on the strong points (Nolan) and one who focused on the weaker points (Schumacher).

There's a choice.

I don't think you realize how silly both these things were. Even with the forced melodrama of the comics you still have something that's pretty silly.

Never seen that comment..and your on here just as much as those ppl. who didnt like the film. so can we say it's 50/50; looks that way to me, plus you said your here to "address the ill conceived target of all the hate"

you may not be too sensitive to anything negative towards M.Bay but your not letting comments about him or the film just roll off your shoulders either;

and when we get comments like "it's just a toy line" or "it's not just Bay's fault". I wouldn't call it "over sensitive" but the comments against Bay and the movie bothers you guys enough to cont. to come to this thread right???

to me this is a silly point you're trying to make, so in the cartoon we were suppose to see robots with balls? Weed brownies? ..i mean i for one am not going back over the issues of the other two films cause they 've been addressed, also by Bay hisself. But it's funnny when someone just uses the cartoon as to say what Bay did was not that bad considering the cartoon...

come one man..u gonna compare the overtone of an 80s KID CARTOON, to a 2009 full length film? Really? And before someone says "exactly" in a sarcasitic way (i mean in terms opposite of the source material)....then either you dont understand the point of a good quality movie or you're so against anyone dissliking the film that the only point you have to try to stand on is how silly an 80s cartoon was....

again a nursey rhyme turned into a dramatic full lenght movie.....if the creative heads are talented enough..anything can be turned into something quality. Plan n simple..that's what being creative is all about, well suppose to be about.

Little Red Riding Hood was a pretty dramatic story on its own before it got kidified

Most fairy tales are kinda messed up. Hanzel and Gretal could be adapted into a fairly decent Law & Order episode.

in the original LRRH no one survived...the wolf ate everyone...the girl, grandma...

I recently found out a wolf (or THE wolf) ate the gingerbread man. I'm more creeped out by that revelation than I care to admit.

a lot of the stories that we consider nursey rhymes where ways of informing people who werent educated....Little Red Riding Hood was a story to tell people so they didnt go into the woods alone....."Ring-a-round-the-rosie"(Cant remember the actual name) was actually about the Plague.
Mary Mary Quite Contrary was a rhyme people used to make fun of Mary I of England

So your telling me even with the plot of the nursery rhyme you could easily turn it into a movie...seriously..you both are grasping at straws..and TFs are about two sides battling each other in a war that started on another planet..yeah you can't get dramatic with that at all can you?(sarcasm)

at no time did I say it couldnt be dramatic

just pointing out that Red Riding Hood was a dramatic story long before people thought it was a kid's story

Let me say this, the Transformers designs in this film franchise is no shape or form "bad". That's one of the main things Michael Bay and the rest of the TF team should be praised for, they realistic brought the Transformers to life.

The designs of the robots make perfect sense for a "semi realistic" live action film, they actually have far more detailed vehicular elements than in animation. To think that the TF cartoon designs would be better in live action than the TF1 or TF2 film designs is just plain unreasonable.

An academy award winning one at that, just like toy story.:whatever:

Yes because these new films are about two undersea creatures that show up to play a game of texas hold em poker:word:

Give me a break, these films with the addition of humor have everything the old ones did and more. Such as the human experience.

Even Toy story("the great" best picture nominee for kids") has characters as silly as the twins as well as the constant human presence..both things tf fanboys rally against at every turn.

The movie designs are just as implausible as any other Transformer franchise. And in the very unlikely chance they were to use the G1 designs in a $200 million movie, they would look fine.

I doubt there wasn't a point in production that the movie designs didn't look "unreasonable". A lot happens between concept art and a complete CGI model.

Sorry, just can't see those working as well as the current designs.

The budget for the first film was only 150 million btw, why spend an extra 200 million on an unproven film franchise?

They didnt use the G1 designs for one reason...to sell more action figures

Whatever amount it cost, it wouldn't look like an 80s cartoon. I don't know what you mean by "unproven film franchise".

Pretty much. I'm just trying to figure out why people think it would look like Roger Rabbit.

WOAH!

I read that as Michael Bay has been killed and rushed over.

.....Was Disappointed
