The Dark Knight Rises Michael Caine on Batman 3

Cool. I really hope he's right when he says it's not as long a way off as we think.

2011 is the earliest we can expect it, and even that is a stretch. Not really interested in what they might say to ease our minds, because a minimum of 3 years is a lifetime after what we just got. :o

I really hope this quote is true! :woot:, we should be getting some kind of something at comic con. If not, then WB sucks!!!

We can always rely on Michael Caine to say somthin!...I said it before- its all just a joke, and Nolan IS coming back. They just wanna keep us in suspence & f with us because lets be honest...who wouldnt? its fun

So I'd say he'll start shooting at the end 2010 for a 2011 release, but we'll most likely get a 2012 release.

A 2011 release date would be a dream come true, but in reality it will probably be 2012 or maybe even 2013. Still good to hear any news at all though, no matter how vague. If the people at WB already have some idea of a release date though maybe that means we will hear something at ComicCon after all.

Why did the interviewer think 2010? Some journalism can be so lazy, and having a degree in that field, it's very disappointing. Anyway, good interview, Caine is always awesome, but you can't put much stock in what the actors feel will be the time frame for the movie because they themselves don't know the exact status. 2012 is the year, you can put money on it:
2010: Jonah Hex
2011: Green Lantern
2012: Batman 3

Boom

This is why they can't tell him anything!

Oh well, everybody will hopefully still believe Nolan's leaving, and they haven't found a story yet, blah blah blah... if anything just to keep the hype machine alive. Way to ruin it, Michael!

Oh well, I still love ya anyways.

i dont get what he said, who said maybe not as long as you think? was it nolan or the guy from wb? this is exciting stuff!

How long do it take to shoot a film? Also don't they have to cast more people for like villians and stuff? I say we get a 2012 release or 2013.

P.S. so looks like Batman 3 will be made.

To give an idea, The Dark Knight filmed the prologue in April 2007 and then principle photography ran from June till October of that year. Then post-production until its release in July 2008

I thought Nolan turned in a finished movie march of '08? Maybe I'm wrong.

But I don't understand if Caine said it was Alan Horn or Nolan who was speaking to him.

Oh he might have, I wasn't trying to say he worked on it right up to its release date, just that he could have if needed.

The original post is misleading, Christopher Nolan isn't the person who Caine quoted as saying "Maybe not as long as you think." It was Alan Horn.

I can't watch the video since I'm at work.

Does Cain or this Alan Horn mention if Nolan might return or not?

Caine says that he said to Alan, "Batman 3 is a long ways off."

Alan replied, "Maybe not as long as you think."

If that's all that was said that could be scary for those of us that want Nolan to return for one more. Granted it's not saying he won't return but what if Caine thinks it's a long ways off meaning, before Nolan is done with Inception and takes a break and Alan saying "Maybe not as long as you think" could mean they might go with another director to get a third film out sooner.

Either that. Which is a good assumption. Or "Maybe not as long as you think." meaning that he has talked to Nolan and has or will soon start the gears. Who knows.

If they do replace Nolan though, maybe John and Goyer will still write the script.

Either way I'm going to act like I didn't hear this news.

It's still so damn early that I'm not going to take anything to heart until after Nolan is done with Inception.

i personally think Nolan has his basic story for a third down on paper. I wouldn't be surprised if he let his brother and Goyer work on the screenplay while he is doing inception. not a bad idea lol.
